The Almondy Inn is such a warm, cozy and inviting Bed and Breakfast. The innkeepers John and Laurence are the nicest people and treated us like royalty. Laurence puts her heart into the little things that make this bed and breakfast a success. Her breakfasts which include not only a delicious meal like french toast and Eggs Benedict included fresh pastries, mimosas and sculpted fruit. She also prepares freshly baked chocolate chip cookies each day. She is warm, inviting, and you feel nestled in her care. You genuinely can sense how much love and effort she puts to make everyone feel at home while staying here. John is equally as inviting and attentive to his guests. He highlighted the areas for us to visit and eat while in Newport. We thoroughly enjoyed talking to him and the care that he took in serving us along with the friendly attendant at breakfast each morning. He also gives one hundred percent to make each guest feel welcomed. The wine and cheese hour each night is such a special touch to get to know all the other guests and the innkeepers on a more personal level. The Plantation Room where we slept had all the added necessities that one could think of including ear buds, makeup towels, robes, water, coffee.. the list could go on. The bed was super comfy. The view from the large windows gave us access to see the waterways of Newport. The bedroom was fresh and updated. The inn was also beautifully decorated for Christmas with a beautiful tree and ornaments displayed in the house. Thank you Laurence and John for an amazing time in Newport! My husband and I definitely felt like we were in the Gilded Age by the way that you both pampered us. We hope to see you again when the weather...
Read moreFirst, the only minus; due to a tub mishap around three years ago (I believe), there was a major water leak from our room. Repairs were made that look great, but, left a major tilt to the bathroom floor in our room. Iâm not talking a quaint or quirky minor tilt like an older home may have, but a noticeable tilt that say, a secret service director might comment upon as unsafe for agent placement. Everything else about our stay was great. I thought the bed was a tad too soft ( I could fall asleep on asphalt), but my girlfriend loved it. She also thought the pillows were the best from any stay, anywhere at any time. The service was close to perfect. The innkeeper, John, was a kind fellow who allowed us an early check-in. The room was clean. Exceptional kudos to assistant innkeeper, Shelby. She hosted the five oâclock wine and cheese get together, baked killer chocolate chip cookies, cooked and managed the delicious breakfast the next morning, was personable, down to earth, intelligent and tireless. Dozens of restaurants and bars are a short walk from the Almondy Inn. Remarkably, it was very quiet on a Friday night. I did hear a slightly inebriated singalong from the piano bar down the street; also, a few drunken bachelorette partygoers walked by on the way back to their retreats. More amusing than annoying. The Almondy consists of five rooms; it was full but I never heard any noise from any room at any time. Would we go again?...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed at the Almondy Inn, every year... for over a decade. The original owners were absolutely amazing, hence our continued business over the years. When they had sold, to retire, my wife and I feared we had "lost this gem". We did return the year they had sold and other than the amazing Mrs.Claudette, it just didn't feel like "what it was, what we remembered it to be". This week we took another chance, following the shutdown of 2020....Just returning, I couldn't wait to to sit and write this review! The magic is back! Laurence and John were the most gracious and attentive hosts...tending to our needs, from the moment we walked into the front foyer. At every turn, we were told it is your home, make yourself comfortable and help yourself. Rooms, as we always remembered, were quaint, clean and well appointed. Appreciated touches of modern relevant but not overdone. The daily wine and cheese had a start time but we were never rushed to wrap it up. It caused all of the guests to feel comfortable and we engaged with each other to the point of kindling new friendships. As a professional chef, I can attest....the breakfasts were absolutely amazing with dietary needs being met. Breads and croissants baked fresh and the crepes and omelettes tender and flavorful. I believe, the Almondy Inn to meet and exceed your expectations. Truly driven by a great staff and hosts. We will...
