What is this hotel? It's a 4-star built in 2021 intended bring Vegas to New York. Resorts World, which is the owner of the hotel and and adjacent casino, leverages the Hyatt brand to the benefit of its guests, mainly casino players. The hotel's cash rates are "high" to further the notion of value, which there is for the right price. Right around when the hotel had its grand opening, Hyatt had listed the price of their suites to an extremely low price. The ensuing travel blog coverage made availability of these suites drop precipitously. They have since course corrected and list the cash price of a suite at around $1199. Points bookings show standard rooms at 12,000 World of Hyatt Points which is competitive for the area, since it's the same amount as Hyatt Place in Long Island City and LaGuardia Airport and neither offer free parking.
The Executive Suite was amazing, and very immaculate. Everything about the room was as described, and though the official website is missing a lot of pictures, you can find some attached to this review and travel blogs. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer! A late check-in due to cleaning the suite meant I was able to check out at 1pm. Room requests (for instance, extra sheets) were honored, but response time left something to be desired.
If you arrive on time for food to be served, you might find the Regency Club useful. In line with many hotels' business center, the Regency Club houses a desktop computer. However, arriving at off-peak hours means there won't be much in there except for coffee (from a Douwe-Egbert machine), Teavana Tea, individually wrapped fruit, and a Rice Krispie or Brownie treat bars. Beverage selection was Pepsi products, fruit juices, and milk, though during off-peak hours these items are locked.
Is there anything else which leaves something to be desired? Of course. The opulence of the casino attracts all sorts of people, including troublemakers and problem addicts. The building is also technically owned by Resorts World, so the security is responsible for the whole building and is prominent throughout, stern but professional.
One person remarked in an earlier about how bathroom access is restricted to guests at the hotel, and not visitors to the casino itself. That is true, but what's even more frustrating is that even restricting it to paid guests hasn't stopped it from needing attention. I walked in to see what I'm sure was an art show, with the bathroom seat serving as the stage. The fact it wasn't immediately phoned in for attention after bringing it up to the front desk was rather disconcerting.
Also note that, despite the name, "Hyatt Regency Jfk Airport At Resorts World New York" is not an airport hotel. You will need to take a taxi, the Q7 or Q10 bus, or an Uber to get to the airport. Not providing a hotel shuttle is a real let down, and is classic New York Real Estate Fiction.
All in all, this place is an oasis in the outskirts of the a city. Despite the shortcomings, I still think it deserves four stars. This hotel is not for a native New Yorker experience, it's best described as a local getaway. The massive parking lots and navigation to the hotel almost assures this, and you will not go here by accident. I'd say the Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York City packs a great value for comped players, outsiders wanting to try a little something new, and seasoned travelers. On account of the distance from Manhattan, it's not the place to go if you want to be within arms reach of the city, but for many that's fine. The novelty of the hotel and its larger sized rooms make it a tempting place...
Read moreI was really hesitant to write this review, but after reaching out four or five times and still not receiving the promised call back from the general managerâor anyone from Hyatt corporate for that matterâI feel Iâve been left with no choice to post this due to there being no resolution.
My boyfriend planned a last-minute surprise trip for my 30th birthday, and we checked in on March 13th and out on the 15th. We arrived lateâaround 11 PMâbecause I had work and we had a 9 PM dinner reservation at the steak house on property
Let me start by saying Iâve stayed at this property numerous times since it opened. Aside from minor hiccups (which are normal), Iâve always had an amazing experience. The staff has typically gone above and beyond, and Iâve genuinely looked forward to staying here every time. Unfortunately, this trip was a completely different story.
My boyfriend had done a small birthday setup in the roomâjust some balloons, string decor, and cute little â30â birthday props. (Mind you, it wasnât a party it was just us 2 and service dog). As someone who works in the hotel industry myself, I understand how hard housekeepers work, and Iâm always respectful of that. We never leave rooms a mess. We stripped the bed, neatly piled the towels, and even brought a 13-gallon trash bag from home to clean up all the decor and put it in the corner. Before leaving, we asked the housekeeper directly if that was okay. She said yes and then we thanked her and handed her her tip.
