I've been in worse hotels, I was originally going to give 2 stars but upon prior to checking out and doing a room check to make sure we hadn't left anything behind I discovered a bed bug on the sheets and wasn't too happy so I have to wash all our clothing and spray/sanitize our suitcases just in case, I was itchy both nights and didn't sleep well and probably this was the cause.
Our room was no frills, bare bones with no fridge which created a problem as my wife required one to keep her insulin cold so I had to head to walmart to buy her one, the bed was OK and even though it was a non-smoking room, the sheets had burn holes and there was definitely an odor. The TV didn't work either, however the bathroom was acceptable with no issues, the staff didn't really give us any major issues even with the door key failing on us for really no reason and required a new key, general lighting in the room wasn't great either, just not enough lighting at all.
The neighborhood seems very sketchy, especially at night with some shifty looking people loitering the area, looked like drug dealers and our room had no dead-bolt, it was broken. The area was also had significant amounts of pet fecal matter on the curb and the floor inside the room was sticky and dirty, didn't look to much into the state of the room as we was busy all weekend and just needed a place to rest our heads at night, cleaning and new towels was done each day and the women who checked us in was nice and friendly to us.
The location is also dangerous if approaching on US1, since its a busy divided highway with the entrance to the hotel being right next to an off ramp creating a dangerous merge when entering the parking lot, especially with traffic.
Overall, it needs better cleaning attention - wood floors need mopping frequently and it looks like this isn't being done, also rooms need to be checked for bed bugs and exterminating periodically if detected and perhaps invest a little in a bit of...
Read moreSo I checked in late after 11pm stayed in room 162. I would have left motel 6 if there was another option at that hour. The back door to the main corridor locked but was completely open. It was 22 degrees outside and all you felt was the bitter ice weather coming thru not only the bottom of the door but the whole side where the lock is. On top of that I had to turn the heat on high as high as it can go because of the freezing drafts ( open door ). The heat wasn't even heat or warm air. I paid $70 to sleep in a icebox! Also I requested extra towels for my stay because I have long hair the employee kept insisting that 2 was enough for me which it was not. Upon walking in the room it smelt like a musty cigarette room. Yes I got a smoking room but this room was stinky! Luckily I had brought fabric freshener to spray on my sheets which had burn holes in them. They didn't even attempt to hand sew them closed or better yet get rid of them. Last was the bathroom it was not clean. Leftover hair- short , long , and also not real. The reason I state that the hair was synthetic a few of them is because it's about thicker you can absolutely see it. All there cleaning lady did was replace soap towels and toilet paper. Even the to toilet under the seats were still grimly! I was a little pissed when I thought I was reserving for the motel 6 in East brunswick on 18 but I really ended up with the one in new Brunswick on rt 1. The motel 6 on rt 1 is terrible. I didn't even bother to let the employee in the morning know because she wouldn't have done not a thing. What I really wish is that you can be refunded for a disgusting trip like this. But since that never happens I need to let everyone else know not to stay here unless you're...
