Overall, I had a very pleasant stay! Check-In was smooth and effortless. They had a lot of luggage carts available which was convenient. The lobby is elegant, but they could use a better flower for the table and get rid of the nasty rug underneath it. The elevator is pretty banged up and shaky, but works. The hallway to the room was clean but banged up with dents and scratches on the walls and sconces bent out of place or outright broken. Upon entry to the room you will be pleased with the spacious layout. Overall a very basic room but it has (mostly) everything that you need and was very clean. It is missing a few basic items: a safe, luggage racks, and a bible. The desk/chair seem mismatched; the desk is too tall for the chair and I HATE the middle bar that is at the bottom of the desk, it totally gets in your way and your shins will not appreciate it. Beds were comfortable and clean. The heat worked great in the room and I was happy that the windows cracked open a bit. The bathroom was very clean, and spacious, however the toilet paper holder is in the WEIRDEST spot that I have ever seen and might even be difficult to use for seniors or those with back problems. Minifridge and coffee machine were clean and worked great! The POOL area is amazing! Nice large pool and jacuzzi. It was the CLEANEST pool and jacuzzi that I have ever seen at a hotel. The outdoor jacuzzi is amazing! I truly appreciated that they keep the pool open till midnight and allow for adults only swimming the last hour and half. It was also really cool that you could sit at a table and order food from the connected restaurant if desired! The gameroom was awesome. Great games and fair prices. A few of the games were not working but the front desk gave my money back for them. The connected restaurant, Big E's, was great! Excellent service, great food, and fair prices. The portion sizes could have been bigger but that's my only complaint. The breakfast works a bit differently than other Holiday Inn breakfasts. First, they charge extra for breakfast, it is not included in your stay. Second, they do it in the restaurant and you will have a server who you will need to tip. Third, the selection is a bit less, no waffles was a definite bummer especially after paying $14 extra to have the breakfast. Also, they only give you one voucher no matter how many people are staying so you all have to go down to breakfast at the same time which sucks. The property itself was very well maintained but did seem a bit outdated, however several staff members said that they are in the middle of a renovation right now. The location didn't do much in terms of a "view" but it was very conveniently located next to many stores, restaurants, gas stations, and activities. making it very easy to get anything you need easily and quickly. Every staff member than I encountered at the hotel from front desk agent to housekeeper to pool attendant were all very nice. I will definitely be...
Read moreI was pretty disappointed in my stay. Looking forward to a night to myself, while my daughter was visiting friends at Northwood University. I reserved an hour in the pool for 1015-1115pm. It was the last timeslot and was told no kids in the pool area at that time. Mind you, I like kids, I was just looking for some quiet time in the hot tub. I was put on the 4th floor with a Jr hockey Club. Not sure where their parents were but the boys were playing hockey in the halls, and the banging of the doors grew old pretty fast. I could handle the noise, as I do understand trying to keep them entertained but everytime the door slammed, the hotel walls shook. Not good when you are trying to relax against the headboard. I decided to head out for a bite to eat. Old Chicago was a regular pizza chain. I think you will do better to dine in the bar n grill but it was pretty busy at the time so I opted for outside food. I did step down for dessert before the pool and it was delish! I went for my pool time, straight out to the outside hottub. Con-- 5 teenage girls discussing their parents cheating on each other was the highlight. 2 little girls trying to get their attention by swimming buy and yelling hi. A little boy and girl in floaties popping in and out of the indoor/outdoor flaps, laughing and jumping off the seats. I sound like a grumpy old lady, I'm not... I just was really looking forward to a relaxing evening. Needless to say, I left early and went up to my room to a hot shower instead. In the morning I went to get what I thought would be a breakfast voucher for the restaurant. The restaurant is not serving breakfast right now and I was given a bag with yogurt, an orange, granola bar, fruit cocktail cup, muffin and a drink... Not worth the $10 I paid for it. Opt to go out for breakfast. My daughter went to Lasko's and ordered an omelette for $9, it was so big she had a to go box. When I asked how my stay was, I explained my issue with the kids, she was very nice and did discount my rate. All in all it is a very nice and conveniently located hotel. Just make sure there isn't a travel hockey team...
Read moreThe service is excellent. Last year, in April, when we stayed my boyfriend was sick and the maids got medicine for him. This year, we arrived late on Monday night/early Tuesday morning 7/7. We had a 3 bedroom room on the 3rd floor. Our bathroom smelled like mildew. The lady at the front desk on the 7-3 shift told the cleanup crew the next morning. It was a little better when we returned that night. They cleaned it again the next day.By Thursday night, 7/9 the smell was gone. We would of moved but it's a hassle to move plus our original plane flight got cancelled on Monday so we just stayed in the same room for 4 nights. The electricity went out one morning in the bathroom. I think it was Wed. for several hours. Had to take showers by the light of our cellphone flashlight app. By the time we were to go down and complain (kids were still sleeping so couldn't call) the lights came back on. They compensated us a free night which was nice and something we would of asked for on our last morning. The hotel is nice and clean for the mos part. Daytime 7-3 front desk person was nice. Spa and pool were enjoyed. Spa is indoors and outdoors. There is a sports bar downstairs which is really slow especially sitting poolside (where we can order food) but we managed to eat ok on our last night. There is no free breakfast because of the sports bar at this hotel. There are 2 washers/dryers on the 2nd floor. $1.25 a piece that closes at 9pm so be aware of the closing. Washers are 30 min, dryers at 60. Small store next to the front desk. Waters are $2.00. There is a Walmart and Meijer's (Michigan store) across the street. We will stay here again next summer when we visit the...