After checkout, we expected our $200 deposit to be returned in a timely matter âbut instead were charged a $280 âproperty damage fee.â I was completely confused and called the accounting department first . No one ever got back to me. I then called the front desk, where the MOD at the time reviewed the notes and told me the charge was due to âleaving a mess with balloons and decor piled in the corner.â I explained again that everything was bagged up in a trash bag, and thereâs nowhere on-site for guests to dispose of large trash. We specifically asked if it was okay to leave it in the room, and the housekeeper said it was fine.
Then the story changed. She put me on hold again and came back saying it was because they had to âcall in an extra housekeeperâ to deal with it. That made absolutely no sense to me. Thenâafter I questioned thatâshe suddenly added that there was some of my dogâs hair on the floor. I calmly responded that my service dog (a 15-pound, well-groomed Jack Russell terrier) is allowed to stay with me per ADA laws, and that Iâm sorry, but I donât travel with a vacuum or broom. Still, nothing was damaged or broken. And letâs be clear: thatâs the definition of a property damage fee.
I told her if they had said, âMaâam, weâre charging you a $50 extra cleaning fee for some leftover birthday decor and dog hair,â I still wouldnât have been happy âbut at least it wouldâve made some kind of sense. Instead, I was hit with a completely unjustified $280 charge.
And every time I call Hyatt corporation, Iâm told âa manager at property will reach out in 48 hours.â Well, itâs now almost a month later, and Iâm still out $280, with zero communication or accountability from Hyatt.
This whole experience has been frustrating, disappointing, and sadly, dishearteningâespecially that I chose to celebrate something so memorable from a property I used to speak so highly of and frequent often. At the very least, I expect someone from the Hyatt to take responsibility and address this issue properly-it should never have gotten...
Read moreThe room was nice TV is a really nice size, the hot water pressure was always on point.
I never get my room clean from house keeping but these house keeper are so nice and always ask me if I need anything, in my eye sight it is a waste of time to get housekeeper to make your bed , clean your bathroom and puts towels , they can be cleaning a room for next guest who will be checking in.
The food was not good , breakfast is really sad for the cost of $25.00 it was a three day routine, that mean one day pancake, next day french toast, next day waffle and then back to pancake, the French toast was the best out the three the worst was the waffle , and all the eggs selection was no good from the powder eggs , to the want to be omelette to the quiche nothing good , it did have lunch meat and salmon so that was ok , and the cereal section was special K and total, get real where is the Cheerios, rice krispies, raisin bran the coffee machine is pretty but put out nasty coffee the K-cups in my room had better coffee, the best thing about the small eating place was the large variety of beverages from red bull, soda, water, and the best orange juice and pineapple orange juice I been to many hotels and that is far the best , the funny thing is they got all these cooks that act like chefs that is putting out food that they heat in the oven, it's not like they are making food they are heating most of it up but no problem .
Happy hour is a joke for $40.00 for three hours every thing was cold they need a better heat source, the pre made shrimp was ok but cold , pork dumplings good if it was hot, quesadilla was not quesadilla, hot bar is trash.
When the cookie and cupcakes is the center of attraction that's a problem, so I had to get filled up on the salad bar that was pretty good but same stuff everyday.
Can beer, can wine is never good , for $40.00 get bottles and get a better way to keep them cold.
The area is very small I do understand the situation is to get them in and out but a food area is a hung out spot I think all them manager walking around for got that. It was many of morning I had to eat in the lobby .
And trash cans first hotel I been to and they do not have trash can , if your think having trash can is a bad look guess again it's a bad look to have trash ,plates, coffee cups , dishes, water bottle left on a table and you have to wait for a table to get clean, I heard so many people complain about this .
It's a good thing and a bad thing , the hotel key you can only get off on your floor, if you need to go to another floor to meet up with someone you can't you have to meet them in the lobby but if there is a emergency on another floor and you have to help a family member or friend out your are screwed
This hotel is only good for three reason
casino JFK airport Parking
For the price of breakfast and happy hour the food should be must better
P.S. get microwave in room a crew member are on short time and they should not have to walk down the hall to use microwave, I am not a crew member but I seen Crew member the whole week...
