STAY HERE!! hesitant to share this review as I would like to gate keep this very luxe B&B
I came out of my way to ensure I left a diligent review. I hate leaving them, but this one is worth the effort.
I stumbled upon the Lane House via social media post and was infatuated with the pictures of the Lane House. Not only does this quaint bed & breakfast inn have an elaborate historical tie, the Lane House is exquisitely decorated. The interior sets a tone that can host many "vibes" and is and environment flexible to host any type of stay.
ROOMS: very clean, well stocked with toiletries and in room fridges. Bathroom also has a blow dryer; all bath style showers, so clean, i encourage a bath!!!! The beds are incredibly comfortable and (sheets/comforters/ pillows) are all luxe; might I add they smell so nice! host did a great job decorating the rooms - excited to stay again to explore all the others. Also, thank you for having magsafe chargers by the bedside. This was so convenient. Each room has a fan and AC unit, and locks!
FOOD: Host offered a breakfast option and the verdict is: DO IT. the food was extremely delicious and well seasoned. Plentiful of options for all sorts of eaters, and host is very catering. Especially with the food options around town, this meal was really special.
WHOLE HOUSE: THIS IS THE HIGHLIGHT!!!! there is a pool (heated in the winter, i believe) and the outdoor garden is magical. The whole stay I was conflicted on spending time inside or out. words do not do justice. The interior has a lot of space and sections. There is so many areas to sit and relax. The Lane House has a great welcoming vibe that I can guarantee all visitors will easily "make home".
AMENITIES: There is WIFI and a TV, many areas to gather with friends & family.
The town is precious and small. It has a beautiful mountainous backdrop and has the best small town feels. If you are looking for a perfect getaway
Read moreNestled in the charming downtown of Mercersburg, PA, previously referred to as the jewel of Franklin County, The Inn at Historic Lane House has been combed over and meticulously restored both inside and out to befit the days Ms. Lane herself would have walked the halls. Sahand is the most gracious and attentive host from beginning to end. Upon arrival, he is warm and friendly and makes his guests feel welcome. We've stayed at the inn a few times and each room has been decorated with such historic character yet modern conveniences. The beds are some of the most comfortable we've slept on away from home. The bathrooms are updated, clean and spacious with really nice soaps and soft towels. We've stayed here during different seasons with the beautiful outdoor pool and gardens open in the spring and summer, and the fireplace crackling after skiing in the winter. Coffee is provided in the morning before breakfast is ready, which Sahand makes. Breakfasts are a beautiful spread of yummy options that are never the same - chicken & waffles, French toast, frittatas, eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, fruit, juices, coffee. Something for everyone! We've also had good experiences eating in nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner that Sahand has directed us to. Stoners on the Square is more pub fare with lots of beer on tap. The James Buchanan Pub also has a great menu with a more relaxed atmosphere. (If you're there in the spring or summer, make sure to ask to sit in the biergarten!) We have enjoyed a home away from home. Sahand has become a friend and we love making trips back to unwind...
Read moreWe had a fantastic weekend stay at the Lane House Inn with a group of seven friends, taking five of the beautifully appointed rooms. It was a perfect summer getaway from DC, just about two hours away, to celebrate a few birthdays and enjoy a relaxing weekend together.
Each room had its own historic charm, with incredibly comfortable beds and thoughtful touches throughout. One room had a lovely porch, while others offered views of the pool or the quiet street. Every room included an ensuite bathroom, which made it feel like a true retreat for each guest.
Breakfast each morning was a highlight. It was freshly prepared and different each day. We enjoyed shrimp and grits, pancakes with fried chicken, fresh berries, seasoned potatoes, eggs, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented.
We spent our afternoons reading in the cozy sitting rooms, relaxing by the pool surrounded by lush gardens, and exploring the home’s impressive collection of historic pieces. Some were original to the house or had ties to the Buchanan White House, adding even more depth to the experience. The home itself is filled with warmth and character, and Sahand, our host, was incredibly welcoming and attentive.
The town is small and charming. We made a brief visit to the local market and a nearby restaurant, but for the most part, we stayed at the inn and enjoyed the setting. The Lane House Inn was the destination.
We’re already talking about a return visit, possibly in another season, and cannot recommend this gem...
