Retro Pool & Motel 🪩🌼

Unfortunately very disappointed with booking and visiting the Dive Motel. From heavily researching the vintage rooms and briefly visiting the pool a year before, I thought this would be a perfect birthday visit. I read the website about the pool and hot tub hours which pool closed at dark or 8pm. This day was the Paradise Road Show which ended at 6pm then we'd get in the pool afterwards, no biggie. Wrong! We walk out of our hotel room in our bathing suits to get in at 6:10pm and they're cleaning everything up and the workers said they're shutting down the pool and area until the next day. What?! We don't drink nor go to bars and planned on relaxing by the pool til dinner. Also no tv in our room. So literally left with nothing to do or go. When booking nothing was mentioned on any of the booking sites about these rules, closure of pool, etc of "Road show" also on top of paying $350 for a one night stay, you would have to pay an additional $74 (2 people) because the road show was there. That was also not mentioned on booking site. I have an extreme gastrointestinal condition which I have to watch what I drink and eat. I carry my water bottle every where. It's became also my security blanket to make sure I stay hydrated and not get sick. I kept getting reprimanded because I was drinking my water outside the hotel gate at my truck in 90 degree weather. I can only eat fruit and my liquid meals and security said I have to buy food from the hotel (which no I can't or I would get sick). During the road show 11am - 6pm, once started good, there was no space to get in the pool to relax from the heat. And no lounge chairs to sit in. On top of hotel check-in wasn't until 3pm. So again, left with an awful experience. I was so excited and had such great expectations but it was quickly not what I expected nor signed up for. I ended up getting very, very sick on top of everything else because I ended up leaving my snack bag in my truck because of security. Also hotel room keys constantly wouldn't work and the office said they were closing and leaving for the night at 10pm. I'm still very disappointed on top of wasting so much money. We didn't even stay the night. We left shortly after checking in.

Like many things, a stay at The Dive Motel has its pros and cons. The Pros: killer aesthetic, fun vibe, comfy beds, not far from downtown, and tickets upon check in for free canned drinks at their bar, just for staying at the motel. The Cons: the structure was built in 1956(?) so the pipes are old and there is little to no sound proofing/insulation. We travel with a white noise sound machine and still heard conversations of people walking by our room early in the morning. Also, on-site parking is very limited and if you arrive on the weekend there may not be on-site parking (meaning that you have to park at the neighboring school). While The Dive has security cameras in their small parking lot, the school may or may not be aware that motel guests park on their property on the weekends. Even in The Dive’s small parking lot they have multiple signs stating they are not responsible for break-ins or stolen items. When I asked the girl at check in she told me “break-ins don’t happen *that* often”. More than once constitutes a problem in my eyes but our vehicle was unscathed after a night at The Dive. The motel is not in the safest part of town, but it wasn’t a bad Uber ride to and from The Dive and Downtown Nashville. The light switch to control the in-room music also controlled the disco ball, so if you wanted to enjoy their radio, you had to have the disco ball spinning. Not a big con but a minor inconvenience. We did not bring swim suits (and we were only in town for a show the night of our stay) so we didn’t enjoy the pool. It does seem like a hip hangout. If the parking weren’t a problem and the rooms had better insulation/noise reduction, we would stay there again, everything considered.

Past weekend stayed at the dive and had the most horrible experience in my life don’t let the reviews fool you for these are regulars who hang out in this place. To start I attended a company event and took advantage to visit friends that were from the area while I was there. At the beginning the staff was very friendly and very welcoming but things took an unnecessary twist. I was there for one night with another person and we rented a penthouse which was almost 400 a night got it through third party vendor online. People pay attention because they don’t tell you this because was not even discussed on checking in. First of all the room was a 70’s vibe which was a cool concept but the room smelled like wet dog coming in. We ignored it because we were there for the night and we really didn’t let it bother because it was only one night. We booked the room through a third party service online which failed to apparently to show nor did the front desk mention these standards the motel had. Being from out of town and having to leave the next day we decided to enjoy the night and relax in the penthouse with visitors and enjoy. With staff that interacted with us no one never told us that nobody was allowed in the room. So 9:00 in the morning they try to barged in stating we have to leave even rush us and tried to humiliate us with some nonsense escort because we had guess over who didn’t make noise nor were disrespectful and left at a early time. Next morning we were penalized and accused of having more than two people in the room who never stayed and we were rushed out before check out. Even had one of the employees come rush and try to intimidate like if that person was a bouncer but was not very successful. I was so disappointing and disrespected on the way they conducted themselves it was very unprofessional. I was baffled and asked the reason for the unnecessary show and there was no legitimate reason for the disrespect. Even though they allow outsiders to take the parking for the motel which has about 20 slots and expect you to park in the nextdoor school parking where you can probably get a boot on you car it was very disappointing and disrespectful. I even had interaction with the security if that’s what they call it during the night and others saw and nothing was said. I’m not trying to be ill or vindictive but I just want to make it aware that if you stay for what they charge be prepared to deal with a bipolar system who allows outsiders to do whatever and those who pay and stay there have to find a parking space because if you don’t keep your parking it’s lost plus with what the prices are you can’t have a person visit you although you pay for something that’s not worth. The way they acted the next day was very unprofessional and out of character especially trying to intimidate and also being rude I would never recommend no one to stay at this motel ever and if you want to have guests to visit be prepared because not welcomed but it was the disrespect not only to my character but as how they operates. Was incredibly disrespectful and disappointing also humiliating on how they escorted us making us seem like we were the ultimate violators without having no sense of being a person. Totally unacceptable disappointment take my advice and do not fall for it it’s not worth it. If you stay put the chain on the door because they don’t knock they just open the door and rush u out before you can check out. So shameful a great concept with such a unprofessional staff don’t be fooled...

