This hotel is not what it used to be. I have stayed here since 2011 for an annual event in the Twin Cities, and the quality has slipped quite a bit.
The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and they are not the issue here. The hotel quality and clientele is.
After checking in, I was greeted by a hallway and elevator that reeked so strongly of the devil's lettuce I only used the elevator once, and the stairs instead. Luckly my room was by the stairs, and the stairs exited near the door to the parking lot, so I didn't need to worry about getting high on the way to my car.
The room was clean. However, the bed sagged in the middle and looked like the letter "u" It was well past it's use and not at all comfortable. The AC unit never shut off and was really loud. For $300 a night, I would expect to get some sleep, but no luck here.
Now, back to the clientele. Several unruly teenagers were fighting in the parking lot. More were congregating in front of the side entry door of the parking lot multiple times during my stay. I could tell these kids were making others uneasy by the way they harassed them when trying to enter the building. I had to walk around to the lobby doors to enter the hotel to avoid confrontation.
These same teens commandeered the waffle machines at breakfast. They couldn't make just one waffle a piece then leave. No, they had to make multiple waffles. One kid made 5 before letting his friend make 4. They wouldn't let the other guests use the machines. Stale bagels, ring bologna and cold tater tots were what was left for me. Yum. Thanks Homewood.
Some of the vehicles in the parking lot that were not rentals were local MN plated beaters missing hubcaps and rusty. Usually, you don't find those type of vehicles at a $300 per night hotel. I get the staff cannot control who stays here, but something seems off, based on my prior stays at this Homewood. I most likely...
Read moreBeware of Mike!!! We live 4 hours away so we booked a room to spend our last Easter with my grandma (she raised me) as she was recently placed on hospice, after booking we received a call saying my grandmaight not make it through the night so we called Homeward suites and let them know we we leaving immediately and would arrive at 4am and wanted to make sure we could check in and if I had to pay for an additional night that was fine, we were assured they would take care of us. And than enters Mike, we picked up the phone in the entry way and Mike began yelling at us telling us you can't check in at 4am Everytime we tried to talk he would yell over us eventually hanging up on us, eventually Mike came to the door and continued toberate us and accuse us of lyng he would ask "who did you talk to" and as I answered he bagan screaming again I tried explaining the situation and he would say "sorry about your loss but not my problem come back at 3" finally he said what do you want me to do about it and I saidcan you just get us into our room to which replied that's what I'm doing.. after accusing me of lying again "I've been here years this don't happen here so I don't know why you think you can check in at 4am" I tried to show him the reservation which stated we were arrive Ng at 4am. I could go into more detail about things Mike said but I think you get the point! We told the manager in the morning about it and asked that they watch the camers hopefully they'll spare future guests from the...
Read moreNew Brighton MN location. I have stayed many months. Due to work. So unsure about price. Staff all around are nice and polite. Free breakfast would be nice to see different items. But it's free. Rooms are slightly outdated and beds needs to be replaced. Heard they getting new drapes though. They updated cable. I like the old cable with many channels. Now its less channels. But has many online apps to choose from. Of coarse most you have to sign-up for. Main elevator seems to be unusable every so often. People say they have issues with utensils being dirty. They are not. It's due to water softener & products they use to clean with. Also people need to tell front desk about issues in rooms. Maintence is always on top of things & try to fix them right away. My AC/heater was loud. After a holiday they got it fixed real fast. (Just a bearing) Another room I I stayed in it wouldn't shut off. I got placed in another room. While they got it fixed. Rooms do have a 2 burner cook top. Which most around don't. You really dont hear the highway noise. Overall I really like staying here. Have a picture of social Wednesday, that I finnaly got to go to. Usually I work...
