The Perfect Dog-Friendly Stay in Newport đŸâ€ïž
My boyfriend and I had the BEST time here! From the moment we arrived, the innkeepers were so warm and welcoming â greeting our pup with a treat, giving us a little tour of the property, and making us feel instantly at home. They are truly kind, caring people who love what they do, and it shows in every detail. Itâs rare to find a place thatâs this dog-friendly without compromising on style or cleanliness, but they absolutely nailed it.
The location is amazing â just a short walk to the marina, great restaurants, cute shops, and beautiful parks â yet itâs so peaceful and quiet when youâre back at the inn. The reserved parking was a huge plus, and it made getting around a breeze.
Inside, everything was spotless. The rooms are beautifully decorated with so much charm, and the bathrooms are bright and pristine. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the linens were super clean, fresh, and very nice â the kind you canât wait to get into after a long day exploring. You can tell every detail is cared for.
Breakfast was very nice â cute, fresh, and made with so much thought. There were delicious egg sandwiches, fresh fruit, yogurts, and a great selection of teas, all beautifully presented. They happily catered to any dietary needs, and coffee and tea were available all day â plus a fancy coffee machine to make cappuccinos, espressos, and whatever you might be craving. Perfect for early walks or winding down in the evening.
The way they welcomed our dog was truly above and beyond â from greeting him with treats to having fresh, filtered water available at all times. There were plenty of cozy nooks for him to curl up and relax in the room , and we loved sharing quiet moments together on the rooftop deck, the sunny outdoor patio, and the charming front porch, all perfect spots to sit with our pup and soak in the peaceful surroundings.
If you want a place in Newport thatâs beautiful, clean, perfectly located, and truly welcoming to both people and pups, this is it. We are already planning our...

We recently(Sept 2018) stayed at Newport Blues Inn. We were instructed to check in at their sister property Black Duck Inn, aka Pelham Street Inn. When we got there we were in shock. Inside it was such a dirty, dated, dump with a foul odor. There we met Diane, the Innkeeper. She was faux friendly and messed up our room assignment and also issued the wrong parking pass. (parking is inconveniently offsite). Diane was also pretty much useless when issues arose. We could only pray that The Newport Blues Inn was not as bad as Black Duck Inn in appearance or smell. Well, The Newport Blues Inn is barely mediocre. No real charm as itâs furnished with a cross between Furn-A-Kit furniture and Thrift store leftovers. It looks more like off campus housing for your kid's college. The stairs leading upstairs were slanted like a Carnival Funhouse. There were so many dust bunnies under the bed and hairs(not ours) on the dingy bedspread. Peeling and chipped paint everywhere(my photos donât lie) from years of neglect, yet Diane will tell you, âWeâre renovating soon!â ( I doubt it ) There was no hot water(NONE) in the Barbie doll sized bathroom sink and very little hot water with virtually no water pressure whatsoever in the shower. From what I understand, itâs an ongoing issue. When we asked Diane to switch our room she wouldnât and only made excuses. I told her it is not sanitary and a serious inconvenience, especially after visiting The Cliff Walk on this unseasonably warm day. Diane then says, âI credited you 10%.â I asked that she give us the âoff seasonâ rate or the 'weekday rate' for the room if you are not going to fix the issue. She then blamed the corporate office. When you try to call the corporate office theyâre trained to convince you the paltry 10% refund is a good deal(itâs NOT) and expect you to just go away. You'll have NO recourse. Sure theyâre close to downtown⊠but EVERYTHING in Newport is close...
Read moreA wonderful experience from start to finish. Pre-trip emails were answered quickly. Check in went smoothly. Maria, the manager, was very pleasant and helpful. She gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to eat while in Newport. She answered her phone right away when we needed help and she arrived promptly to help. Staff was pleasant, helpful and gracious. They do a wonderful job keeping the inn in wonderful shape as you would never know it was a dog friendly hotel as the scent of the hotel was crisp and clean. The doggie decor was very cute and appropriate. Each room had bed space for your dog and a water and food bowl too. Our room looked exactly like the photo online. Breakfast was fabulous! The main dishes were excellent! Loved the blueberry French toast casserole. The savory offerings on other days were a breakfast sandwich of prosciutto, fresh Mozzarella, fried egg and arugula. Another was a fritatta and our final one was roast beef, cheese, fried egg and arugula sandwich. If you did not want those options, there was fruit, yogurt, oatmeal as well. Their chefs are excellent. Room was comfortable and bathroom was beautiful. There was also a TV, white noise machine and AC that was room controlled. Entry was keyless. There is a parking spot for your room at the Elks lodge about 2 blocks away. You are given a parking pass for your front window for your stay. Location short walk (10 minutes or so) to the main street and area attractions.
Only downside (besides having to go home) was could have either a bigger waste basket in the room or one waste basket in the bathroom and another in the bedroom. But if that was the only downside, the Paws on Pelham is a well run inn.
Would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for a great...