Let me first say that I was SO excited to stay here. They market this place very well. Upon my stay, I found out the hard way what a horrible place to stay that it actually is. Our first room had cockroaches and tiny spiders all over it. lamps didn't work, only one nightstand, no luggage rack, no dressers to put clothes, body wash dispensers broken, the plug outlets were so weak it wouldn't charge an ipad, and the shower drain was completely clogged. They switched us to a new room and it wasn't quite as bad but that bathtub was still clogged (drained a tiny bit faster) the lamp still didn't work, but the worst part was that they moved us to a room right next to the outdoor dj booth (for the pool area) and the DJ music was so incredibly loud that even with the door and windows closed sitting on the bed next to my boyfriend, I couldn't even hear what he was saying to me. I truly wish I was exaggerating. the window blinds would shake with the bass. I could feel the bass shaking all the way in the bathroom. it was so excruciatingly loud for HOURS. you couldn't hear anything besides the music. My boyfriend and I would literally have to yell at each other or just walk up and yell in each other's faces to even communicate. it was awful. Don't get me wrong, I love loud music, but if you are going to have your music that loud then you need to have double pained windows or soundproof rooms to make sure that your hotel guests can at the very least, hear each other talk!! The photos for their place are extremely misleading. You will absolutely not get a room with a hot tub inside it like the pictures show unless you book the penthouse specifically. (which are $500 a night)All the pictures that they show with the hot tubs are the upgraded penthouse rooms. the rest of them are located right beside the pool and are TINY. The "restaurant" is a food truck they pulled onto the property with only one woman working it. We ordered a smashburger and fries and it took her 2 and 1/2 hours to get us our food. and they don't allow outside food on the premise! They are severely understaffed. Honestly this place has the potential to be so cute and nice but the owners just need to put a little (more like A LOT) more effort into the building that they own. It is SO run down and you can tell that nobody really cares about all the broken and missing items that a basic hotel room should have. I thought that I was booking a modernized hotel that was maintained to look vintage but what it actually is is an old, broken down, unloved vintage building that needs more attention and BASIC updates. It really is a shame. Whoever runs this place severely lacks the attention to detail quality.

I've never been so let down at a hotel before. 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I for sure feel like I...

It was easy to find. When we got out of the car the was music was ridiculously loud and than a man lifted his girlfriend onto of a commercial dumpster and was more than affectionate. I believe he was part of the group playing the ridiculously loud music by the pool.

Check in was fine no issues.

The pool was a strange shape and weirdly small. We did not use the pool.

When we booked the motel/hotel seemed to be a unique 70’s niche. Each room a different 70’s decor. After staying here I think the 70’s theme was more that they did not to want to renovate the rooms. It would not take much to elevate to the next level.

The room was significantly smaller than the pictures online looked. It was extremely dark. There was only one night stand and a bed that did not have a head board. No other furniture. No TV, closet, drawers to put clothes, no place except the floor for your stuff. It did have a refrigerator with drinks and snacks above complete with chips, condoms and sex toys. I am all for safe sex and fun but it felt… well yuck… like you could rent the room by the hour.

The bed was very soft which I love but I know some people have issues with soft mattresses.

Security. We were concerned that our car would’t be there in the morning or that it might have damage. All was well with our car. The door to the room did have a key card however the chain was attached to the trim. The trim was pulling away from the wall. So it would not have provided any extra security. The walls were paper thin. You can hear everything going on. The exterior wall!?! No insulation and the window must be inexpensive. All night people would walk by the room and we could hear the entire conservation. We were awake much of the night.

My husband also received a text about 10pm from the motel that said all staff were leaving for the night. We have never been to a hotel/motel that was not staffed 24 hours a day.

When we checked in they told us there would be live music at 8. There were two women singing. Maybe 6-8 songs total and the older women forgot the lyrics to her song. Maybe 10-12 people in the bar area and most of them were there to support the artist.

I was hesitant to leave a review as the owner seems to be overly aggressive with the responses to reviews. Don’t come for me.

Lastly your reviews often indicate that people should not make third party reservations. However when my husband called you would not honor the third party price!?!?!? Why ?? Seems like even if you honor the price you would make more money. Really don’t understand.

They do offer a discounted rate to people who live in the...
