We had an early morning flight, so we were staying at the Sleep Inn and Suites by the airport. On our way there we noticed that El Tsunami Mexican and Seafood was very close (walkable even), so we decided to just have dinner there. We arrived early on Friday night. It was maybe 5:00. They were able to seat us immediately. That being said, we could see the hostess counter from where we were sitting and by 5:20 a substantial line was forming. There was also a lot of carry-out going on. I suspect that if you go on a weekend, you should expect a wait. Our server came quickly to take our food and drink order. She brought out chips and salsa. The chips were good though I found the salsa a little bit watery. We both had lime margaritas which were also tasty. After that we didn't see much of our server, but a different server brought out our food and a third server picked up our check. I had the carne asada. Everything was very tasty except the rice which I found really salty on its own. But mixed with beans and meat in a corn tortilla then it was very good. My partner had a ceviche. It thought it was OK, but he makes a ceviche at home which he mentioned was better. Although I wouldn't make a special trip just to eat here, if we need to go back to the airport, I'd be fine...
Read moreWent here for the first time with my wife and another couple. We only wanted one margarita and asked if the 1/2 pitcher would be enough for 4 drinks. Waitress said it would only serve 2. (I think due to a language barrier she meant each person could get 2 drinks each from the 1/2 pitcher). So we got the $28 full pitcher that had enough to pour 16 drinks. It was way too much and extremely sweet. We could not tell if there was any tequila in it and did not finish it. The two waitresses' working could barely speak english and could not describe what was came with the menu items we wanted to order. We got one bowl of chips with a tiny bowl of salsa. We asked for more salsa and after 15 minutes had to ask again. The food was pretty good. I expected to get refried beans and mexican rice with my entree but instead got white rice and potato salad(which I did not eat). We had to beg for the check and no one returned to take our credit card. We finally walked toward the exit and paid at a register on the way out. (Maybe that is the way they do it there but no one told us this). It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to order, get our food and leave. Drinks and service were 1 star. ...
Read moreIt took awhile for our food to show up. They don't split checks for groups of 6 or more which made it interesting to pay a bill that had 4 different "couples" paying & added an automatic 18% gratuity. I can understand the gratuity, but it could've been easier to get seperate checks, as we all ordered differently. Large groups that arrived after us, received their food first, even though we ordered at least 10 mins before their group arrived. The food was good & we had them as take-out prior, this was the first time eating there. It didn't look like they sweep after customers since there was food on the floor under the table. There was also leaking water all over the floor by the bathroom, not sure where it came from. I would suggest having them as take-out versus eat in as you'll get faster service & the portion is...
