I stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Nashville MetroCenter this past weekend with my family (three adults, one child) for a short getaway. When looking for a place near downtown Nashville, we found that this location had lower pricing, free breakfast, an indoor pool, cheaper parking ($10 nightly) than other hotels and a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within a four mile radius. All of these amenities were useful during our stay.
We consistently experienced good customer service from Mrs. Jeanet working at the front desk when it came to answering my questions and providing local recommendations for my family. The housekeeping staff and shuttle drivers were conversational and friendly as well.
Our room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was well lit and included the necessary items for the number of people in our room. The cleanliness was fair as well. We took extra steps to sanitize as well. We were in room 219, so you could hear a bit of sound from the street as the hotel is within walking distance of a gas station and a few fast-food restaurants (Dunkin Donuts and Chipotle). My mother in law heard someone above us walking at like 2 AM on our last night, so I would rate the noise level at a 3. They do observe quiet hours from 10 PM - 7 AM, but you'd have to report noise to address a loud neighbor and this can be a hassle.
Amenities:
The heated indoor pool is small and intimate, but worked perfectly for my energetic little one that could not wait to hop in and burn off energy. We used it on our first day. There was also a 24 hour gym that my mother in law took advantage of which had a few treadmills, exercise balls and weights.
We ate the free breakfast around 8:30 AM on our second morning. I tried a ham, egg and cheese croissant and one egg frittata. They were both okay. They also had juices, waffle makers, pastries, yogurt (Chobani Greek vanilla yogurt and danon blueberry and raspberry), salsas, oatmeal, boiled eggs and cereal. I liked that included a Silk Oat Milk as a non-dairy alternative. The next morning they had sausages out (chicken and pork), but we ended up taking the shuttle to the downtown area to eat at the Pancake Pantry.
The FREE shuttle was one of my favorite parts of the hotel experience. It runs daily from 7 AM to 11 PM, with the last departure from the hotel being at 10:30 PM. We used the shuttle to go EVERYWHERE and it saved us so much money on parking, ubering and gas, even with us bringing cash for tips. Allie was friendly and accommodating and provided great context around the area and things to do in Nashville. Kim told us about the National African American Music Museum and where to find good soul food. The free shuttle took us to the Gulch area, the Adventure Science Center, The Nashville Farmer's Market, downtown Nashville area which had plenty of cool things to do including the National African American Music Museum. We literally did not move our car one time after parking it.
Overall, we had a great experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families, couples and...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for three nights over the 4th of July holiday. I'm going to review different aspects of the hotel so you can get a full picture. I selected this hotel because the distance actually helped bring the price down and it was much more reasonable than other hotels closer to downtown.
If you're driving, the hotel is a little hidden behind a gas station so you don't really see signs from the main road unless you're looking . You can't easily see it from the main road. It was kind of cool though to see Tesla chargers in the parking lot.
Staff: The staff here was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I personally didn't have any issues but I did overhear someone complaining because they had to come downstairs one night to get extra towels as I was walking in. Seems only one person was on staff for the entire hotel (no housekeeping, maintenance, etc. around 10pm) so he couldn't leave the front desk to deliver something. I don't think this was worth complaining about but I felt bad for the guy working when I was walking in.
Breakfast: Typical free hotel buffet. Waffles, eggs, meat, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, and coffee. It was a holiday and the hotel was crowded. The woman working was trying really hard to keep up with the crowd but there was a wait for eggs and they ran out yogurt. Since the breakfast was free/included I don't think this was really something to take a star off for.
Distance: About three miles to Downtown where all the historical stuff and museums are located. About ten miles to the Nashville Airport. About ten miles to the Grand Old Opry. (One star off. Even with the shuttle, it was a little annoying to not just be able to really come and go without planning)
Shuttle: Even though the hotel is slightly far from stuff, the complementary shuttle is great when running. It runs during typical hours and will drop you off downtown. When you're ready to return to the hotel, call the front desk or the driver directly and they'll pick you up. If you're staying out "after hours" a Lyft/Uber isn't too expensive and cost about $10. Lyft even offered a 4th of July promocode for 10% off.
Room: The room itself was average. Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean.
Bathroom: The bathroom in the room was a little gross. I was surprised since this hotel is suppose to be new, but it needed a good cleaning that it didn't seem to get. The shower curtain had some kind of stain that looked like mold and the ceiling looked like it needed to be cleaned. (one star off...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay here overall. The beds are a bit firm, which is a positive for me since I have a bad back. Hopefully you don't have a child on the floor above you because you will here them stomping throughout the day. They offer breakfast but I didn't partake because I'm in nashville and I'd much rather eat at a mom and pop shop that I cant get at home. It's probably good for those a bit more budget conscious. The door is always key-locked so you dont have to worry about safety. I see someone complaining about "bums" in another review. While I disagree that they were "everywhere," maybe they've never been to a big city before. The property was well secured. I loved the shuttle that took you to and from in a 4 mile radius. That alone was amazing. Ms Kim was always very nice and took care of me during my stay. Now for the negatives. The pool water is very warm and not refreshing in the least. The shower was leaking chronically during my stay. I informed the front desk of this so hopefully they fixed it. The toilet also runs long so if you have someone with you who isn't a deep sleeper, good luck. The biggest problem for me is that it doesn't seem like they handle big crowds very well. I could tell they had some kind of football thing happening in the hotel and they seemed to be the priority over anyone else. Maybe they are just paying more money than me, but it didn't feel great to be patiently waiting hours for your room type to become available only for bus loads of football players to come in and immediately be granted rooms. In all fairness this was before check in. But the football players also were there before check in so I dont think that even matters in this context. I eventually just settled for a room type that was not what I reserved as I was tired from morning travel and wanted access to a room where I could properly freshen up after a long morning of travel. From what I heard the football players took over the place and were disruptive to the point that people were told "you might want to come to breakfast early to avoid the crowd." Again, not the end of the world and im sure the staff was doing their best given the circumstances, but that left a bad taste in my mouth in a relatively pleasant stay. I'd still consider them as an option in the future the next time I...
