DO. NOT. STAY. HERE!!!! ROACHES!!!! SLEEP IN YOUR CAR IF YOU HAVE TO, OR PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE! I’m giving it one star only because zero wasn’t an option. I’m not one to usually complain. I’m fine with just a place to stay. I don’t need the frills but I do expect comfort and cleanliness. We chose this place over a Wyndham hotel that was the same price because of the full kitchen and thought we could save some money. We stayed in cottage #9 and within minutes of being there saw one roach. Within the first 4 hours we killed at least five roaches. FIVE. I turned the water in the tub on to bathe my daughter and the water came out brown. I sent an email to the company that owns this location, Kees Vacations, the evening we arrived (because there’s no on site front desk staff and the phone lines shut down at 5pm which is also frustrating) explaining the situation and asking to be moved to another unit, another property, or be refunded altogether. The next morning we finally got a return email apologizing and explaining that someone over housekeeping and maintenance named “Billie” would be by that morning to talk with us. We never saw “Billie.” We just bought raid and some plug ins to help with the moldy, musty smell and the roaches because we couldn’t get a refund and the other hotels available around were more than $200 a night. We paid $170 a night for this place and had we known we would have gladly paid more to stay elsewhere. Our air unit also quit while there and we had to call twice to get that fixed. Asked for more towels and were told that they don’t do that and that you’re given a washcloth, hand towel, and regular towel per person and no more. No beach towels provided. Dated appliances, beds, etc. Dirty and dusty. Just...
Read moreIs this a 5 star hotel with valet, room service and rooms so clean that you could eat of them? No,so don't think that they are or you will be disappointed. You are not paying for that type of luxury.||||These are cottages that have seen the worse that the Salt Air/Water has thrown at them. Paint pealing off the cottages, rust on the hinges and AC units that they look like they were dug out of a dump. But they still all worked like they were suppose to do.||||The cottages are in two rows with cottages 1-6 on the right and cottages 7-11(or was it 7-10?) on the left looking from the street. Cottages 6 and 11(10) are the closest to the beach access, but even if you are in the far cottage, you will be at the beach within a minute. ||||The rooms were clean and cozy and I knew what I was getting when I booked the room,so I had no high expectations when I arrived. ||||There is no staff on sight which they state on there website and the email you will get(day before arrival) with your room number and key code. As for the key code lock,I felt like one good pull and I could have ripped it off the door.||||If you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay with direct access to the beach, then this place will serve you. Just don't go in having all these High expectations and you will be ok. ||||Will I look to see what other Properties Kees has to offer, definately. I may look for something a little more Luxury oriented...
Read moreSixty years ago when I was a child my family piled into a little old motels like this one. The advantage is a lot of beds, a living room and a kitchen near the beach. The disadvantage of this one is that it hasn’t seen a makeover or even a good cleaning since I was a child. Words like ragged and grubby come to mind. |The dishes in the kitchen were dirty. I know that’s the responsibility of the prior residents but housekeeping should check. Our feet stuck to the linoleum and the carpet: Photo below of paper towel used to wipe up water on kitchen floor. It’s great that they provided a flyswatter but I really hadn’t wanted to spend my vacation killing flies and plunging a stopped up toilet. It’s hard to keep a place clean near a beach but when I tried to open a window to freshen the place the sand and dirt were so thick on the windowsill I could barely touch it. The upholstery is not just stained but dirty. My friend covered the arm chair with towels before she would sit in it. Turning on the air conditioners caused the lights to flicker and dim and the number of extension cords made me nervous about fire risk. |Also Kees is a remote property manager, so there is no one on site to answer questions or solve problems. |Location near the beach is a plus but not a place I’d...
