What a joke??wWe stayed Thursday September 6 and 7th. We check in and what rude individuals at their front desk. Ok , I thought she is having a bad night and the other one is just relaxing. We get to the room and we went to take a shower and see there are NO TOWELS!! I call the front desk and I asked for towels and was told I could come get them, no I said. She said she was the only one there and it would be a fe minutes ok thank you. It took about 20 minutes to get them. We decide to get another night there due to the fact we were there for a graduation from the Navy. We asked how we can reserve another night and stay in the same room. We go to the front desk about 7:25 am on Friday to recheck in. She made my husband give her the credit card again to swipe for another hold of $50. Now we 2 $50 hold on his credit card. We reserved the room on another credit card that we wanted it charged to. We check out on Saturday September 8th and noticed the credit card that was on swiped twice was charged the nights stay. Ok, we said that’s ok we didn’t authorize it to be but ok. Well Holy Moly we wake up today to see a $35 charge, we call to ask why? Well the lady at the front desk was rude and said “ well it’s for parking for the cruise you are on” excuse me I am not on a cruise. Well they gave me that room number, so you don’t check to see whose name or card you are charging things too!!??? She said well I will reverse the charge! I called choice privileges to cast a complaint. They said everything is taken care of sorry it will come off in 3-5 business days!! Not acceptable because we didn’t authorize anything to be charged to this card. Well around 4:00 my husband gets notified his credit card is hit with not 1 but 2 more changes from the Clarion hotel. Our room is now being charged $100.24, $35, 135.24, another 100.24. I calll back and got told it wasnt their fault meaning the person who answered the phone! Unbelievable, I said it’s not you personally but why is this happening! I don’t know I can’t see nothing, ugh I hung up! I called choice hotels back and they said they can not do anything !! The rude person called back from the hotel at 4:26 and as we spoke all I hear “I didn’t do anything and my manager is off today and I had to disturb her on her day off!! Oh well I said I don’t care this is ridiculous that all these charges keep appearing. I told him we will be calling our attorney and Capital One and letting them know fraudulent charges on appearing on the card. As my husband was on the phone with Capital One another charge appeared $70. What the heck is going on!! Be very very very careful staying at the Clarion Inn on Johnnie Dodd in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina!! Rude, and over charging...
Read moreGreat location, terrible hotel! When I arrived the desk had informed me that there would be a $50 hold applied to my credit card in case there is any damage or issues with the room after I check out, and would be canceled in 7 - 10 days if there is no damage or issues.
That was a big red flag right off the bat! Obviously the clientele they keep are not the best tailored, and they have had problems in the past.
The first room I was given had a musty odor when I entered it, and after being in the room for about 5 minutes I noticed the toilet kept running. I lifted the top of the tank lid to look and the chain to the flapper was missing and the bobber was all the way to the top and the adjuster was broken. I also noticed the bathtub/shower was grungy and yellowed.
I tried to call the front desk but the phone wasn’t working, and I walked back down to discuss with the attendant.
They ended up giving me a second room, no apologies for the first room…. When I entered the second room it was like the heat was on. I quickly turned the AC down to 60 degrees and put the blower on high.
The furniture was all scratched up and chipped all over to the point that you could see the bare wood. The toilet base was broken where it bolts to the floor and when you sat down on it you wobbled back and forth.
The bathtub/shower had mold where the tub meets the bathroom floor and the wall surround of the tub was repaired on the seam but wasn’t pushed together tightly causing mold/mildew to build up.
After an hour the room temperature still was warm. You could feel a slight breeze of coolness when you were laying on the bed, but as soon as you stand up the heat hits you.
I tried to call the front desk to see if someone could come look at the AC, but the phone in that room did not work as well. At that point I just gave up.
The bed was very hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were not much better. In the morning I took a shower and when I lifted the towel off the rack I noticed the towel underneath was all stained.
I travel to Mount Pleasant often and obviously I will not be staying there ever again. I would say that this place should be renamed “Lack of...
Read moreI'm not an overly particular person. My attitude towards hotels is if you provide services of decent standard, you will get a higher rating than I am giving at this time. My number one complaint was the front desk staff. Two out of the four staff members were friendly and helpful. The two others were not. People pay a lot of money to stay in a hotel and I was there on business for a week. One woman in particular was eating her Chick-fil-A in the open. I asked for extra hangers and she said staff was cleaning the rooms. My response was "so I should go looking for someone myself?". She then picked up her walkie-talkie and spoke with housekeeping and they brought me hangers. How hard was that? This particular employee was super lazy and there were other things, but that was an example.
Other than that, it was a typical Quality Inn stay, which is decent and usually located in a good location. This one is located right at the foot of the Ravenel Bridge, super convenient to get into downtown Charleston. Housekeeping was great. I keep my room very clean, even straighten my bed, but they would come in and spruce up and just do a nice job overall leaving me fresh towels each day.
Another issue, which was not a huge deal, but I was located across the walkway from the ice machine, which was used regularly day and night. I could hear it pretty clearly through my door. There was no door on the opening so there was no sound barrier. The equipment in the exercise room had three electrical machines and only one of them was functioning. That could use an update and would be a value to this location. It was disappointing because it was partially why I picked this hotel for that amenity. Also, my phone did not work for the entire stay.
I think this location could you use an update. The price was reasonable so you get what you pay for in this instance. Even though it was located off of Rt. 17, it was a quiet side street so I liked that. I would recommend this hotel for location, quiet and...
