The hotel itself is ok. It’s clear either a lot of smokers stay here or the hall just has the old smoke smell. Rooms smell clean though. Definitely not the top of the line Townes Place we have stayed at. The “full” kitchen with “the essentials” is a pretty bad description. The stove is a two burner electric, we had one tiny frying pan and a larger pot that was bowed so it didn’t sit right. I tried to make popcorn like I do at home with it and the pot wobbled the whole time and didn’t heat evenly ending in burnt popcorn. We had two heating/AC units in our room. One of them the fan didn’t work and the gal at the front desk said she was going to have someone look at it, but the two nights we were there nothing was done. The pull out didn’t have a slip cover and was pretty worn, but our teenager didn’t complain. The first night the pool was wonderful. The water was actually warm. The hot tub was clean, but the jets weren’t fully working. The second night after a long day we wanted to use the hot tub, but apparently the general manager allowed the Fairfield guests to come across the parking lot to use the pool area. This resulted in several unsupervised teenagers, water coming all the way out the door, and the area left a huge mess. Including questionable brown stuff on some of the towels. The hot top was missing a large amount of water and had cloudy water. The pool had what looked to be soap suds in it. This group had monopoly of the pool area for over three hours. Just to find out they weren’t even guests at this hotel. The staff should have made sure they were adequately supervised and the supervision was actually watching them and keeping them in line. The bed in our room is clearly worn and need of replacement soon. We are consistent in staying at Marriotts because of the high standard they are supposed to hold. Especially with their Townes Place Suites line. We also like the option of a kitchen. I have learned to bring my own frying pans and just forgot a pot this time around. The gal at the front desk did state she contacted the general manager after I stated that I would be placing a corporate review. Something I will be doing. However this does not make up for the ability to not relax in a hot tub we pay to use. After a super long day before a travel day. The shower also had some mildew in it on it one of the soap trays, but I was willing to look past it and let them know it needed to be stripped and caulked again. The location was great for what we needed, but some much needed improvements and customer service is needed. Respect the customers who pay at the hotel before making convenience for others. The hotel across the street should have discounted their rooms in some way if they did not have fully functioning facilities. Not send their guests over to make a mess at a different hotel that also clearly has issues with...
Read moreAs a former guest at the Marriott hotel in Naperville I am greatly disappointed in the treatment I have received. As a former guests I come to the area often to walk the path by the river. So I say that to say this I felt that while waiting for my confirmation to check in my room. That it was ok and I was allowed to use the washroom. Unfortunately today I found out that if I’m not a current guest then I’m not allowed. Which causes me to be confused because there is no sign stating that you have to stay there to use a public washroom that made for current and non current guests. Also the young lady who was working the desk around 1pm barged in the public washroom knocking on my stall telling me I need to be out because maintenance was needed. So I came out of the stall her and one of your housekeepers were standing in the doorway to escort me out as if I had committed a crime. Also when I left out of the washroom to request to speak to manager her and the housekeeper did not do the maintenance to the washroom that they spoke of.But moving forward I spoke with the regional manager on duty about the issue and he stated that there were concerns about me using the washroom which I’m still confused about.Because he never stated the concerns. So therefore I was in aware that it was issue. He then proceeded to check to see if I had reservations there and unfortunately there was a mistake with my reservation they were made at another hotel. So I explained that to him and I also asked if it was ok if I could sit in the common area he stated yes just for a little bit. Which made me feel upset due to the fact that I have stayed at this location and you allow your staff to treat current and non current guest with disrespect, discrimination, racism and harassment. I hope this review reaches the higher ups and that something can be done about...
Read moreI stayed here a couple years ago and it went smoothly. This time, not great. The GREAT: the staff was very friendly and courteous and attentive to our needs. The room was clean, all good in the room. The GOOD: The breakfast was an average hotel hot breakfast - eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juices, etc. Did not use the pool or hot tub but looked fine. The BAD: At breakfast there were maybe five kids (looked about ages 8 to 14) all in the breakfast area with only swimsuits - no shoes, no shirts - hovering all over the waffle station. They continued to get breakfast and (more or less) take over the breakfast area. It wasn't the fact they were hovering over the food and eating in there without shirts or shoes, but the fact no one in the hotel staff spoke up to them. Loss of appetite after this. We saw a woman (who appeared to be pregnant) wearing an ankle bracelet wandering the hotel - I'm assuming she was a guest but not sure. Hallway windows open for no reason - mid March so not all that warm. Faint smell of smoke in the hallways. The fire alarm went off twice in our two night stay. First on a Saturday afternoon (during an afternoon nap) the second went off around 1:30am. Everyone was forced to go to the lobby. Didn't seem to be any sort of emergency. The firemen that showed up had no sense of urgency and almost seemed a little perturbed to be there - maybe a regular occurrence? I contacted Marriot and they refused to compensate me financially or with any points. Will I stay here again? Probably not. Would I recommend? I'd simply say - beware. Maybe I just caught them on a bad weekend. ...
