Hello,||I'm sorry to say that this property is, at least for the moment, a stain on Hyatt's reputation. The stay was far below expectations. I know that much of the management is in the hands of a third-party company but either way, this place needs lots of improvement. Even in its short duration so far, the hotel garners only 3.0 or, 3.5 stars, which is somewhat of an indication that I am not the only person that has experienced a problem. This stay was not my first time there. On a previous stay, I woke up with many insect bites and the room also had a very bad odor. I was able to change rooms after the first night. However, when I reported this to the front desk upon check-out, I was met with what bordered on hostility and, a lack of concern. I was also told that the hotel does not have on-site management. The woman at the front simply said "thanks for letting me know" with quite a negative tone, with regard to the initial room and its issues. No empathy, no apology, no indication they would address the problem for future guests.||I thought I would drop the GM a quick note but, the staff person refused to give me any contact information and further said that they operate without a general manager, which is something that I have not ever encountered with any hotel property anywhere in the world, to be honest. ||I also want to emphasize in the strongest possible terms that I was cordial and pleasant. Other staff members and definitely other Hyatt properties would ratify that this is how I conduct myself. When I returned for this most recent stay, I was assigned the same room. I was not aware that it was the same room until later on. Although the room still had a foul odor and had an unclean bathroom, it was late and I let it be. However, I ended up with more bites and actually saw insects. For the second night I was given a different room. This obviously demonstrated that the initial rude person at the front desk the last time did absolutely nothing to rectify the problem for future guests. I was able to take some pictures of the unclean bathroom. As an aside, I had just exchanged emails with the sales manager, as we have some upcoming groups to book. I obviously won't book them here. As someone who travels a lot and is a million-point World of Hyatt member across a couple of accounts, I am eminently disappointed. You will be, too if this hotel doesn't get its...
Read moreI have stayed at countless hotels, including many Hyatt properties, but I have never experienced such blatant mismanagement, safety breaches, and disregard for guests â especially at a brand-new hotel. Hyatt Place Newark/Silicon Valley should be an embarrassment to the Hyatt brand.||||1. Multiple Room Failures & Unprofessional Staff||I was first checked into a room with broken blinds. The front desk associate, who smelled strongly of weed and was visibly high, actually asked me if I âreally needed blinds.â I was then moved to a room with no working AC. After speaking to Luiz, the General Manager, I was reassigned to a room that already belonged to another guest â complete with their name card and fruit plate. When I told him this was obviously wrong, Luiz insisted it was correct.||||2. Privacy & Security Violations||While I was off property, my belongings â including work equipment and prescription medication â were forcibly removed from the wrong room and placed into yet another room without my knowledge or consent. This is a serious violation of guest trust, privacy, and security protocols.||||3. Property Neglect & Poor Operations||The elevators were out of order, multiple rooms had non-functioning AC, and breakfast was appallingly inadequate. At one point, there were Lucky Charms cereal scattered across the floor in the dining area. Luiz himself came to the area, spoke with staff, and still left it there for guests to walk around.||||4. Management Failure & Token âApologyâ||For all of this, I received nothing more than a small bag of Cheetos and a Kind bar. No written apology. No accountability from Luiz. No assurance that guest safety or operational issues would be addressed.||||Hyatt corporate should be alarmed â this is a brand-new property that already operates like a neglected roadside motel. If this is how they treat guests now, I canât imagine how bad it will get over time. Until there is a complete change in leadership and a serious retraining of staff, this hotel is a liability to the Hyatt name and a risk...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hyatt from August 14â17 as a family of four with an infant. The staff were very welcoming, quickly provided us with extra towels, linens, and a crib, and the room was spacious with two queen beds plus a pullout sofaâperfect for our family. Parking was easy and included, the location was convenient, and reception was always friendly and attentive to our requests.
The main downside was breakfast. Each morning, most items were cold or lukewarm, food and utensils often ran out, and guests frequently had to ask for replenishments instead of the staff automatically replenishing items as needed without prompt from guests. Every morning there was minimal fruit and we were told only a limited amount of fruit is put out every morning, the hard boiled eggs were cold, the flour tortillas were warm which was a good, the scrambled eggs were cold and the breakfast potatoes were cold and the waffles or pancakes were typically warm. On Saturday, coffee ran out early and wasnât replaced; on Sunday, hot water ran out well before breakfast ended. Other guests, including us, voiced the same concerns to front reception. Only on our last morning did we finally have hot scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. Plus on the last day the French toast was warm and tasted good. While staff did a good job maintaining food safety by reminding guest to put the utensils on the side, not inside the food pot and and staff would change the utensils if they noticed that somebody took their food out of the pot and put the utensil back inside the pot instead of putting it to the side of the pot, the overall quality and consistency of breakfast was disappointingâeasily the weakest part of our stay.
That said, we would stay here again for the great rooms, service, and parkingâbut weâd skip the breakfast and grab...
