Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Madison West, WI — Hotel in Middleton

We recently stayed at Country Inn and Suites (Madison West) in Middleton, WI, from Thursday through Monday (4 nights). The property itself appeared well-kept, with plenty of parking and a quiet atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience with the staff and basic services will keep us from returning.

At check-in, the front desk attendant seemed more annoyed than welcoming. After a curt exchange, we were given keys to a room that turned out to be latched from the inside. Unsure whether it was occupied or just locked accidentally, we returned to the desk for a different room. The second room was clean enough, with comfortable pillows and average beds. However, the bathroom only had three towels and two washcloths—insufficient for a four-night stay when housekeeping is advertised as every third day. We had to make repeated trips to the desk to request more.

On our third night, our room keys stopped working. The desk clerk told us they had been coded incorrectly. The same issue happened again on the fourth night, this time with the same employee who had “fixed” them the night before. To make matters worse, housekeeping never serviced our room at all during the stay, despite us being gone all day and never posting a do-not-disturb sign.

While the property itself is quiet and well-maintained, the repeated key errors, lack of housekeeping, and unwelcoming staff created unnecessary hassles that overshadowed any positives. Next time we are in Madison, we will be looking for...
