Lewis Ace Hardware — Local services in Middle Smithfield Township

If I could give negative stars I would. I’ve lived here 17 years and always shopped here. Over the last 2years something has seriously changed and the most recent the worse!! Completely UNHELPFUL and they act like you’re bothering them if you ask a question or need help. It’s the same on the phone as it is in the store. It’s not just one or two people there either, it seems to be everyone. We avoid Lewis’ now and travel all the way up to Tannersville to Steele’s True Value. They are friendly and extremely helpful!! We haven’t been here in almost 6 mos and I mistaking,y sent my guy down there to ask for a nozzle part for our power washer — they treated him like he had 10 heads and were annoyed that he asked them anything at all. WE ARE DONE WITH THEM. They should be thankful they have ANY business with the attitudes they have there! UPDATE: August 2022 NOTHING has changed. Called here for some needed lumber instead of wasting 3hrs going out to Home Depot and back and AGAIN but NOPE! He only had 16' boards (which were much more expensive too but we were ing to pay it anyway) we asked if he could cut them down so we could fit them in our truck, we needed 10. He had a FIT on the phone and verbatim said "you want me to stand outside and cut 10 boards for you?!?" I said yes if you could. He replied curtly, scoffing, "No I can't do that" Oh okay I could've dealt with a simple 'no we cant' but to add the rest of what he said and how he said it was unprofessional. But hey That's F I N E Home Depot we went, big box got richer and missed a couple hundred, $$ sake AGAIN and forever. We cannot wait until Tractor Supply or someone else opens up in this area. No more No more NO MORE. TERRIBLE AWFUL PEOPLE. WHY bother owning a store at all when you have less than ZERO customer service skills, or the willingness to even want to be c/s oriented?? ...

I went and ordered 1 ton pallet of wood pellets and was asked what day do I want delivery, I asked what days they said friday or the weekends so I said friday is cool. I waited around all day waiting for my delivery that's already paid for and paid for delivery as well and call at 330pm to be told where not shipping deliveries today. Why wasn't I told that when I paid for what I wanted. So they said tomorrow it will be delivered which is Saturday so I wait around all day for this delivery and they said deliveries end 4pm it's now 3 and I called and the way they said to me over the ohone was that my items where not even on a truck ready to be shipped. I'm disabled and had to have someone sit here 2 days waiting to help bring the 40lb bags in the house. So now I have to wait till about 5pm for this delivery to show. Very crappy store. I went their to save a few dollars than to go to homedehome and for this trouble I should have went to home Depot. No one never knows what's going on when answering the phone. I called to speak to the manager and they told me there is no managers and hung up. Very very bad customer service. Especially since I'm a oayipa customer who just took a 1 ton pallet off your hands. Vs someone coming into get paint or other small stuff. Very disappointed...

Lewis Ace is my local Ace store. Its larger than most of the Aces in my area. This is good as they carry an expanded inventory. Of course this Ace offers key cutting, sharpening, screen repair and other services. You can also get a propane fill. Last time it cost me 10 bux. This one also sells lumber and other building materials, again, thanks to its size. Unless I've needed something really esoteric, they've always had what I needed. This Ace is much closer to me than Lowe's or Home Depot so I'm quite happy with the expanded inventory. My last visit was a cheap one. I needed some hardware. Just some nails and screws. I got in, got what I needed and got out. The store is bright and clean. Its well laid out and the aisle are pretty spacious. The parking lot, especially the entrance, needs some love. I drive a low slung sports car and I worry about scraping bottom when I enter or leave. The staffing here is really why I can't go 5 stars. Most are courteous if not friendly. There are some who clearly don't want to be there and it shows. I'll still go back because it's close and they have...
