OK, I came in on a Greyhound that was late making a connection, forcing a 24 hour layover after I'd already spent the previous day busy, plus 9 hours on a bus. I'm disabled, carrying gear, and unlike some, I'm not going to spend a day trying to rest in a bus station.
So, I looked at the hotel options nearby. Comfort Inn looked like the most reasonable option, so I called to see if they had a shuttle, which was a no, despite the listing showing there was. This does not detract from my experience in the slightest.
I grabbed a cab in front of the depot, and he transported me safely to the Comfort Inn. I arrived at the desk, where my exhaustion caused some confusion in sorting out my needs, an early check-in, and rest. I did pay an early check-in premium, understanding there's industry standard of a 3 PM check-in time on average in the area, and I was arriving at 10 AM. Real rest was my priority.
The lobby was clean, scrupulously so. Everything was neat and organized. The desk clerk was helpful, and got me a room just down the hall a little way. There was the scent of "clean" all the way. I'm a nonsmoker, and sense of smell works fine, and nowhere did I pick up the scents of smoke of any kind.
In my room, I quickly set up. Inspection showed things were clean there. The only minor thing that detracted from it was the AC unit was a little louder than average while actually cooling, but it lulled me to sleep pretty quickly. I used to be in the Navy, and it sounded a little like the gas turbines of my destroyer, a familiar tune. I've heard much worse, though.
There were signs of people who didn't respect the hotel property, like a bleach stain on the upholstered chair, a missing towel hook, a chip in the baseboard tile. But the room was clean and odor free. There were plenty of power outlets available. There was a clean mini-fridge, a microwave, a nice Samsung TV, and the usual array of complimentary soap and shampoos.
The shower was hot, and so clean the tub was a little slippery, but the handy grab bar made that a minor thing, be wary, for your own safety. A tub mat would be recommended, though I'm sure some would think they were entitled to take them home.
Up by the desk, they have a room with coolers that have available sandwiches, Hot Pockets, soft drinks, and water. Ask the clerk for the access key to get in. At the time of my visit, sandwiches were $3, drinks $1, and since I wasn't interested in going to the only nearby restaurant, I selected a spicy chicken breast sandwich, and a couple of Diet Cokes.
I got a bucket of ice from the machine down from the lobby, it tasted fine, as did the tap water. I didn't see signs of neglect of that machine, and did look before scooping.
The king bed of the room was probably what I'd call extra-firm. Much, much softer than a Greyhound lobby metal bench or terrazzo floor, though! It was comfortable to me, and after a hot shower, I slipped between the sheets, set the TV Sleep timer, and dropped immediately to sleep.
I slept well, and I'm grateful to have had a good place in a strange city to do so. My taxi driver came back at 3:15 AM to take me back to the depot. I'd paid him $10 to get from the depot, $10 back, and tipped him after the return trip for both rides. This was satisfactory to both of us, an arrangement I've used around the world.
If I'm in Memphis again, they'll be in my "file" of places I'd go to again. I saw nothing that would give the location some of the reviews I read. I looked for them. That's a shame, really, that people do this, because it hurts businesses unnecessarily. I'd send friends and family here, if they were in Memphis needing a place to stay. The proximity to transportation is convenient, and I'm glad I got the rest I needed to continue my bus trip.
Thank you to the staff of Comfort Inn Airport. Y'all did a fine job, keep up...

Without their assistances, we would not be able to come home early and safely. Our car broke down on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, in the afternoon around 3:30 pm. We had just finished visiting Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. Big shout out to Mr. Ron Allan, who was the night shift staff from Comfort Inn Airport in Memphis Tennessee. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and helpful to me when he tried his best to help me figure out what happened to my car and suggested what I should do. ||Next morning after he finished his shift, he took me and my son to the Interstate Battery Shop to check out if my car battery was really dead, and ,well, it was. I went ahead to buy a new one, and Mr. Ron helped me to install it. And finally, we took our car back to the store to have them double check the alternator. Well, glad nothing was wrong with the alternator. Mr. Ron was right about the problem with my car ,which was that I had a bad car battery. My car started again and we took about 10 hours to drive home all the way from Graceland in Memphis TN to Macon, GA. I am so glad to be home safely! Seriously, without my sweet friends calling me from GA to give me suggestions what to do and where to go at night and Mr. Ron the night shift staff took his precious time to help us and taught my son some lessons about car, and gave some very valuable life lessons, (He is a retired Art teacher from K-12, and also a collage teacher,) we wouldn't be able to make it home the next day and safely. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME and are my LIFE SAVER !! |*The Interstate Battery staff helped us to check the alternator and it was in very good shape!! They told us that we were in good shape and can go home...

The AC barely worked in the room and it was a hot spring weekend so sleeping was uncomfortably warm. We declined housekeeping on Saturday and Sunday but did ask the cleaning staff on Sunday morning for 2 additional bath towels. They said they didn't have any on the cart but to ask the front desk later. That Sunday evening when we returned we went to the front desk and were met with one of the rudest encounters I've experienced in a hotel. The employee asked what we needed and I asked if we could have a couple towels. He sarcastically snorted and said they didn't have any because the hotel was full but he would check. I said we hadn't asked for any Saturday either but we would like clean towels to shower before we checked out Monday morning. He called me back to the store room and spread his arms to an empty shelf to show me that they had no towels. He asked what part of a "full hotel" did I not understand? I said even with a full hotel, they should be able to accommodate two additional bath towels within a weekend stay. He went on to say they have to throw towels away because of makeup stains and that to buy extra towels cuts into their revenue to which I said that wasn't my problem because I was a paying customer contributing to revenue and two towels was not an unreasonable request for two occupants. He offered bathmats or hand towels. I took hand towels and we used those to shower. I have never been talked to like that by an employee of a hotel and I was furious. Terrible customer service! Definitely would never stay...
