Buyer beware!!!
We have bought numerous pieces of furniture from The Dump in Norfolk over the past decade. It is clear that their customer service and management has degraded to a completely unsatisfactory level.
Our latest purchase was a couch which we bought less than a year ago. The couch was clearly made very cheaply and has completely collapsed. At the time of purchase I paid for the additional insurance as a precaution. We attempted to file a claim over 2 months ago and were given the run around by the management staff at the Dump. It took nearly 3 weeks for them to put in the claim.
When the claim was finally submitted it took an additional week for the "repair service" to be sent out to evaluate the couch. I understand that especially during the current COVID situation that may be out of their control. However, the service technician informed us that they did not have the proper materials to fix our couch.
It has been an additional month of calling every day trying to get ahold of someone at the store. Utilizing the chat feature that they claim is the correct method to get in contact with them has proven completely useless. Every time we try to use it we get told "we will have to reach out to the repair company and get back to you". No one ever does.
The insurance I purchased is supposed to either cover the repair of the item, or provide store credit to replace the item if unrepairable. The damage that the couch has developed is causing injury to my children on a nearly daily basis. I have no where to store the couch while we wait for the Dump to repair or replace it. I was also told in no uncertain terms that if I make any attempt to repair the couch myself it will void the coverage I purchased.
Bottom line is that they are selling subpar furniture that will break and injure your family. Additionally they will refuse to make any reasonable attempt to rectify the problem even when you purchase their additional insurance. Might as well save your money, slice open your own leg, and sit bleeding on the floor. Because that is all shopping at this location...
Read moreMy experience with the Dump Norfolk was absolutely atrocious. If I could put a negative star I would. I went to this location, after having everything approved online and could shop online to allow my father to pick the items he would want for his new apartment. Our sales lady, however seaming to be relatively new, did everything she could to satisfy our needs. However, the finance member was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Once we finalized the order and made our way over, he was completely rude and obnoxious to the sales rep, and after explaining that I already had an account online, commenced to have me fill out an additional credit app for the same company that I had the approved account for. While filling out the requested app, he commenced to have a side conversation with another employee, with a customer at the counter, discussing how he had another customer say they had an account as well and it was false. As he continue to converse with the other sales rep, his arrogance continued until I asked him to stop due to it being unprofessional to discuss other customers in front of new customer. He got very aggressive and refused. He continued to discuss what I advised as being and unprofessional discussion and I addressed it a second and third time until my frustration got the better of me. At that time, I stopped filling out the requested app, which was not required as I could order everything online, lost my temper and started to leave. The sales rep, in an attempt to rectify the situation, brought the manager over. I explained the situation and she provided no recourse or TRUE APOLOGY for her employees action and we then immediately departed. In my 30 plus years of being in a customer service oriented field, I have never been treated so poorly. The Dump has lost a potential customer and with my extensive Navy network, probably the potential of 10s of thousands more as well. A completely unprofessional organization. Will never attempt to shop in...
Read moreWe were there today (Dec 4, 2016) for a total of 35-40 minutes and never ONCE did an employee even greet us! Much less offer assistance to help us find what we were looking for our help with questions we may have. We walked in ready to locate and purchase a king size bed, mattress, and adjustable frame. We couldn't find anything that had the information we wanted, but we even decided to walk around the store before leaving, to see if anyone would approach us. No one ever did. So instead of spending the money we brought, excited about our new purchase, we walked out, IMMENSELY DISAPPOINTED. This is the absolute WORST customer service I have ever experienced! We will never return nor will we ever spend money at this place. We are taking our business elsewhere.
Upon walking in, the place looked very nice. They had a lot of interesting items, and plenty of employees to help us in choosing what we came for. We planned a drive there to choose and purchase a king size bed with adjustable frame because we were interested and researched it for awhile and we wanted to find the perfect one for our need. We checked out the mattress section and kept looking at all the different selections, but the questions we had remained unanswered. NO ONE EVER APPROACHED US TO HELP! Even when we kept looking around for people and genuinely looked like we needed some assistance, no one cared. We looked around. 2 or 3 employees were standing around having a conversation with each other and completely ignoring all customers. Another man was on his cell phone talking to whomever he felt was more important than helping customers. Numerous others were just standing around and watching things but never moving to go offer help. Some kept walking back and forth but never stopped any of the customers that they passed.
This company could have been promising, and we would have used them for all of our larger furniture decisions. Now that will...
