I was wary about staying here due to recent reviews, but it was the only hotel in the area I wanted to be in which had rooms available by the time I booked. As one reviewer stated, the price doesn't merit the accommodations, but I guess that depends on when you stay. I was up Columbus Day weekend, and other than hotels in Shawnee, Bushkill Inn, or staying further down towards or in Stroudsburg, this is the only spot in town. They can charge what they want. We paid $130/night, which wasn't too crazy, for a holiday weekend. ||||The sheets were clean, the mattresses were comfortable, and there were no bedbugs in my room, so those are things to be grateful for. The hosts/people running the establishment were very nice and helpful. They put the heat on for the room, after we requested it; when we needed a new blow dryer because the one in the room didn't work, they provided a new one. The "breakfast" is Cheerios or Raisin Bran with milk, or rolls, bagels, butter, or cream cheese, coffee and tea. ||||Not luxurious, which we had no illusions about when we booked. The AC had to be on in the room continuously, otherwise, the staleness of the air would set in. Some baking soda before vacuuming the carpet would help. Also, if the windows had an additional sheer curtain, so that you can open the room darkening one during the day and get some natural sunlight while still having privacy would be a nice touch. However, I do get that maintaining a large property like that costs big bucks, and with competition from the time shares in the area and Air BnBs, the revenue probably just isn't coming in to update. The decor looks like it goes back to the 70's.||||A bit more attention to vacuuming under and behind the furniture after guests is needed. I was looking for an item I dropped and saw a cap gun cap, a paper plate, an empty water bottle, and other fuzz in general that was gross. Didn't walk around in my bare feet, as I didn't expect 5 star level. ||||The location cannot be beat. You are 15 - 20 minutes away from Stroudsburg or Shawnee, places to hike, the Falls, there are plenty of eateries, local novelty establishments, gas stations, and places of worship, etc. nearby. ||||What they may not be able to manage on updating, they can make up for in cleanliness, and as I said , service was...
Read moreThe people on check-in were very nice. The sheets were clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was adequately clean. That's the positives. ||This Inn, in its heyday was probably very nice. It's a quaint little motor lodge. But it's years past in decor and maintenance. There were ugly rotted wood door frames, pieces of the dry wall missing, the shower curtain looked 20 years old and the hook holes were ripped, the door knob to the bathroom hung because it just needed to be screwed together. It really just needed human attention and a screwdriver. The sofa and the floor had not been properly cleaned- as there was an obvious buildup of dust. There were exposed wires and holes in the drywall. If one bought a house in this condition it would be titled "a real fixer upper". ||Breakfast included was laughable. There were two dry cereals to choose from. Prepackaged danishes and bagels. The cream cheese was a block of foil covered cream cheese with the foil peeled back and a knife stuck in it. It grossed us out. We didn't eat there and went to Dunkin Donuts for a sanitary and nice breakfast. ||It's very obvious from the condition of this motel that the owner just DOESN'T CARE. The total cost with tax for us was $140. We only chose this place because it was the only motel available for a reasonable price on the particular weekend we needed. Never again. ||With a little reinvestment of the money they make and a handyman they could have a really cute and nice motel. Shabby and sorely neglected are what I would use to describe Value Inn. ||Unless you are desperate- find...
Read moreMy family and I stayed in this motel for 5 days during our vacation to marshalls creek and the Indian museum and I was extremely happy with the service and ammentities offered here. For a steal of a price we still had access to the picnic area with BBQ, use of the volleyball net a basketball court and the pool area which was my personal favorite was sparking clean and a beautiful place to relax while the kids play. There was Something to do for each of my kids who can get bored easy! The room was very clean, we had a pull out sofa plus two beds so there was lots of sleeping space. The Wifi and tv worked well. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful! Bagels, pastries, cereal, coffee, juices. The staff is so friendly and accommodating they extended our check out 1 hour free of charge!! It's less than 5 minutes from a laundrymat which was very helpful. There's tons of things to do here and the woman at the front desk gave us lots of pamphlets to nearby restaurants, a go cart and paintball place my sons enjoyed. A local winery for adults was also nearby and a long list of museums. I will certainly be coming back to visit more local museums and I will definitely be staying here again with my family when we come back to...
