Quality Inn & Suites Monticello — Hotel in Monticello

My husband has been in Monticello Arkansas working as part of a construction crew for the last couple of months. We decided to go with him for 2 weeks since it’s school summer vacay for our kids. The rooms are extremely clean and the beds super comfortable. The pool is a bit dated and could use a little paint refresh on the bottom but still it is clean. My kids loved the pool because it isn’t one of those super tiny ones most motels have now a days. It has a deeper end in it for actual swimming. The staff are all top tier too! Friendly and very accommodating. It was quiet and slept wonderfully. The breakfast is the typical continental breakfast but it’s always hot, good variety, and filling. There was a small mix up with our most recent stay and they put us in a king suite instead of the double queen which accommodated 4 of us. They promptly fixed the issue and had us in the proper rooms in just a few minutes. The lady at the front desk with glasses (I think her name is Susan but not entirely sure I’m so sorry) she always greets us with a smile and a “Welcome back”. The room I got had the jacuzzi in it and I had to clean it before I could use it as there was soap scum on the bottom of it from the people before us. The next day we went out and when we came back to the room, no one had cleaned our room. Our bed was still unmade, the garbage had not been emptied (there was food from the night before in it), no one cleaned the tub or the shower. We were not given clean towels. When I called the front desk about these issues, I was told that the hotel only cleans the rooms every other day. They also told me I could empty my garbage in the big garbage can and I could go up there to get towels. No one told me that my room would not be cleaned or that I would have to do their job by emptying the garbage and going to get towels. These are amenities that expected when I stay at a hotel/motel. I was quite surprised by the service as Choice Hotels have always been my go to hotels when I am traveling but now, I am not as confident in them as I was before...

As a member of Choice Priviledge Program for years I have stayed at many Quality Inns. This is one of the worst. I am sorry I believed the good reviews I read on line. If it had not been late and past our cancellation time when we checked in we would not have stayed. The outside but enclosed stairway looked like it had not been cleaned in years. The room condition was unacceptable. The floor was dirty with loose dirt and rocks. The towel bar was broken and the sink cracked. The hair dryer outlet was broken. The toilet was not thoroughly cleaned and the shampoo and condition dispensers were empty. I pulled the bed covers completely back to assure myself they had been changed. I did not complain at the desk as I felt it would not have done any good. This review is my way of alerting Choice Hotels there is a problem. We have a trip planned next month and have 6 Quality Inns and several Comfort Inns booked. This experience makes me nervous of about staying at...
