Where do I even begin honestly... This hotel has given me the worst experience I've ever had from any hotel ever. My story is long, but I will make it very brief. Long story short- My workplace needed me in Flint for 3-4 weeks. This is the hotel they chose.
My first week in this nightmare was being completely without a fridge. Even though the room that was booked DID have a fridge; it was missing when you got to the room. I informed front desk & they told me there was nothing they could do as all the other rooms could not have their fridges removed and none extra were in storage. Lucky for me, it was still cold enough to store my groceries in my trunk at the time. The 2nd week and beyond I was not so lucky.
The 2nd week I arrived back, my room DID have a fridge- but it was COMPLETELY BROKEN. So I called front desk and they sent another upstairs. That one worked through the night, but the fridge only kept the items semi cold, mostly warm. Front desk once again said there was nothing they could do.
3rd week- I get a room with a WORKING FRIDGE, Hallelujah! And that week was good, until the final day. I setup late checkout for every week. But for some reason, I had 3 ppl banging on my door and another blowing up the room's phone. Alarmed, I got up and check, only to find out it was Front Desk who made a mistake on my checkout time. But it was 30 minutes until I had to wakeup anyways so I just left then.
Then finally the final week, week 4. Everything was going great the ENTIRE week, and my fridge worked beautifully. Until the LAST DAY.
This time, when Front Desk messed up my checkout time. They didn't call the room AT ALL. Instead they got maintenance and a manager with a huge metal rode to pry open my door. Yes. PRY OPEN MY DOOR. This was done 30 minutes after regular checkout, but clearly before my late checkout that I've had scheduled since WEEK 1. Alarmed I jumped up NAKED to only find two imbeciles breaking into my room. Their excuse was "we tried to wake you and thought you might have been dead". Like I said, no phone calls, nothing. Just two people and a huge crow bar to break open the door. I immediately went down stairs to management. The lady in charge just brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal & that "they did nothing wrong". Even though they literally broke my door open.
Nothing was ever done about this, and clearly Holiday Inn doesn't care at all. But let me tell you this very clearly. I will make sure that this morbid experience is shared with every person I know; or any poor soul that will book with them. Because NO ONE should have to go through the Helliday Inn experience I...
Read moreI’m sure not every weekend is the same, we came specifically for the hot tub to enjoy our anniversary weekend and were not even able to do so! The pool and hot tub were DISGUSTING! Front desk said it was chlorine we were seeing and that the pool guy had just been there the morning we arrived! Not once were we able to enjoy the hot tub because it was full of small children our ENTIRE stay!!!! No rules of kids being in the hot tub were enforced! From 3:30pm-11:30pm it was so packed we couldn’t even enjoy our time. They did thankfully enforce people getting out of the pool even though some kept trying to go in after they shut it down at 11! We had a poolside room and heard nothing but screaming our whole stay. Front desk staff was friendly in the morning when we checked out, but the two ladies working when we arrived were frustrated and trying to check in the line of people in the lobby. Upon arriving in our room, we noticed a sheet of paper on the desk area, it had the date, workers’s names, and specific information about rooms with bedbugs!!!! We immediately checked our mattresses which looked brand new and clean! It seemed like they were making quite a few renovations in the hallway we were in there were different things going on and items like drywall and machines. Multiple rooms had doors opened or cracked our entire stay. There were only a very small amount of options for breakfast. Potatoes, eggs, Cheerios, toast and orange juice. I wish the eggs would have just been normal with nothing added to them! Overall, our experience could have been way better if the staff would’ve enforced some pool rules as well as the cleanliness of the pool and pool environment area never got cleaned overnight! There was still food and all sorts of things left for the morning swimmers that started coming around 9am. Definitely not a place to get away for a quiet relaxing getaway. We have been to multiple poolside hotel rooms and NEVER experienced anything like this! 80% of the children were unattended by parents, one individual was vaping in the smoking area! Rules NEED to be enforced! It is close to a lot of fast food and restaurants, there is a Meijer, gas stations, and close to...
Read moreThis hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The restaurant was not as it was advertised. Even when you call directly, the recording talks about fresh cut steaks and there aren't even steaks on the menu. We checked in Friday night so that I could leave for an early flight. First we had to walk through cigarette and cigar smoke in order to enter the building. They had a Corvette club staying and they were allowing them to smoke right outside the front door. The entire hotel and room is in desperate need of updating. There were 2X4s under each of the beds. The carpet had not been vacuumed because we found plastic clothing tags on the floor. We also found a dirty wash rag hung over the shower rod. I mentioned these things at check-out and was told that he wasn't surprised because good help is really hard to find. He then handed my the wrong receipt and I now have the personal information of someone in the Trend Settas Corvette Club. BEWARE! Upon check-in they told me that they charged an additional $100 deposit for incidentals. So I authorized the room rate and the additional $100 to be applied on my card for a total of $259.83. After looking at my credit card statement, I have found a charge for $259.83 and a 2nd charge for $159.83. So I have now been charged $419.66 for a room that isn't even worth $159.83. So I called to see why my credit card had the 2 charges and was told that the $100.00 would automatically fall off. The gentleman could not understand that I was charged twice for the room plus the $100. He even sent me the authorization history thinking that it would help me to understand the charges and it also didn't show where they had refunded the $100, and in fact showed the same 2 charges that my credit card shows. He assures me that I will see a difference in 2-3 days. However, the hotel still tied up $419.66 of my funds when I only authorized them to tie up $259.83. In the credit card business, this is...
