THIS PLACE HAS BED BUGS!!!!! In the middle of the night at 1 a.m. I woke up due to itching on my arm. I turned the light on to find bug bites and as I was searching through the pillows and blankets I found a bed bug. Naturally I freaked out so my husband killed it. He took pictures of the bite marks and we went down to the front desk and told the attendant what happened. The attendant acted as if she weren't surprised but she was polite and apologized and offered to give us a new room and said Mike, the general manager, would refund us the money for the room. My husband and I weren't thrilled about going to another room but were too tired to find another hotel in the middle of the night so we packed everything up and went to our 2nd room. Upon walking into that room there was a dirty cleaning rag one of the maids had left on the night stand. I was disgusted because who knows how many toilets that rag has seen. Besides it left me to wonder had that room even been cleaned? So my husband and I made our way down a 2nd time to the front office and as we were walking, we saw a roach going from one room to the next. As we arrived to the office, there was another couple reporting the same bed bug issue in a different room. Once it was our turn again we told her about the dirty rag. She then proceeded to give us a third room. The third room was up to their standards of cleanliness...the floors didn't look like they were swept or mopped and had hair plus something spilled on the floor. Not a major spill but some droplets of soda or something (which was the same in all the rooms) there was some faded brown stain on the wall of the shower...the front desk attendant had told us that that was the last room she had available so there was nothing else she could do. We checked the bed for bugs and didn't see any so we tried to make the best of it even though I had a hard time sleeping. The next morning we went down to check out and asked to speak to Mike, the general manager about the refund. He said he had got the note from the overnight attendant and asked if I had a picture of the bed bug. I explained my husband had killed it but I had pictures of the bite marks on my arm. He didn't want to see the pictures of the bite marks and he did not believe that I had been bitten by a bed bug because I didn't have a picture of the actual bug. I was irate and threatened to write reviews and call the health inspector and he still did not care. I told him that his establishment was infested with bed bugs and he told my husband and I that we could go back to room 507 and check the bed for bugs, that the door was open because the maid was in there cleaning. So my husband and I went back to room 507, flipped the mattress over and sure enough there was ANOTHER bed bug. I have a video but I'm not able to upload it here but I will try to upload it on Google reviews and Facebook. Anyways, in the video after we discovered the bed bug, we tracked down Mike who ironically was on the 5th floor not too far from the room. He came in with the maintenance man and the maintenance man had taken a napkin and picked it up and determined it was a bed bug. In the meantime, Mike swore up and down it wasn't a bed bug and he even went as far to accuse my husband and I of planting the bed bug!!! Who does that?!?! Who carries around bed bugs with the intention of planting them?!?! I'm normally not one to snitch or complain in excess, but I have a legitimate concern about the healthiness/cleanliness of this facility and I would feel terrible if the same thing had happened to someone else and I did nothing to try and warn the public. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had as a customer in ANY type of business and most definitely the worst experience at a hotel. This was my first and last time ever staying at a Days Inn. DO NOT STAY AT THE DAYS INN BY THE NORFOLK AIRPORT OFF OF MILITARY HIGHWAY BY THE OLD TOYS R US!!! IT HAS BED BUGS AND THE GENERAL MANAGER MIKE ACCUSES YOU OF PLANTING THE BED BUGS SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO...
Read moreWe booked the days inn for 6 nights hoping for a nice stay, we did not have that. When we arrived and checked in we got our key card and got to our room, the key card did not work. There were multiple occasions the key card didn’t work so we had to go get another one made. The staff told us ur phone or other credit cards could de-activate it and blamed it on us as to why the key cards didn’t work. We have stayed at many other hotels for vacations using key cards like these and had not had this much trouble with the key cards not working because they were near our phones or credit cards. The elevator also did not work, if you wanted to go to the first floor it usually did not take you to the first floor usually any other floor but the one you wanted. We ended up taking the stairs to our fourth floor room instead of the elevator. House keeping cleaned our room ONCE out of the six nights we were there. Also the ice machines did not work most of the time. One of the ice machines didn’t work at all and the other never had any ice made to be able to put in a cooler so we had warm drinks and food when we went to the beach. The building was very old and most likely a fire hazard and needs some updates. The room was also not very clean, our sheets and pillow cases had stains on them, I ended up wishing I could have brought my own pillow to sleep on, the bathroom door had huge chunks of paint missing from it and the toilet seat was broken. The lamp shades on our lamps in the room were also broken, literally falling off the lamp and the lamps leaned against the walls to stay standing up. We were very unsatisfied and irritated our entire stay at the days inn. It would have been nice to have been offered a discount or refund but instead we were blamed for key cards not working 5 out of the 6 nights we stayed and figured it was useless to ask for a new room considering the terrible shape the hotel was in. We DO NOT recommend staying at this days inn. Spend the money and find a nicer, cleaner hotel to stay in that has functioning/ not broken critical parts...
Read moreDO NOT BOOK HERE!! SAVE YOURSELF! Okay so here’s the situation we went through we called the third party number that we used to book the hotel in the first place for Aug 2-4th and we were asking if we can get a refund for the last night because of how bad the place was. Nothing worked (toilets didnt flush ac barley worked )and we wanted out they told us we needed to get approved from the hotel to get refunded. So we go to the front desk and ask them and they say that we need to call the third party and we told them that we just got off the phone with them. So the guy said he needed to call his manager and they would call us back with an answer. Hours later nothing so we call the third party again and they said that the manager had rejected our refund so we were like damn. We were still out and by the time we came home to the hotel our card key didn’t unlock the door around midnight we go to the front desk ask them why and they said we checked out. We had told them before that we weren’t going to check out unless we got a refund and they still did it without letting us know. So we asked for our refund or a new room and he said he needed to call his manager for a refund and no new room. I also asked for our deposit back that we had to give up because we were 18 years old and he said it was already given back although I still see no pending refund. So we ended up having to book a different place at 1 in the morning. Then when we woke up we called them asking to speak to the manager and they refused to give us their number due to him being “busy” . Awful experience and the staff were very disrespectful tried to gaslight us into saying we checked out although we never did. This place needs to get shut down. Hopefully I get refunded but I write this review 2 days after to hopefully save...
