I love the convenient location of the hotel close to Central Park. It was also a great location to get on the subway if you wanted to ride the B C or D train. What I like about the location of this hotel is it's a nice quiet location compared to the hustle and bustle of a hotel on 34th Street or 42nd Street where there's tourists and foot-traffic. With the room they give you two Fiji Waters per day. There is also a resort fee that you pay per day however that does include high speed internet which is quite nice. There is no parking available so you would have to park on the street or a nearby garage. However normally there's lots of parking in the garage. But sometimes you can find free parking on the street in this area. What I chose to do was put my car in the garage and just use the Metro when I needed to go somewhere else. The hotel does not include breakfast. However it does include tea and coffee and water. There are nearby shops where you can get cheap breakfast and coffee. I didn't like that the TV only had three channels available. Not that I came here to watch TV however when I did come back to my room it would have been nice to have a little bit more of a variety. The phone in the room didn't work not sure why. But I recommend the hotel I would stay here again I enjoy the closeness to Central Park and the quietness of the hotel. When you come at the hotel there isn't a lot of foot traffic and people get to the Metro. The rooms are quaint and not huge but it's perfect especially for people who are traveling solo or a quick business trip. I enjoyed the bathrooms it was bigger than I expected private and they were very clean. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating I haven't had any issues with the staff at all.

I was only looking for a place to stay for just one night & this place was available for around $200 including taxes. Thank goodness it was only for a single night. The room is tiny - if i take just 4 steps, I'd be at the end of the room. The bathroom was tiny as well & the fan was very loud. The toilet did not flush very well - after a #2, you had to flush 3-4 times. The bathtub/shower had issues with the water draining - you would end up taking a shower with half of your feet submerged in water. The A/C seemed to give off a bad odor as well. For the price, you may want to deal with those things for a single night, but I would not recommend it for a longer stay.

The Park West Hotel is in a great location by Central Park and reasonably priced. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The staff was friendly and welcoming but to our dismay the communication was lacking. When we awoke and went to get ready for our day, we found that the water was coming out brown. We left the shower running for 15 minutes and it stayed brown. We went downstairs to see what could be done but no one had solutions or suggestions. I had to quickly find another hotel and leave fore I had a meeting in the afternoon. It was extremely inconvenient but i made it work. If The Park West Hotel gets the water situated I would stay there again.

Worst “hotel” ever! This place is still an ideal breeding ground for bed bugs just like it was back in 2016! (Stay was Feb.'19)

I'm a native Tri-Stater and have spent the last 20 years staying at hotels in N.Y.C. I know what even a halfway decent hotel should be and this place was just awful. Long story short, it was supposed to be a surprise for my 25th birthday, but please don't make the same mistake we made–AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

The beds weren't even close to being properly made when we arrived. (There was only one sheet and one blanket; no second sheet and nothing was properly made) There was physical damage to everything in the room from the beds to the walls to the windows to everything in the bathroom. And I mean everything: tissue box; mirror; bathtub; hot water pipe, etc. I found hair, crumbs, mold, dust and stains everywhere in the room, (including in/on my bed) The showers don't work, even when you use their stupid ring-pulling system and the water goes from cold to hot way too fast and the hot water only lasts about 5 minutes The complimentary snack spread was weak and could only accommodate like 10 people at best The water in the lobby was contaminated; dispenser hadn’t been cleaned in forever Doormen only ever held the door open for us twice during our 3-night stay The elevator is disturbingly small and the stairs are narrow and uneven, (as are the rooms; as in, the floors are literally slanted and their are damaged and uneven tiles and flooring under their carpets everywhere from the hallways to the rooms) The "hotel" faces what is arguably the worst part of Central Park Window views were of alleyway There were alarmingly loud neighbors over near Manhattan Ave who kept blasting music every night from 11:30pm to 3:15am The WiFi is a joke, the T.V.'s suck, the lighting in the rooms is horrendous and the pipes make some of the worst noises I've ever heard. (Trust me, it was fairly warm during my stay, so there was no reason for such loudly clanking pipes) Nearly all of the staff is extremely rude and/or alarmingly incompetent and very few speak English and those who did speak proper and fluent English were often unpleasant. (With too many of the staff, I had to break out several simple phrases just to communicate with them in their own respective languages) They didn't understand the words "hot", "cold", "plumbing" or the phrase, "please come back, later". And before you attack me, I'm actually Brown and foreign-born to a country with a notoriously low English-speaking population, so I'm not at all being racist. They really can’t speak English!) Our toilet kept clogging and their bathroom in the basement "cafe" area beneath the lobby didn’t have any soap—only the small body lotion provided in lieu of body wash in guests' showers The "janitor" guy from maintenance carries around an extra large garbage bag with a small plunger to unclog toilets. Said bag is full of waste and dirty water and is brought directly into your room...

