My sister’s wedding at Bridgewood was far from the memorable, joyous occasion it should have been. What should have been a fun and exciting day quickly turned stressful and disorganized. For $8000-$900 I cannot recommend this venue. Find a venue that prioritizes your needs, relieves stress instead of causing it, offers good communication, and values your experience.
Here are the main issues I encountered: Reception Timing Issues and Lack of Direction: The Bridgewood needs to realize and own up to the fact that the following is not normal for a wedding! The ceremony started at 4:30pm and only took 10 minutes. We went straight into the reception area and were rudely KICKED OUT because “the contract stated that we can’t use the reception area until 5pm”. We talked to multiple staff members to see if anything could be worked out and they were not friendly or accommodating. They locked the doors and the whole wedding party and guests had to stand in the hallway until 5pm on the dot. There were no chairs for elderly guests and no guidance. Ceremony’s don’t take exactly 30 minutes so the contract should have stated that we have access to both the ceremony and reception rooms at the same times, 4:30. With the stress of planning a wedding I can see how a bride and groom could overlook those time differences and trust that a venue with as much experience hosting weddings as this one, knows what they are doing. Now the whole 20 minutes that these 100 people were standing in the hallway talking right outside the reception area there was another wedding taking place across the hall. No staff told us that and I’m sure that we disturbed them as 100 people talking gets pretty loud. I have never been to a wedding where you couldn’t go to the reception area right after the ceremony regardless of timing. Usually if you are too early for cocktail hour they let you into the reception area so that you can sit down but they don’t serve drinks until the agreed upon time. Unaccommodating Staff : About an hour before the reception ended, the lights were turned on, signaling the event was over. The DJ turned off the music, and guests began leaving in confusion. We had to ask the staff to dim the lights again to continue the celebration. Shortly after that event a staff member took issue with a couple of board games left on a table, still in their boxes. While two people quickly cleaned it up to avoid further conflict, the excessive focus on such trivial details was frustrating and unnecessary. Unprofessional Behavior : A staff member called me a b**. Little backstory. We had a blow up dice (like a beach ball) that we were tossing and kicking around all night for a kissing game. Towards the end of the night one person tried to kick the ball back to the dance floor. It floated through the air and landed on a staff member, an honest accident, those things can be hard to aim. After the incident she was saying something and pointing with her mouth gaping open and her eyes big like a child who wants something but won’t come up to you and ask. She stood there like that talking but we couldn’t hear her. I walked over to her to see what was going on. She said that the guest that kicked the ball needed to leave and I responded with surprise “because a blow up ball hit you”? She said “it hit me in the head”, like that made it worse. I sarcastically said “ow” (because we all know a blow up ball didn’t hurt) and was then called the b word by her. She grossly over reacted to something so minor, she should have acted professional. I was not drinking and the guest that kicked the ball was standing at a table talking to other guests the whole night not causing any problems or disturbances, there was truly no reason for this reaction.
Overall, the lack of communication, poor organization, and unprofessional staff made this a very disappointing experience. I would recommend looking for a venue that prioritizes your event, communicates effectively, and treats you with the respect you deserve on such an...
Read moreMy husband treated me to an amazing birthday trip. We stayed in the king sunroom suite with a jacuzzi tub in our room. The room was spotless and spacious we not only had the additional sunroom that had a beautiful fireplace and our jacuzzi tub it also had a flat screen that moved so you could enjoy in tub or on couch. The room itself was huge we had a king bed, a dining table which was so nice to sit and eat meals together on there was lots of dresser space and outlets for charging electronics. There was a large flat screen in our room in front of the bed as well to watch in bed. The bed itself was incredibly comfortable and the room temperature was awesome. I have bad asthma and was afraid of being over heated during our stay but was cool and comfortable the entire time we stayed multiple days throughout the hotel. The staff were incredibly professional anyone that walked past you during the stay would tell you to enjoy your stay or to have a wonderful day ECT. The front desk staff were very kind during check in and check out. We used the sundry store multiple times and they were very friendly each time. We took full advantage of the amazing amenities offered to us the walking trail was beautiful and the weather was perfect to go night and day the hotel is also very close to many stores and restaurants which was very nice we walked down to them and barely had to drive at all. The outside hot tub was a favorite for us it was wonderful at night or earlier in the morning with the cold breeze blowing on you as you soaked. The pool is awesome for families with kids and people without kids it was very clean and well maintained. The waterslide was fun and they have a nice gym and game room above the pool area. Another nice thing is room service and being able to go to bar and get drinks to go back to your room we really enjoyed every minute of this trip. The restaurant was almost so delicious we ate there a few times and loved the food for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was the only thing we didn't love but that isn't a big deal and with so many options close by it's not hard to find something you love. The sirloin steak was so tender and juicy it was so good plus the after dinner grasshopper I had was fantastic. Overall 5 stars and we will be back we are planning a family trip next time and we know are kids will love it as much as we did. There is also a playground and mini golf and pickleball court...
Read moreThis hotel is incredible! I think it's the BEST one we've stayed in PERIOD. From the moment you step in those doors YOU KNOW you're in for a comfortable stay. Mark, at the front desk, was literally the highlight of our stay. Seriously. I know how stressful it can be working with guests, especially during the holiday season but Mark may just be the "God of customer service". Mark made sure we could secure a room after issues with my card. He was gracious and so was his coworker at the front desk. We made our way to our room (passed free coffee, tea and hot water on the way), we opened our door and ... LUXURY! We had a 2-room king suite and it was gorgeous! From the art on the wall, the soft lighting, plush carpet, wood accents, black lacquer, robes, full kitchen sink, extra pillows, comfy bed, extra pillows in closet -- what more could i ask for? Well, I ended up needing more. Multiple families had reserved many rooms on the second floor where our room was. The running, screaming, stomping, crying and parents encouraging this behavior was too much for my husband and I. We sent a text message to Mark at the front desk asking to be moved. NOT ONE QUESTION WAS ASKED, he said come get the new room key and we'll put you into something that will make you much happier. Mark also seen in the notes that I requested a fan for white noise -- he had one waiting! My husband grabbed the key, got our luggage and away we went to our new room on the 3rd floor in a MUCH, much quieter part of the building. To my surprise we were upgraded to a whirlpool suite with a view of the water behind the building! Swimming and birdwatching are my 2 favorite things to do - SCORE! We purposely picked this hotel because of the water amenities - pool, indoor/outdoor hot tub. We used both but the water was 10 degrees too cold outside and it was 40° on December 23! The water in the pool was also pretty chilly so I just stayed in the indoor hot tub. Who really cares about the public hot tub when you have one in your room, ha! Cute game room with amazing seating overlooking the pool area. We didn't eat here but did walk through the connecting hallway between the two buildings which was very charming.
I think Mark was the highlight of our trip. Our text message communication left me feeling extremely well taken care of. He will be the reason my husband and I come back -- not the pool, not the luxury -- Mark....
