Traveling baseball team with drunk parents. We got back to the motel after dinner and I thought a party was going on.
The kids were running up and down the halls unsupervised until about 11 pm plus. I went out there to tell them to politely quiet down. Probably chatted with them for a few minutes, and got zero respect. Parents all congregating in the lobby getting hammered. I went back in our room to try to call the front desk, but phone was Dead.
So I went down to complain at the front desk. Girl was no help. One of the dad’s approached me-about a 7 foot tall dude and was trying to more or less tell me off for complaining about the kids. He then starts mumbling some drunk bs that I was clueless with. We had a stare down for literally 30 seconds-then I just walked away. I was in too much shock to even respond to this rude jerk.
This place was so bad we left at 4 am.
I’m disputing my cc charges for this stay, and contacting the GM. This was completely unacceptable.
Edit: I’ve reached out to them and have gotten zero response. They also removed my review on their Menomonie AmericInn website. I suspect they’ve done the same for others reviews-especially from this past weekend. My husband and I never stay at a toilet by the highway hotels, but it was only for one night so didn’t think it’d be that bad for 188 a night. Nope. Never again. Completely unacceptable that management was not able to remedy this. I’d also like to add that I have my bachelors in hospitality management, so rarely leave reviews like this unless I feel 100% wronged. To possibly remedy this, the property should let non-team potential guests know that youth ball teams will be staying on X date (they usually prebook far in advance). Another idea would be for the property to have stricter rules for enforcement-found this on Reddit, thought these were pretty solid requirements: I asked the front desk person how they dealt with it so well. She told me the following:
Management requires a list of each of the rooms with the names of each child that would be in the room, signed by all adults with the group. Management require all children to have a picture ID, whether it be a school ID, team ID or just some laminated pieces of paper with the kids name and picture on it. For the kids safety as well as the staff being able to know which room they belonged to, to prevent them getting keys to each other's rooms, etc. A list of all the hotel rules and policies was out in each room and a copy had to be signed with the room list as well. Phone numbers for each coach/parent with the understanding that they can be called at any time and someone must be available in the event of the kids getting hurt, sneaking out, disturbing guests, stealing, etc. Three strikes is not a thing, because on strike two, the problem kid(s) and their parents will be checked out and escorted off the property.
Yup. This experience is literally the worst hospitality experience I’ve had in 43 years on Earth. It’s been about 40 hours and I’m still pissed. I can’t tell you about any of the room amenities as we were there so shortly. Phone didn’t work. Cord was literally yanked from wall and wouldn’t work when plugged in. We had a hot tub that we didn’t even use, but have now read not great things in other reviews. We didn’t even take a shower there so I can’t tell you about water pressure. I will say the sheets were clean. Pretty much that’s all we used was the bed to pass out for a couple hours once it quieted down. I’d suggest staying at the Cobblestone Inn. Regret not staying there during this trip, but pretty much the entire town...
Read moreWe checked in after a five hour drive, and had reserved a suite for the weekend. Check in was fine. The lady at the front desk was very polite and helpful, she earned the one star.
Upon arrival however, we walk in to the room and immediately noticed the brown bed spread stained with a thick, white crust. After pulling it off the bed we saw that the sheets and the blankets underneath were all stained with a dark rust color stains and several black stains. Then as we turn the lights on and start loading in our luggage, we see that there are dark red splatter stains all across the walls, that look like dried blood. The bottom of the shower was covered in dirt and long black hairs. There were holes in the walls of the shower surround. The walls are riddled with holes and all of the electric sockets are busted and light covers broken as well. There was debris on the carpets (trash, hair balls, dust bunnies, and dirt). There were drip marks in furniture, the phone, and the bedside lamps. I was lucky enough to have three disinfectant wipes in my purse to try and remove some of the filth. I am pregnant, and was looking forward to a soak in the jacuzzi tub, but won’t be stepping foot in that or the pool or hot tub. We in no means expected the Ritz-Carlton. I read reviews thoroughly before we booked this hotel. However a basic level of cleanliness was absolutely expected. This hotel should be condemned, or at the bare minimum require a tetanus shot before entering. We traveled here for a wedding, and will be cutting our trip short as to avoid another night of this. Should honestly be reported for health violations, because bodily fluids on the bed and blood on the walls seems very unsanitary....
