I have never felt the need to post a review on an establishment before, whether negative or positive—until I stayed here. And unfortunately this is not the review I wish I could leave.
I’m live about an hour south of Naperville currently, but I grew up nearby and even lived in Naperville for two years. I decided to stay here to enjoy a weekend around my family and friends most of which still live nearby.
Initially, I will say I was impressed. Parking seemed easy, desk staff was polite and friendly at check-in, and when I first got to the room I was impressed! I had a suite and was marveling at the nice big soaking bath tub, the dimmable lighting, bed, and nice view. I left for dinner with some friends, and upon returning began experiencing some troubling issues when trying to do basically anything in the room or around the hotel. Some of the light switches began not functioning. The bath tub that I was so excited to get to relax in? Wouldn’t fill or drain properly, and couldn’t change temperature from anything scaldingly hot in any of the taps—shower, tub, sink…didn’t matter.
I tried to drink the tap water, and aside from it being a warm temperature, it actually tasted metallic and for a short time after my stay my throat was swollen and sore.
I called down for an ice bucket to try and use with bottled water. And it took nearly an hour to get to me. Just an ice bucket does not take that long, and if it does, I’d rather do it myself. The lack of ice machines is seemingly a flawed “improvement” to their idea of convenience for the guests.
As for the bed…others have said it in the comments here and I will agree. The bed is horrible. I have slept on air mattresses that are more comfortable. it’s terrible and lumpy and hard. And I got next to no sleep while staying here.
And for the cherry on top? My key wouldn’t work several times during my stay, including at the parking garage entrance; which caused me to have to go outside and find an alternate route into the building while in flip flops and not in any shape to be doing that (I had walked a friend to her car in the middle of the night, wasn’t thinking I’d have to walk a block to get back in).
Listen, I get that you everywhere—especially the service industry—is understaffed, and I’m never one to bother more than I have to while I’m staying anywhere. I’ve never been one to be a “Karen” and complain on public forums like this, but holy hell this was a terrible experience and I don’t know what to attribute it to other than blatant overpricing and overhyping of poorly maintained and incorrectly advertised amenities.

Read moreWe had our wedding at Hotel Arista on September 26, 2025, and overall, it was truly an unforgettable experience. The venue is elegant, modern, and beautifully designed. Our ballroom is so beautiful, and everything looked absolutely stunning on our special day.
Here I wanted to THANK YOU Katie Jones, the hotel manager, for being so professional, accommodating, and supportive throughout the entire planning process, especially when we decided to switch from the Cyprus Room to Ballroom B, just three weeks before the wedding. She made the change stress and handling everything with her good care. We’re so grateful for her patience, attention to detail, and for making the entire process so smooth.
Our guests were so impressed with the venue and the level of service. This is one of the best venues to celebrate weddings. We highly recommend Hotel Arista to any couple looking for a classy, beautiful, and memorable wedding venue. Also, the parking is very convenient for everybody.
However, there are two areas where we think this hotel SHOULD improve: Food Quality – We chose lamb and duck for our main entrées. While the lamb was excellent, the duck unfortunately, turned out VERY salty and quite different from the delicious version we had during the tasting. It was a bit disappointing since food is such an important part of the wedding experience. Reservation – One of our special guests faced a BIG inconvenience due to a reservation miscommunication. We had confirmed a few times with the front desk that charges would go to the card on file and not the guest directly. Unfortunately, the guest was charged anyway, which caused him to miss his flight and pay double fees to rebook. The solution is, we called the reservation front desk, and they apologized and offered us two free nights as compensation.
In conclusion, aside from these two issues, everything else about our wedding day was truly memorable. The staff was attentive, the ballroom looked stunning, and the overall service was excellent. We’re still very happy we chose Hotel Arista as our wedding venue, but we hope the hotel can make improvements in those areas for future...
Read moreI stayed here last night due to a snowstorm coming in. I work in Naperville but reside in Oak Lawn and didn’t want to deal with the morning commute. Upon walking inside, I was greeted by one gentleman and another, named Omar. I felt out of place at first because I’m usually a 3 star hotel gal but decided I needed to treat myself. Omar almost immediately was able to change that and made me feel very welcomed and more confident about my decision.
When I walked into the room, it looked exactly like the pictures online. My first thing that had to be done was getting a nice bath and it has been a while since I felt that relaxed.
I was going to order room service but was very limited on what I could get so I ordered food from a delivery company which wasn’t a hassle to have delivered to the desk.
I liked how you could turn all the lights off with one button while exiting, or turn them on when coming inside the room.
Literally my only complaint is the bed was too hard for me personally so I only got 3 hours of sleep. The pillows were so comfy, I liked the duvet, but the bed I just had an issue with and couldn’t get comfortable no matter what.
If the beds were a little softer, I’d probably consider staying again when I decide to treat myself. But I definitely recommend staying here if that’s not an issue for you!
Update 02/13/2025: I decided to stay here again after seeing the former owner’s comments. Upon arrival, I asked the receptionist about it who advised that they do have mattress toppers that can be placed on the bed. This made such a difference for me even though the bed was still pretty hard. I slept like a baby and woke up refreshed and ready to go about my day.
Due to this, I’ve been able to change my rating to 5/5 instead of 4/5. The staff is still friendly, everything still amazed me, and the restaurants were open until 10 which was nice!
If I have the money, I will likely stay here for future...
