Hilton Honors Member - We stayed at this hotel twice during our travel to and from Michigan (June 29th and July 5th). The second stay wasn't out of loyalty but convenience of where Minooka is located from our point of destination.
Pro: The hotel is conveniently located off I-80 and has several amenities near by (several restaurants in walking distance, coffee shops, etc.).
Con: The service wasn't typical Hilton quality. It wasn't horrible in the sense of rude staff - more that they were so nonchalant and not engaged. For example: Both visits, they didn't recognize my Hilton status and had to be reminded of the Hilton Honors benefits that were to be provided. Only after being reminded did they provide them. And no apology for forgetting. It was like "oh yeah." On the first visit, the entry doors from the north side did not work. This was reported to the front desk. He was aware of the problem and he noted that they were working on having it fixed. When I mentioned I couldn't access from the pool room door either (literally 5 feet away from the north entrance), he laughed and was like "Oh, you know how it is." FYI, the doors were still not fixed at our second visit (almost a week later). On the first visit, the following morning, I went to get ice out of the ice machine on the first floor but it was busted. I would have asked the breakfast attendant, but she was in no mood to do her job. The lights were still off in the pantry area (this was at 7:30am, breakfast service started at 6:00am) and she hadn't bothered to ensure the hard boiled eggs stayed at the proper temperature (no ice) and no milk was put out. All had to be request. Again, she didn't have an angry or grumpy attitude, it was like "oh, okay, thanks." When I went to the front desk to see where I could get ice, instead of encouraging me to get it from the breakfast room, they told me to go to another floor. On the second visit, the morning of our departure, I went swimming. There were no pool towels. When I went to the front desk to request some, the gal at the desk had to go to the linen closet. When she returned, she handed me a stack of towels and had me deliver them to the pool area myself. The pool area also hadn't been cleaned from the night before (towels, trash, and guest toys were all on the ground). Again, just a nonchalant attitude about ensuring the place stays clean and fresh for each guest.
Our first room, the AC thermostat temperature gauge was not connected to the wall unit. So when we thought we lowered the room temperature (by the wall thermostat), we actually had not. We had to adjust the temp on the wall unit directly. This is fine, but it wouldn't keep the room cool enough to our liking. The second stay, they were connected, so we could make the adjustments on the wall thermostat just fine and it kept the room consistently cool.
Our first room electrical and USB sockets were not installed. There was nothing there (see pictures). Almost like they forgot to properly build out some parts of this room. And for both our stays, the carpet squares were coming up, creating a tripping hazard within the room.
Overall - just not great for Hilton this time around. Because Minooka is a good destination for our travel trips to and from Michigan, I plan to stay at Townplace Suites by Marriot next time - its directly across from this hotel.
Hilton, you need to do better. You need better training. And the maintenance upkeep needs to be improved. The value and price proposition is highly skewed given the...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Minooka unexpectedly for a funeral recently. I will give the advice that you may find the best price on Hilton's website (since Hampton is a Hilton chain) if you are a Hilton Honors member.
The people here are wonderful and helped us with everything from getting adjoining rooms for our large family, early check-in, resolving an issue in the business center and finding a lost item. Really above-and-beyond folks.
The rooms were nice but I have one item to point out which is that the doors to the bathrooms are sliding, not pocket but external so like "barn" doors. They're stylishly done but the doors do not lock, and when the door is open it closes to cover the closet. This is fine for guests travelling alone or in a couple but with kids you may want to watch for pinched fingers or for mischievous little siblings sliding the door open when their older siblings go to the washroom.
The location is nice for anything in Minooka - this is on the older, north side of the town just off Mondamin. I know the town has been growing quite a bit especially towards the south. There are a couple of restaurants nearby. If you're staying in this part of Minooka you should know it is very safe and quiet but most of the nearby restaurants are breakfast/lunch so definitely look up first.
Speaking of breakfast, the complimentary breakfast was good but not great. It's better than what I expect from a hotel buffet, the options were nice (turkey sausage links, western omelets, oatmeal, yogurts, fruit and cereal). The coffee was surprisingly good. You should find something for a family pretty easily here but again there are some nice breakfast...
Read moreIf I can give them no stars I'd choose that! So, we're staying here tonight due to a terrible stay we had several months back were the breakfast hostess was rude to our kids to the point where my kid broke down in tears and we had the police called on us. As Hilton Honors members I took the survey explaining all this. I got an email from the magaer who said to give them another chance. I was very hesitant and didnt want to at 1st but he insisted. I reminded him we rented the suite and another room for our guests and after he talked to his boss they agreed to do the same for us thier only ask was not during Nascar season. Since then there's been a change in management and hasn't been smooth. I reached out to the new manager Mary. At 1st was told they couldn't give us a room because they needed to keep rooms avaible? (aka paying customers). Then I asked if they would honor the prior agreement, they said the could and they would only charge us for 1room. This tells me that they are not really concern with me rather then recouping the loss of revenue! We checked in today and they didn't have roll away but, they did have that 2nd paid room waiting for us. I'm watching TV and the satellite is going out and it's not even bad weather. I've stayed at several hotels in my life mostly hilton properties due to being Hilton Honors member but, being a Hilton Honor member at this location doesn't mean much! On the bright side theres a new hotel right across the street from this one so we'll have to look into them going forward. I wouldn't recommend staying here if your staying with a family and wouldn't recommend using your reward...
