Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning an extended stay to the area.
Pros: Very clean, nice area, friendly staff, well equipped rooms Cons: WiFi was spotty at best, no oven in kitchen
Beds: 5/5 Beds are very comfortable, not to soft and not too hard. Variety of pillows are in the room.
Furniture: 5/5 Pros: The couch was very comfortable. The desk/work area was very spacious and has a 2' x 4' table under it that slides out to give either more counter space for the kitchen, work space for the desk, or dining area. Plenty of storage cabinets/drawers. Even has a table for eating in bed. Cons: the TV was pretty small and out dated.
Bathroom/Closet: 5/5 Bathroom is good/average with full size shower. The closet in my room had entry from the bathroom and from the kitchen area. It was surprisingly spacious and included a modular shelving unit that could be customized.
Kitchen: 4/5 Pros: Aminities include 3/4 size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, small sink, 2 burner electric cook top, and plenty of cabinets. The kitchen is stocked with plates, silverware, pots, pans, cleaning supplies, knives, strainer, measuring cup, toaster, coffee maker, salt/pepper. Additional spices are available at zthe front desk as well as crock pots, blenders, spatulas, and grilling utensils. Cons: just missing an oven
Staff: 5/5 Very friendly, house keeping was fantastic. Even did my dishes when I didn't have time to do them before leaving for the day!
Breakfast: 4/5 Standard continental breakfast, nothing fancy here.
Hotel Aminities: 5/5 Laundry room has 3 washers and 6 dryers, never had to wait for someone to finish before I could start laundry. Pool was clean and clear. Work out room was well equipped w/2 treadmills, two elliptical machines, and a full set of weights. They also have a propane grill available for use complete with all necessary grilling utensils and a small...
Read moreI can't recommend that anyone who would have an issue being around smoke stay here.
This hotel is fine for what it is. I stayed in a two-bedroom suite since I have three kids. The breakfast is normal for the price, the space is small but serviceable. It was nice to have an oven and stove in-room.
The real issue with staying here was that, during my entire stay, the entire floor I was on smelled constantly like marijuana smoke in concentrations that could only come from someone smoking in their room. Given that the floor was a non-smoking floor, and every single room is labeled as non-smoking, this really shouldn't be the sort of thing we experienced.
I went to the front-desk with this information, as well as the room from which the smell was coming, and the employee informed me that other people had mentioned the same issue. But for 4 whole nights nothing changed, the smell eventually crept its way into our room on the final night. If the hotel will allow its guests to interfere with the experience of other guests in such a manner that is explicitly banned by the hotel signage and policies, I can't suggest that anyone stay there, let alone someone with any kind of sensitivity to smells or smoke.
It was very disappointing to pay for hotel service and policies but have those things not maintained by the hotel employees when multiple guests reported the issue to them.
It should also be noted that there aren't any carpeted floors in the rooms that I saw, which seems to have contributed to a high-than-normal noise level from people walking around in the floor above ours. I know this kind of noise is normal, but I found it to be much higher...
Read moreAs a business traveler, and Marriott Platinum Elite Member (47 nights this year), I go out of my way to find Marriott properties that will accommodate me during travel. As most will know. the Marriott brands are not inexpensive compared to other options out there, however, the customer service is top not especially for frequent customers which of course is why I make Marriott my first choice. This particular property though does not align with the standards of the other properties I have stayed at. All Platinum Elite Members are supposed to be offered a "Welcome Gift of Choice" which varies by brand, and at TownePlace is "500 Points per Stay or F&B item". To date, I have stayed at this location 4 times and not one has the front desk offered the "Welcome Gift of Choice" at check in. Per Marriott policy, guest who are not offered this at check in are entitled to $25 as compensation. The past 3 times that this has occurred at this location I have either called Marriott or spoke with the front desk to request the compensation accordingly. In each scenario I was provided a different excuse as to why I should not be compensated. Other properties have been more than happy to follow corporate policy and provide $25 compensation to me or they have made sure to offer the Welcome Gift accordingly. At the end of the day, it is not the individual at the front desk who I am upset with, it is Marriott not backing their policies which are put in place to lure and maintain business travelers. I know that if this continues, Hilton will be happy to take my 50+ nights a year and locations will be...
