Cleanliness is an issue and I found two toenails on the floor and a bunch of dander in the crack of the desk chair.
The initial staff that I met and the rest of the staff was decently friendly however the night time staff on the second night was very rude and inconsiderate.
While they did allow me to set up extended checkout being a Marriott Bonvoy member they did try to change the time around three different times on me afterwards. One person told me 1:00 one told me 2:00 the other one told me 12:30.
All the water from the shower that hits the edge of the tile goes out into the floor in the bathroom. I stepped out of the shower to puddles and thankfully had a towel in place so that it wouldn't at least get in the area I needed to walk over to get out.
As previously stated no refrigerator or microwave in the room and they do have the updated cordless room phone.
Decent amount of parking however it has poorly designed accessible handicap parking. The ramp was built off to the side instead of being straight line and shortest distance to the front door. Front sidewalk leading to the front door is extremely long. Handicap striping around the parking spot is too small.
When you arrive at the entrance to open the doors you can use the handicap button which will open the doors however instead of opening both doors as traditionally is done at most businesses it only opens one at a time. The button is also improperly calibrated and so you have to put quite a bit of force behind the button so anybody who is not of decent strength won't be able to open it easily. Then when you make entry into the second door there are two button side-by-side with no indication for which one is which. One is the outbound door and one is the inbound door. I'm guessing that this was someone's attempt to trying to keep AC from getting out due to both doors being opened up at the same time to make it easier for a wheelchair-bound person or otherwise handicapped person to make entry.
Instead front desk being directly in front of the door they are offset to the left by a decent bit. While this is not cumbersome it does make further issues for accessible folks and is definitely an oversight of design in my eyes. They do have a very nice outside patio as you come up towards the entrance but it is also kind of awkward having to stare down everyone as you walk into the hotel. Also if you were wanting to make it quiet entrance good luck because you'll have an audience on the entrance to the hotel.
There is ample parking and decent lighting however there are some dark areas on the way into the hotel from the parking lot. These dark areas extend out into the parking lot so that does increase the risk of criminal activity and assault. They do have a security officer however he is unarmed and only does quick precursory checks of everything sporadically.
Overall I would definitely stay at this location again however I would definitely like to see the appliances added or the price reduced to reflect the loss of appliances. I definitely think the cleanliness issue just stems from overdrive cleaning for the pandemic. Quite a few other hotels have had this recently. Their snack bar selection was pretty good and they had quite a bit more snacks than the average location has. They also stock Pepsi products and alcoholic beverage products as well. They also have an ice cream...
Read moreI am finishing off my 3 night stay at this hotel tonight and checking out tomorrow. As I sit here and think about my stay, I have to say I've been disappointed with my experience here. One's first impression of the hotel is a good one (afterall that's why I booked here). It looks new and modern and it's centrally located. But, as it turns out, this hotel fails in many little areas. And, the little areas matter to me.
The shower water has been ice cold at 6 AM the last 2 mornings. Although we have a King suite, I lament the fact that there is no in-room refrigerator or (regular) bathtub here. Those are pretty basic things.
The walls don't seem to be near thick enough. Loud TV/music noise carried on 'til Midnight last night in the room next door. On top of that, it hasn't helped that our room has faced the pool/outside lobby area and so there has been a lot of 'outside' noise pollution heard with voices, music, etc. Question for Sheraton - is it really necessary to play outside/courtyard lobby music all night (which could be heard in our room)? Who do y'all have checking in at 3 AM that needs to hear your outside music playing as they walk up to the front door?
We found out about a $5 voucher (for the on-site restaurant) /night discount if we didn't have housekeeping come to our room and yet I had to go track somebody down for it because that voucher wasn't delivered to my door, as it should've been.
I know I must sound like I am 65 years old. I'm not even 40, if you must know. It's just that before I checked into this hotel I was at 2 Best Western hotels in 2 different cities for the past few nights. So quiet in those rooms you could hear a pin drop. Very nice room amenities there that just weren't found in this Sheraton room I've been in. Nice hot breakfast at those other motels too. All for a lower price than I've paid here at the Sheraton.
The whole thing about getting more for your money.... not sure it works here. I would just skip the Sheraton the next time and stay at one of the other many hotels in the north Dallas area.
The whole point with staying at a place like the Sheraton is you do it because you want to pay more to get more. You want a wonderful hotel experience that the 'cheaper' chains can't compete with. Sounds nice in theory. It's just the complete opposite happened...
Read moreThis was my first stay at this property, and to put it nicely, it was the least positive experience I’ve had at any SPG property so far. The property was nice and clean, pretty modern, nice spacious rooms, and most importantly, dead-silent AC/heating unit (those who travel often know that many hotels around US still have wall units that sound like a jet engine). However, this was all tainted by poor service during and after the stay.
I stayed there for two nights (two rooms each night, since I was traveling with my kids), and opted for their “Green Choice” program (which I always do). Not only did our rooms not get cleaned (which was expected), but they didn’t even bother to make our beds or give us clean bath towels, which is something they are supposed to do as part of the “Green Choice” program. To top it off, I didn’t even receive the bonus points for opting in.
The second issue was that the Club Lounge was completely out of food for breakfast on the first day, and there was no attendant at the lounge. I called front desk to inquire, and they said they would send someone up. 15 minutes later someone did show up, made a genuinely surprised “looks like we’re out of everything” comment and left. We were at the lounge from 8:00 until 8:40 and no food was brought up. We had to be on our way by 8:45, so we couldn’t wait any longer. The second day we went for breakfast, they were out of coffee and no silverware… I had to go back to my room to make a cup of coffee. When attendant finally showed up, he said they had a big wedding the night before and all of their silverware was tied up there. He found a couple of forks, so we could at least eat something.
Then, to top it all off, I found an unknown $80 charge on my Amex from this hotel; when I called the property to question it, they told me it was just a hold that will be refunded automatically. I explained that I knew a difference between a hold and a charge, and there was a separate hold from the hotel (that did fall off after a few days), but was assured this will be taken care of. It has now been almost a week and that charge is still there and no refund...
