Honestly there are so many other nail salons in this neighborhood, just choose one of those instead. They do a pretty average/mediocre job, are incredibly sneaky with their pricing, they take forever, and the owner is incredibly rude. They took 3 hours to do a fairly basic gel mani/pedi and my nails still ended up embarrassingly chunky. They don’t have clear pricing posted and sneak in the charges at the end. I was charged for “nail shortening” which I’ve never been charged for before and they charged me an additional $60 for chrome which is insane especially considering the quality. So I was charged an additional $70 for cutting my nails and adding chrome powder. What really put the nail in the coffin was the way the owner decided to handle me when I said something. She immediately began to condescend to me asking “well are you from New York?” Which is hilarious because I literally live across the street. She then continued to try to belittle me by saying if I was on a budget I should have asked about pricing. She and the receptionist also lied and said “nobody has ever had a problem with the pricing” which is also hilarious because one of the first reviews specifically addresses their sneaky pricing specifically regarding chrome. If you read on you see multiple other customers complaining about their “sneaky pricing”. It’s pretty obvious the owner didn’t understand customer service in any way because if she did she would know that not clearly displaying your pricing is in fact shady. If I was going to pay $150 for a manicure I would go to a place that actually does a manicure that is that quality instead of a chunky mediocre one that included an incredibly unsavory back and forth with someone who obviously knows nothing about customer service or how to run an...
Read moreWent once before and it was mostly fine. The woman doing my nails accidentally cut my finger but i get that things happen so i let it go. I decided to come again for gel x removal and that’s why I’m leaving this review now. You have to prepay for the entire service online and they have zero grace period if you are slightly late. The train I was on got rerouted and I was unfortunately delayed so I called them and tried to reschedule (about three hours before my appointment) They told me I could not reschedule for the next day without being charged the full fee AGAIN. Still, I understood that my train being delayed was not their fault so I was going to let it go. I ended up arriving home basically right on time and called them to let them know I was running over but would be 10 minutes late. I even decided to skip lunch (despite not eating a single thing all day) to make this appointment. I’m sure many review readers who have been to nail salons before are familiar with there being a 10-15 minute grace period. However, they told me that they would be unable to fit me in at all (for my nail REMOVAL by the way, a service which takes about 15 minutes of filing and 15 minutes of me just sitting there on my own and soaking) but that they would still charge me the full fee. They then asked if I wanted to reschedule for the next morning and I asked if I’d have to pay again and they said yes so I promptly declined. The woman on the phone was not rude, but i was very taken aback by the total lack of care and understanding for customers that i experienced. Complete waste of $16, if you’re looking to get your fake nails removed just use that money to buy some acetone and file like I should have in the...
Read moreThe worst Mani/pedi experience I've ever had. Got a very dry, very blah mani/pedi 24hrs ago and my polish is chipping. I'm not hard on my hands and given that my nails are naturally long, strong and healthy, I tend to do my nails myself. When I do them, my polish lasts and I pay close attention to detail but I'm not a pro so I go to a salon for professional treatment. The cold water pedi, hard chairs and dry mani (no cuticle soak, just a thin line of softener) left my feet and hands worse off than how I showed up.
For gels, extensions, dips, designs, swirls and swoops, they may be good. But if you're a natural nail girlie who has a disdain for electric sanding heads being used to saw off the top layer of your natural cuticle only to look like you let your lil cousin do your nails, this is not for you. This spot has high prices for low rent results. There's another great option close...with massage chairs, no cold standing pedi water and warm water for cuticles.
p.s. I just skimmed the reviews and noticed that there are many positive postings for gels, acrylics etc and natural basic manicures seem to get the most criticism. Natural nail care and attention may not be the thing here, FYI.
Update: Sigh. A week later, as I feared, 4 of my natural nails broke at the tips due to the ridiculous electric filing saw that destroyed my own nail bed. Should be a crime to use that on any natural nail...that's not the purpose for that tool. If you can't do the most basic healthy natural nail care, what are you even doing? When clients take off their gels and dips, are you leaving them with unhealthy nubs?
Wish the crepes restaurant was still in that...