AND THE WORST PART IS, THEY HAVEN'T CHANGED ANYTHING THING SINCE THEY WERE THE INFAMOUS, BED BUG-INFESTED ASTOR HOTEL! I wouldn't be surprised if they still have bed bugs! Place looks no different and has stuff from both the Astor as well as The Blake Hotel in North Carolina everywhere, (the latter of which makes no sense at all)! If it wasn't for a nice Ukrainian housekeeper named Vera, we would have left the first night and lost our money. She did her best to pick up the slack of the other housekeepers who weren’t doing anything. She salvaged our trip, (barely). If you do manage to stay open, give her a raise!

Anyway, I'm reporting this "hotel" to the BBB, any and all relevant powers in the City of New York, the New York State Department of Health and Expedia. Heck, I may even file a lawsuit! PLEASE AVOID! You're better off sleeping directly in Central Park!

Please help me and others have this place shut down and take your business elsewhere! I’ll be positing a video soon of my experience and may even send it a few reporters that I...

This was the absolutely worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!! Don't trust the pictures this place is a dump. . . It only gets one star because of the simple fact that is is across from central park which my husband and I loved to walk through in the morning. Despite that minor attraction this place isn't worth your money even if you are trying to save a few dollars. There is no way ADA approved there are no ramps into the lobby of the hotel and the elevator was so tiny and in disarray, I chose to take the stairs the whole time. . .luckily I was only on the second floor. I had the immense discomfort of staying in this place for 5 days. My father-in-law had reserved 5 rooms for our family because we had traveled from various states to attend a graduation. The pictures on the website are totally misleading so BIG props to the photographer. The rooms and bathrooms are very small and the beds uncomfortable. The service staff failed to clean our rooms on several occasions and we were without fresh towels. Even when I called the front desk for anything service was slow. Several things were broken or not properly working. My mother's AC was broken and had to be replaced while we were there. My mother-in-law's TV didn't work and worst of all my father-in-law got stuck in the elevator. The front desk clerk called maintenance to get him out but he didn't know how to properly free my father-in-law. So emeregency elevator service was called. While we waited my husband figured out how to work the elevator mechanism and managed to get his father out of that death trap. Meanwhile the emergency elevator service never showed up. . .When we asked the front desk clerk if this had happened before and what was their protocol for situations like this if someone is in bad health. . .she replied that it had happened in the past and she wouldn't know what to do except try to get them out. However she was very nice and told us that the manager would be in and we could speak with her about the strife we had experienced and possibly recoup some hotel fees. I am unaware if the manager ever came to the hotel however the manager in exercising good customer service should have promptly sought us out or made an effort to be readily accessible. Then to top it all off when we go to check out the front desk clerk tells us that additional fees needs to be paid and hands us a bill for $114.00 per room. My husband quickly informed the clerk that these fees had been paid prior to checkin and that the pervious clerk at check never mentioned such outstanding cost, actually she informed is that such costs were already paid. .unfortunately we didn't have time to argue because we had to catch a flight. . . Luckily my father-in-law and mother-in-law were checking out later and handled the situation, no additional fees were paid!! This place may look like a gem but don't trust it and go...

My gf and I stayed in the room for 7 days in July. I am originally from NY now residing in NC and liked the location for a quick visit back home. Overall the room was about 1k for the week or so we thought. Let’s start with check in. Upon entering the outside gives you kind of an upscale feel with an incredibly nice door man. When you walk up to the counter to check in the ladies are very overwhelmed and kind of everywhere but doing there best to get all the guests supported which I appreciated. Once checked in we get to what feels like the smallest elevator in NY and go up to our room on the 6th floor. We stayed in a room with one Queen sized bed which seemed enough as it was just the two of us. The rooms are TINY. It’s almost so small you are tripping over your own bags (as there is one tiny closet) and bed to get around. The tv is is also tiny and only shows about 8 channels all shows from what feels like the 70’s through to the early 90’s and a couple channels that are audio only. As we weren’t in the room much unless it was to shower or sleep that wasn’t too bad however getting the hotel to change the bed with fresh sheets and provide clean towels and wash cloths is very difficult. We had to remove the sheets from the bed as they kept making the bed with the same old sheets and call down to the front desk for clean towels as none were left in the room once cleaned. The bathrooms are also tiny and the showers have a partial glass door that covers half the shower and the rest is exposed. It’s like taking a shower with no curtain or door to cover you. The floor in the bathroom was cracked and the tub was chipped up at the bottom. The best part was checking out and realizing on top of the daily hotel fees that we knew we would be charged we had a weird 267 dollar fee taken from my account that nobody could explain. When asked to bring a manager out the gentleman explained that the manager has lots of properties and wasn’t there and he didn’t know when he would come back. He also shared that it was normal for no manager or hotel supervisor to be in the building. We went back and forth regarding the charge and it still has not been refunded or explained even after reaching out to the hotel. The gentleman assured me the manager would call us back the next day and took information and he never called we called after hearing nothing for about two days after checking out. Overall the hotel is very disorganized and outdated. Not worth the money even if it is in a nice location. Stay with some friends or get an Airbnb. These hotels are getting sneakier and more overpriced by the day but this hotel is one...
