I can't give this place more than 2 stars until I hear of the outcome on wed. My boyfriend and I decided to go out of town for the weekend to celebrate my remission and do some fishing. I checked into the hotel at 2. Went to the room and got everything inside. Everything looked very clean and up to date. The bathroom is extremely small but manageable. We go out fishing for a few hours on Saturday afternoon and got back to the hotel around 8pm. I was very excited to use the hot tub to help ease my body pain. My boyfriend ran to the store while I went to get ready for the hot tub. Neither of the keys would work. So being on the 2nd floor I walked downstairs and got 2 new keys, walked back upstairs and once again they did not work. The elderly lady asked me kinda rudely if I was even trying the correct room after one of the staff was up there just 2 minutes before trying herself with no luck I had to walk up and down those stairs about 6 or 7 times with new cards, with the staff with the master key that did not work and also with an actual master regular door key, but come to find out the key part on our door was busted so that did not work. An hour and 45 min later they finally got us in our room. The pool area closed at 10 so that was missed out on that, and it was a very painful night for me. They did not offer to reimburse us anything or provide an extra service while we sat outside our room for an hour and 45 min till we finally got inside our room. Once inside our room, they still could not get any key to work and kept coming up to our room up until the very last time at 1145pm. My boyfriend and I planned to get up at 7am to get ready for a day of fishing. So We set the alarm next to the bed and was finally able to get to sleep by 1am after showering and unpacking and constantly getting a knock on the door and people working on our door. The alarm went off in the morning and We got up and got everything ready, we checked out of the hotel and went to the store to get bait and then when we realize it was ONLY 615 IN THE MORNING! The Clock in the room was wrong! Staying here turned what was supposed to be a nice relaxing de stressing, and healing celebratory stay after being on chemo since August. I called them today after expecting a call yesterday or for them not to charge me the entire amount which was over $100.00. I basically paid over $100 to sleep for 4 hours and sit in the hallway for an hour and 45 min. I called them today but the owner wont be there till at the latest wed. We will see what happens... or the 2 stars may go down to a 1 star. Or...5. It just depends on if they care about their guests enough to handle the issue immediately and with the respect deserved. I dont plan on coming back to that area again. It was a 1 time thing so a comp room or discount on "next time" is not going to work. They had that option to offer that the night we sat in the hallway or the next morning at 6am when we checked out thinking it was 7am due to the clock in the room. But nothing was offered but another room......all our stuff...my meds included were in the room that we could not get into. Not very happy. And not very happy this was not a priority for them to offer any form of compensation, nor something that they see as something that should of already been taken care of during our stay. Giving us a prorated night would of been amazing...but I have to wait till the owner has time to deal with the situation cuz she's not in till wed....

Management was aware of our 2 am arrival and was incredibly rude upon check-in. Not a soul was to be found when we arrived, "Harry or Henry" (worker/owner) heard me say, "Do they take naps around here or what?!" He approached the counter with a terrible attitude and confronted me about my statement. He said, "We are humans and need sleep." His pompous attitude and rude statement started off the stay at Country Meadows Inn with a bang. We had been traveling for hours and just wanted some sleep before the funeral in the morning. Harry/Henry went around and around about his sleep; refusing to simply check us in and let us rest. He asked my wife and I repeatedly if we needed another room because the one we were staying in was a single queen. We told him multiple times we are aware of the single bed and it was not an issue. He came off extremely homophobic. He never directly said anything homophobic, but he was insinuating something with his continuous questioning of our sleeping arrangements. The next day we told our family of the troubles we encountered during check-in. When they confronted Harry/Henry he said he was only trying to joke with us and would make us a pizza for the confusion. This was no joking incident, Harry/Henry never cracked a smile and with the disgusted looks on our faces, there was no confusion of how to take what was being said to us by this man. Coming from the metro area, hotels that advertise 24-7 operations do not have employees sleeping on the job. We did come to find out that he lived upstairs with his family. However, when running a business, either hire someone to work the overnight if you are unable to stay awake or do not take naps! TERRIBLE...

Would give negative 10 stars if i could. Came up to stay 10/17/19 thru 10/19/19 to handle my late fathers estate in nearby tamarack. The second you walk through the front door you can smell the mold, we wouldve walk away right then and there but no other hotel had rooms, noone at front desk so had to ring bell and wait. Then walking into the room that same mold smell in lobby got significantly stronger, again no choice but to stay as it was the only room within 50 miles. We wouldve been better off staying in our car since our 2 year old got sick from the mold. Asthma acted up after the first night. Couldnt even use the pool you could see the mold caked on the bottom of the pool. Breakfast was a joke, small amount of biscuts and gravy on friday morning along with stale bakery items. Staurday was just stale bakery items. When we are up for the funeral this weekend will be staying in cloquet at much nicer hotel with clean pool and better breakfast. Well worth the 30 minute drive to keep my kids healthy. Stay away very far away. My family had been coming to this hotel for over 20 years and i thought itd be great to take my kids to this hotel, worst idea ever. Again stay away you have been warned. Can tell they get alot of complaints since the guy who checked us out didnt even ask how our stay was, and every single hotel we have ever stayed at asked how...
