I had my wedding at The Atlantic Resort on August 9th and it was absolutely fantastic. Heather Smith my coordinate was absolutely phenomenal. Mike Fideli helped with all my hotel planning needs and the manager Barbara was also extremely helpful in getting last minute reservations for my mother and maid of honor who needed to stay the night. I did not get the names of the other event staff who worked my wedding but every single one of them was amazing!! Even the waitress at Johnnys, who I can’t remember the name of unfortunately, on my wedding day at breakfast told us she worked in the city of Middletown and could look at our marriage license before we left which was so amazingly helpful and nice to offer! The stay was wonderful! We got room service which was delicious and prompt. The staff were extremely friendly. The lighting was a little low but the rooms were very nice and spacious. It ended up working out because they have a special room for brides to take pictures which have amazing lighting and the pictures came out fabulous still even with the limited lighting in the room. The food at the restaurant Johnnys for lunch and breakfast was delicious and the wedding food was amazing. Every person I have spoken to after the wedding has said it was the best wedding they had ever been to!! They said the steak and lobster tail was one of the best they ever had and my husband and I had the halibut and it was so flavorful and the risotto was delicious. They also were centrally located and were barely a 5min drive away from two beaches, which my guests got to enjoy before my wedding, and the midtown where we had my rehearsal dinner. I honestly wish I had done my rehearsal dinner at this facility as we went to Bowen 22 and the food here was better according to my guests who had steaks. My guests could stop raving about the pool either. The groomsman on the morning of the wedding were able to do a short walk to a bar to have a mango chile beer at Rejects which they said was one of the best they ever had. They also have a shuttle that takes you downtown and back on nights you want to go out and don’t want to drive! Every aspect of this venue helped make my wedding day special not just for me and my husband but for all of my guests who didn’t have a single complaint. I can’t recommend this venue enough! While I live in state if I ever need a hotel in Newport I will definitely be staying at the Wyndham Newport. And anyone I can recommend this venue to for a wedding venue I will not hesitate to! Thank you for making my big day so special!!

10/26/24—We started our stay at the Wyndham Newport Resort for two nights for a wedding . My husband stayed both nights, but I only arrived on the 26th. On Friday night, he dined at their restaurant and said it was really good. It's a quaint hotel, though I passed it a few times because it doesn’t look like your typical hotel, and I missed the sign! It's perched overlooking the ocean, and the room was big and spacious. We were there for a wedding, and all the celebrations kicked off promptly at 3:30 PM. God gave us a beautiful day for this wedding . Thank You Jesus ! Now, I hadn’t eaten anything since 1 PM on Friday because I was saving room to fully enjoy this wedding feast! After the vows, where the groom made a very noble promise to communicate effectively, and after the drone flew over to capture the moment, we were led to the hors d'oeuvres. Let me tell you, this was my first feast! Everything was delicious, from the tiny clam chowder to the cheeses, bread, and crackers. Oh, and champagne—I had a few glasses (who could resist?). Then the mariachi band started playing, and that’s when I realized I don’t actually know that many Mexican songs... note to self: add a few to the repertoire! After the mariachi fun, we were led to the dining room. The tables were decorated beautifully, with the most exquisite flowers, and the dance floor had plenty of room. I somehow ended up practicing my front splits—not intentionally, but my legs had other plans! We danced until 9 PM, but honestly, it felt like forever (in the best way). The cake was excellent too. I have to say, Laura, the bride, did an incredible job organizing everything with the help of her bridesmaids, of course. What a beautiful wedding!

We had wanted to vacation to Newport for a day or two after relaxing at the beaches of Misquamicut but the choice of where to stay became an issue. There was only a day or two until we were supposed to head to Rhode Island and most hotels in the area were either too expensive or not close enough to downtown Newport (where I was loath to park). Then we discovered Middletown, RI; it’s a place merely a breath away from Newport and featuring this lovely hotel. And let me tell you: we will definitely be returning! Prices were extraordinarily reasonable for the time of year and considering the sudden nature of the reservations and proximity to downtown Newport. But the hotel also has a friendly staff and an amazing gem of a pool that opens to the outside with a bar and a waterfront patio area overlooking the river that leads to the sea. The best part, bar none, was the complimentary shuttle service offered to and from multiple locations in downtown Newport and with our insanely knowledgeable driver, Arthur, we knew where to go to eat, to shop, and to have fun! The room we got was contemporary in design and lighting and overlooked a nearby day camp with a slight view of the water. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the walk-in shower very interesting. The coffee maker was a nice touch as well. Overall, we had an amazing time here for what amounted to a guess as to the hotel and would highly recommend them in the future to those interested in exploring downtown Newport without the costs and hassle of staying in downtown Newport.

