Hyatt Studios Mobile / Tillmans Corner — Hotel in Mobile

I've stayed here twice in the past couple of months on drives between Texas and Florida. Honestly it's REALLY nice! The hotel is brand new, the rooms are gorgeous and clean. I'm not often compelled to leave reviews but I've enjoyed both of my stays so much I wanted to give them a shout-out.

I don't think the location is really that sketchy, it's a pretty standard interstate-adjacent hotel for travelers and I'd wager it's a whole lot less sketchy than staying somewhere in downtown Mobile. It's tucked away on a side street, the parking lot is fenced in and well-lit, and I've parked a car full of my belongings + a u-haul trailer in their lot without incident. I spoke w the front desk and they have never had any reports of vehicle break-ins. The front lot isn't visible from the highway so I think it's less of a target for roaming bandits.

Cons: the grab and go breakfast is kind of mids, it's literally just nutri grain bars, muffins, fruit, coffee and tea. I think some pitchers of cold water and juice would go a long way - it kind of sucks when you wake up dehydrated and there's only hot drinks to choose from. The food's fine - they don't advertise a continental breakfast so really, any breakfast is cool.

The free internet is also abysmally slow so you're looking at an upcharge if you want to do anything other than maybe checking your email. But the rooms are generally 10-20 bucks cheaper than all the older, crappier hotels next to it so theoretically you could put those savings towards the...

I am very disappointed in the treatment from this hotel. Rather than inform me that the room was unpaid for they charged the card set aside for incidentals. The desk had opportunity to communicate with me. But they did not. This lack of communication is unacceptable to me. Not to mention that when I inquired through the accounting office, the person answering the phone told me that they would look into it, and get back to me personally. That did not happen. It took days for me to track down someone in the accounting office. Finally, almost 2 weeks later, I got an answer to the question of why my card was was charged, and I was not informed. The answer to the question of why my card was charged was finally answered. The answer was they had a card. So they charged it. Don't trust them....

I arrived at the hotel late (around 2:30 am), aware that I had a late check-out time. I had anticipated sleeping in, but the front desk staff assured me they would make a note to not disturb me. However, at approximately 9:30 am, I was startled by a loud bang, similar to a police knock. I was extremely disappointed and found the staff's demeanor to be rude. The hotel's breakfast offerings were limited to a grab-and-go selection, consisting of coffee, a small muffin, or a fruit granola bar. Although my room was nicely appointed, the bed was uncomfortably lumpy, and the pillows were flat. Furthermore, I encountered two small roaches in the bathroom.
