El Metate — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

My husband and I love Mexican food in general. We try one restaurant at a time, and if the food is great, we go back. We've stopped going if they change it up too much, and we usually know when the cook on duty is not a main cook. When it comes to El Metate, I especially enjoy enchiladas, and I have to say that tonight I found a favorite dish to add to my short list from all the Mexican restaurants I've visited through the years. Oh, my goodness, friends. Try the Enchiladas Rancheras. The white cheese is delectable, and my husband's dish included hard-shell tacos. The chicken was delightfully seasoned and tender. This restaurant is the real deal. We found it recently when driving down a familiar street. Its on Dickerson Pike south of Broadmoor. Its limited in seating, but I've never had to wait. If enough of you stop by, that might change! There seems to be plenty of take-out orders for pick-ups. Another important detail: My first big test for a quality Mexican restaurant is the salsa. Oh, man, is it incredibly tasty...a nice subtle kick with a scrumptious recipe, which also is a good idea for get-togethers.....I hope you try it, and look forward to a great meal with...

I wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here after the encounter I had today. I’ve come to this place for years because it was my favorite place to come to in east Nashville. Today I placed to pick up order through Postmates and sent my fiancé to pick it up since I had surgery recently. When he got there they gave him a hard time about picking up the order. When he got home I checked the order and we were missing 2 things. I called to let them know and the manager argued with me for 10mins. He pretty much called me a liar and I politely let him know that I checked the bag and it wasn’t there. He told me to bring all of the food back. I went up there and he snatched the food off of the counter and said “I know the food was in here because I put it there” while storming of. I requested that they remake all of the food and they did. The manager brought the order out and went through it. I tried to tell him that I was hurt because I come there all the time even when we first shut down I still came there and to be treated like that was completely wrong and disrespectful. I WILL NEVER GO...

I've been consistently ordering out and eating here as my favorite local spot for the last 5 years, but had the worst experience last night. It was extremely disheartening and unfortunately appears I will need to find a new place.

We showed an hour before close, and were treated horribly. Told no more rice because it's so close to closing, totally fine. But when asked what we could order in substitution as everything we tried to order had some form of rice, was spoken down to aggressively and beyond unprofessionally. When we did order two entrees, the first came out not even 5 min later, extremely under prepared and disgustingly. We didn't get our other plate til almost 10 min later. Despite Uber eats orders still being taken and picked up, we were very obviously rushed out, even tho it wasn't even 10 min til closing. I can honestly say I've never been treated so poorly and rudely.

EDIT: I’ve tried to call to speak with someone twice. Each time I ask, the same person that served us, has now hung up on me...