5 Star rating for both the Wyndham Newport Hotel and The Atlantic Resort which hosted our wedding this past weekend!

New England Couples who are vendor shopping for venues: The Atlantic Resort at Wyndham Newport has it all- from all inclusive event packages to on-site lodging, to having the best event coordinators and support staff! I had always envisioned my wedding a certain way (all planned by the age of 13 thanks to Pinterest); but never knew where I wanted to get married. Living on Cape Cod we expanded our search to the Newport area and this venue blew all the others out of the water. Affordable, inclusive, elegant, and just all around perfect. Our guests raved about the food (there was SO much in package three- do yourselves a favor and get that package!!!) as well as the on-site lodging which offered a spacious bridal suite and large, clean, modern hotel rooms. Our #1 item for venue shopping was to have everything at one location, and this exceeded all of our standards.

Elaine Holder, the events/catering manager is a true, real life wedding fairy Godmother who executes the event seamlessly to perfection (seriously, ask her about her donut vendor story). She is the most personable, kind, entertaining person, and exactly who we wanted to be by our sides on our big day. From the moment we met her upon touring the venue we were in awe of her knowledge and expertise in her craft. She was always immediately available with any questions, comments, or concerns, which is exactly what a bride needs. She ensured a seamless transition from ceremony to reception all while engaging with our guests and ensuring happiness/approval from the married couple throughout the night. (She even makes sure you get the chance to sit down and enjoy the fabulous dinner they make!)

Virginia Pesiridis is the Group Sales Manager who also was always immediately available and was gracious enough to cater to our guest's needs, even down to last minute bookings.

We had our rehearsal dinner on location in the Sunset Room which was perfect for our 27 guests the night before the wedding, family style dinner with an open bar of beer/wine. After our rehearsal dinner, we welcomed all guests to the outdoor patio which had a fire pit, full bar, and food service to which we were able to engage and socialize with guests prior to the big day (highly recommend- this was so fun and relaxing!)

Location is key: We had about 111 guests at our wedding to which most stayed on-site, others had the opportunity to book with the nearby hotels/Air BnB's all within a 10 minute radius which truly catered to each of our guest's needs. Also the ability to have multiple Uber/Lyft's in the area after a night of partying ensured the safety of our guests.

The only "complaint" I had was that we couldn't stop time- we truly had the best day/weekend ever mainly because of this venue and their staff. We cannot wait to visit again next year to revel in the memories and bliss of marriage on our one year anniversary! Thank you to everyone at the Atlantic Resort at Wyndham Newport for making our day truly timeless...

I only communicated with hotel staff over the phone, and honestly I'm glad I didn't have to deal with them in person. I'm thinking, how could this personnel (so rude on the phone) make our stay pleasant? I booked a 10 day reservation at this hotel through Booking.com. The next day I received an email from the site I used to book reservation saying there is a duplicate reservation. I canceled one reservation but my credit card was charged twice, so I called the hotel to ask them for a refund. They had some pretty bad attitude on the phone, and told me, to the effect of, there is nothing you can do with us, you have to contact the third party (Booking.com) you used to make the reservation. I spoke to a customer service rep from Booking.com, they looked all the informations, and it shows that charges on my credit card were from Wyndham Hotel and not them. When they contacted the hotel, hotel stated that there is no reservation under my name. So I ended up with no reservation and 2 charges on my credit card which I had to pay because the billing cycle end date had already passed. Ater another attempt, they reinstated (for lack of a better word)the reservation and charged my credit card again. So again, I called the hotel, this time the supervisor came on the phone, all she said to me was: - "sir you have to contact the site you made the reservation with; we can't help you with anything" I said ok, but let me ask you one more question, which went as follows: "The last time I called, you said the same thing, and when the other party called you to request a refund that your hotel charged me, instead of refund, you charged my credit card one more time, and told them I called in and cancelled my reservation," so when I called the hotel directly they didn't give me any explanation at all, they just told me to deal with the site I made the reservation with. At the end I ended up with one extra charge ($2505.52) which has not been solved yet since July 13 2020 basically, for one simple reservation, they charged my credit card 5 times and gave me 3 refunds on my credit card including their unprofessional, uneducated attitude. I understand if misunderstandings and confusion happens, but that is what customer service is for, to help you clarify any misunderstandings you may have. Instead, they made it even more confusing and didn't even help in the end-and still charged me! They charged me three times and still charged me one full amount even when I cancelled all the reservations. In this time of crisis, in my opinion at least, we should come together and help other people out even more, not the opposite. Also, just to clarify, this review only pertains to the customer service, or at least my experience with them. The hotel itself looks beautiful and the last time we stayed there (early 2018), we had a wonderful time, and no problem with CS, but this time things seemed to turn out differently.

Edit: I have finally received a refund for my...
