Stayed there Feb.11 and 12. Arrived after our cruise via Uber. First impression was that it was a longer than expected drive from New Orleans cruise port. Uber trip was 34 U.S. Because of early arrival from cruise, we planned to drop off bags at hotel and walk around the area. at the lobby the clerk has plexiglass separating the customer at the front desk. That should have been our first clue about the uselessness of this hotel. There is no public washroom available for customers! Can you imagine travelling for miles , arriving early, and if you can't get into your room, there is no public washroom! You must go on foot to the home depot (8-10 minute walk). And there is no sidewalks from the hotel all the way to Bullard avenue( in front of Walmart) ..a 10 to 15 minute walk. The highway 10 in front of the hotel is very noisy and noticeable when you walk down the service road(stay clear of the cars). The nearest transit bus stop to New orleans is in front of Walmart as well. Bus to New Orleans stops at around 8:30 p.m. and ditto from downtown. The ride would be 45 min to 1 hour depending on traffic. Now back to the hotel... 4 stories...slow elevator...old ice machines only on the 1st and 2nd floor. Pool is seasonal thus it's closed. Gym is also closed(no reason given) There is an old, hard to operate(Via an on- line app that requires a credit card) washer and dryer set up on the 2nd floor. The free breakfast is limited, (there is no fresh fruit or meat of any kind), the 3 cereal selections are sugar laden, and the milk comes from a gallon jug. Only 1 side of the double toaster worked and there is no peanut butter. The hotel is old and it shows. The soaps are cheap and the housekeeping staff speak very little english. And keep in mind that housekeeping will only attend to your room every 3 days. On the plus side the air conditioner and the fridge worked. And upon arrival, our missing microwave was replaced within an hour. No room safe is available. There was also homeless to contend with in front of home depot trail on the way to Walmart and the bus stop. The hotel looks better on line than it does in reality. It truly is a 1 star. After day 2 of our scheduled 5 night stay, we got our 3 days refunded and left for the Hyatt Courtyard, which is more closer to downtown. My recommendation.. if you do not have a vehicle, do not book here under any circumstances. It truly is a 1 star hotel in terms of location, safety, and comforts. And the clientele can only be described as just coming out of the Bingo hall. As one who has worked in the travel/customer care industry for 35 years, ( And I have stayed in a lot of hotels through my work), don't make a booking mistake such as I did....that's my sincere...
Read moreDuring my recent stay at the Trident Hotel in New Orleans, I was disappointed to find several issues that detracted from my experience and raised concerns about the overall quality and safety of the establishment.
One of my initial concerns was the presence of chipped paint on the doors.
As Lanphear et al. (1998) highlight in their study on lead exposure, deteriorated lead-based paint poses a significant health hazard, particularly for young children.
This is a serious oversight on the part of the hotel, as it indicates a potential for lead contamination and puts guests at risk.
Adding to my apprehension was a broken fire alarm.
As Bukowski (2009) emphasized in his review of fire protection engineering, the importance of functioning fire alarm systems in ensuring occupant safety cannot be overstated.
This malfunctioning alarm represents a serious breach of safety protocols and puts guests in a potentially dangerous situation.
Furthermore, the cleanliness and odor of the hotel were unacceptable.
Lockyer's (2005) research on hotel guest satisfaction underscores the crucial role of cleanliness and hygiene in creating a positive guest experience.
The subpar conditions I encountered clearly fell short of these expectations.
To add to my disappointment, the online pictures presented a misleading portrayal of the hotel's actual condition.
Lockyer (2005) noted that accurate online representation is crucial for setting realistic guest expectations.
The discrepancy between the online images and the reality of the hotel's state was misleading and frustrating.
Considering these deficiencies, the hotel's rate of over $130 per night with a $50 deposit requirement seems unreasonable.
The substandard conditions I observed do not justify such a price point.
Overall, my experience at the Trident Hotel in New Orleans was far from satisfactory.
The combination of health hazards, safety concerns, and lack of cleanliness, with misleading online representation and high cost, raises serious questions about the hotel's commitment to guest well-being and satisfaction.

Read moreOK Budget Hotel - Close to French Quarter This hotel is just a short drive to area attractions and is close, but not too close to the highways. The exterior of the hotel has been well maintained and the outdoor pool was closed for resurfacing during our stay. The office staff at check in and out were courteous. Our room had been recently updated and was very clean with the exception of the carpet. Our bare feet actually turned black after walking on it. We did advise the housekeeping staff and they said they would vacuum, but we never saw a difference. We booked a handicap access room and the tub area was not at all handicap friendly. No taller grab bars on the shower head/faucet wall or side wall. 2 lower grab bars on the wall opposite the faucet, one of which was broken (pulled clear out of the wall anchors). The tub had unusually sloped sides and a super slippery bottom. We had to put a bath towel on the floor of the tub to feel reasonably safe while showering. The room was very quiet and there were no issues with the elevator taking us to the 4th floor. There are no views here - it's either another hotel on one side or a business on the other. They do have to make some repairs on the AC unit in the hall near the elevator as the tile floor in that area was always wet with water from the AC. They offer a complimentary continental breakfast, but it appeared to me that once set up, it was never attended to thereafter. The coffee is from a machine that is instant coffee - no brewed coffee. The first morning, no juices, the bread box had 1 bagel and a few slices of bread, 2 hardboiled eggs in a basket. The next morning, they had juices, no bagels, a basket of hardboiled eggs, and a waffle maker that was full of burned up batter. I did see cold cereal and yogurts. On both of my visits to the dining area I found the countertops and eating tables needed to be cleaned off. Again, no attention after setting it up. Our bed was comfy and we slept well. Be prepared to smell marijuana smoke as you traverse the hallways - just sayin'. I'll go 2-1/2 stars out of 5. It...
