We stayed a week here during our vacation to Miami. We chose this hotel because it was in a great location in Coconut Grove and was pretty affordable compared to other hotels in the area. Checking in was quick and easy since we had reserved our room in advance. I was a little surprised to find out that they charge $20 per day for parking. No where did it mention having to pay for parking when I reserved the room, so it would have been nice to know that in advance. They charge a $100 room deposit for incidentals, and they just took the parking fee from the deposit at check out. Each morning, a pretty descent breakfast is served downstairs, with a lot of options to choose from. It's all included with the room, so we ate breakfast each morning at the hotel. Our room was clean and spacious enough for the two of us. The bathroom looked to be recently updated. The walk-in shower was great! They only clean the room every 3rd day, which I thought was a great idea since that means we won't be disturbed by the housekeeper each morning. You can request new towels or ask for your bed sheets to be changed at any time. We called the front desk once for more towels, and they sent them up to our room very quickly. There are 2 reasons I did not give 5 stars. For one, they only had one elevator in service since the other one was out of service our entire stay. Waiting for the single elevator in a 6 story, busy hotel was more than a little frustrating. We waited 13 minutes one morning to get on the elevator while everyone was trying to get down to the lobby for breakfast. The other reason for only 4 stars is an incident I had with one of the staff. We decided to go swimming one afternoon at the pool. A hurricane was expected to make landfall in upper Florida, and Miami was expecting to get a lot of rain and strong gusty winds. However, the day was hot and perfect for a swim. There were a couple of others in the pool also. All of the pool furniture was stacked in a corner, so I went and got a chair and table we could put our belongings on. That's when one of the hotel staff came and told me with a mildly rude tone of voice that I shouldn't touch things and that they were preparing for the storm and that's the reason they were all stacked in the corner. I apologized but also told her that maybe they should put a sign up to inform others since there were other people there doing the same. I explained that we were only going to be at the pool for 20 or 30 minutes, and I would gladly put all the furniture back in the corner when we were done. That's when she became very rude and spoke to me like a child. The entire confrontation was uncalled for. She eventually came and put caution tape around the furniture and a little sign. In the end, the storm was very mild in Miami. Other than that one encounter, all of the hotel staff were friendly and courteous. I recommend the hotel to anyone looking to vacation in Miami. It's in Coconut Grove and very close to downtown, so it's in a convenient location for tourists. It's much more affordable than some of the comparable hotels in the area. We look forward to visiting again...
Read moreThe Hampton in in coral gables does not have enough parking space for their guest. But you are being charge $12 dollar a day. On 11/6/2015, me and husband came in town for a wedding we both where in. The bride booked that hotel for the entire wedding party to stay in. We were charged the fee for are stay until Monday and a $12 a day parking fee. We went out that night with the weeding party and once we returned the gate for parking was closed with a signed no parking. My husband went in to talk to the front desk person Ms. Fuller. He was told he had to find parking elsewhere, and was told he can park on the street but would have to get by 7am or they would put a ticket on the vehicle. My husband asked the clerk why did we have to park on the street when he paid for parking. She said that, that was not her concern. My husband came and got me I went in explaining that we paid for parking. My husband then said what the f is this. She immediately became defensive saying your not going to disrespect me like that I will call the police. Now bare in mind there is a security guard right there. He was so helpful with the entire ordeal. She then picked up the phone and called the police. I asked her did anyone put their hands on her. She said she didn't care and called the police. We then went outside with the security Lester and he showed up where we can parked and it was nothing else he could do. We went into our room and within 5 minutes the police was at the door stating that the front desk clerk doesn't want to render service (after I had already paid) and we had to leave. We pack our things and the police escorted us down. When we get down stairs she smirking. I then told her I wanted her name and the corporate office number. She was telling the police to just get us out. Once we left we called every hotel no hotel had any available rooms. We had to sleep in our rental car. Now bare in mind we had wedding rehearsal at 10am that we couldn't make it to. We finally found a room all the way in Miramar very far from the wedding so we had to commute back and forth all weekend. I called the next morning to speak with a manager she immediately cut me off and told me they played back the tape and we was not calm. Huh? and she stands behind her employee 100 percent wow!!! And that I could only get a refund for the other nights not the first one. And I would have to speak with someone on Monday for the refund. I filed a complaint with the Hilton and another manager called me with another tune stating I will get refunded still don't see it yet. But that was no where near acceptable. My rights where violated and weekend was ruined. She needs to be fired because she clearly took it to far. I am so glad my husband recorded the entire situation. I spoke with my attorney today and I am filing a lawsuit against this hotel. I still can't believe what happened to us because my husband said one salty word. We where thrown out of our hotel in another state nowhere to go. Had to stay way across town back and forth it was a...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel in December, and while I usually rely on Hilton properties for a clean and comfortable stayânot luxurious but dependableâthis location unfortunately fell short of expectations. See pics attached.||To start, the rate was $180 including taxes, which is quite high for a Hampton. For comparison, I stayed at the Hampton in Dadeland in October, and everything was great there. Hereâs a summary of my experience during this stay:||Room 627: When I first checked in, the room was not clean. The bedding had visible makeup stains, and it was evident that the room hadnât been properly prepared. I reported this to the front desk and requested better cleaning for the following day. It wasnât a huge issue initially, but I do expect a clean room that feels properly inspected. I decided to wait until the next day, hoping things would improve.||Bugs in Room 627: The next morning, I discovered bugs in the room. Iâm not sure what type, but I have video evidence, trip advisor will only allow me to add pics. Naturally, this was extremely concerning, and I immediately requested to be moved to another room.||Room 310: Unfortunately, the second room was also disappointing. It had visible blood stains and hair throughout, which was completely unacceptable. Given the bugs weâd already experienced in the previous room, this added to our stress.||Urine Smell in Room 310: After turning off the AC in Room 310 during the day, I returned in the afternoon to a strong urine odor emanating from the carpet. The smell was overwhelming and made the room very uncomfortable to stay in. It resembled the smell of a dirty diaper and was impossible to ignore.||While the front desk staff was professional and courteous, I couldnât shake the feeling that I was being perceived as a âcomplainer.â However, bugs in a hotel room and the smell of urine in another are not minor issues. These are fundamental problems that should not occur at any hotel, especially not a Hilton property.||Itâs worth noting that the staff made some efforts to address the situation afterward, but it felt like too little, too late. At the end of my 7-day stay, I still paid $800âaround $100 per nightâwhich is fair for this type of hotel, but there was very little compensation for the stressful experience.||If youâre paying more than $150 per night here, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Also, while many reviews mention this property is ânew,â I found the furniture, carpets, and even the breakfast/lobby area to feel dated and worn. The reviews seem inconsistent with what I observed, so take them with a grain of salt.||Hilton properties are typically reliable, but this stay didnât meet the brandâs standards. I still feel itchy and uncomfortable after switching rooms, and I hope management takes these issues seriously to improve conditions for future guests. If cleanliness and consistency are important to you, I suggest considering other options...
