Genghis Khan has been around many years and it's been awhile since I've gone there. We went on 2/27/21 around 230 p.m. You must check your forehead temperature upon entering using a device on the wall. Plastic food handling gloves and hand sanitizer is located at the front end of the buffet, however I observed several patrons by-pass both and staff does not monitor usage. After filling bowls with raw protein and vegetables, you add spices using ladle that everyone uses. I did not observe any sanitizing of the ladle or other utensils at the buffet. There did not appear to be empty tables separating different parties for social distance. The food was just okay, nothing special. The hot & sour soup was good; salad was okay but dressing was watery and tasteless. Our server was slow and not helpful at all. I will not return to this restaurant.

I've been coming here since I was a baby, and my parents have come since they were dating. The place is just THAT good. The unique thing about Genghis Khan's is that you basically make your own meal versus ordering from a menu. You walk up to the grill, grab your bowl, and choose what to put in your food, right down to the spices and ingredients. You can't go wrong, especially when it's all you can eat ($8 lunch and $11 dinner, currently). Quality of service has gone down a little since the original set of staff has mostly retired. Everyone is still pleasant and willing to help out the first timers, but it's a little awkward being stared at while I sign my receipt. I love this restaurant, and it's not an experience you'll soon forget.

Very limited options if you are vegetarian. Only one star, outdated interior, limited options, poor service, there was no menu provided. There were few soup options but the waitress wasn’t able to tell us if it was vegetarian. I am not sure if soup is extra. We had the bowl, broccoli didn’t look fresh, I counted 4 slices of tomatoes in the buffet, spring onion tray was empty. Very very limited veggie options. The sauces had no salt in it, very limited options. The chef didn’t know what was in Mongolian sauce. When we got our bill it was $60 odd for 3 ppl, it was a waste of time and money. Btw soda is $2 extra.

I have been going here for 35 years. I have NEVER worked at a restaurant, or been to a restaurant whose hours state they are open to a certain time, WITH THEIR OPEN SIGN STILL ON and them not serve food till closing. If you can't hold to your hours, then change them!!! You don't shut down before you close and tell people you can't serve them. I understand I showed up at 8:30pm (I worked all day since 6:30am and it was the earliest I could get there), and you close at 9, but that still left me with 30 mins, AND the fact is your listed closing time is 9PM!!! When I walked in, and ask if you were still serving (though your open sign said open), I was told only for to go orders. Though you are a sit down restaurant, and I actually wanted to sit down and wasn't exactly pleased at that, I decided to get what I could with the to go option... only to walk to the grill to get my food and half the stuff was already packed away, which didn't even allow me to get a to go order after all.... and me coming in and attempting to even get a to go order at 8:30 apparently sparked an argument between the cook and the host. Being 8 months pregnant, and having this as a craving, I can't tell you how infuriated I am. Fix your hours, or stay open with food to be served till your hours actually say you close!! After all these negative reviews in the last year about the quality of service, and general attitude towards your customers... I would be quick to start making some changes before you end up another closed down restaurant! You have lost your self a long time customer, bc I will be from here on out going to your...

I've been in the Hampton Roads area since 2005, and I've been going to this restaurant the whole time. It's one of my all-time favorites. I gauge the likeability of new coworkers and friends by taking them to Mongolian BBQ. If they don't like it, I like them a little less (lol jk). Ever since covid, they removed a lot of the desserts. I mostly only liked the coconut macaroon things and the chocolate pudding. The other desserts were always too dry and not very sweet. Oh, you should always get 2 bowls when you're up at the buffet line. One for your vegetables, noodles, and sauces (use a scoop of every sauce is also recommended) and one bowl for your meats, otherwise, your meat falls off the pile of vegetables/ noodles. It's all you can eat, so some might argue that you don't need to load that much into 2 bowls, but I only need to go up once (unless I get a dessert). The sesame bread is the best. I could eat only those if I had to. It tastes so delicious dipped into one of the soups you can choose from (egg drop soup and hot & sour soup). I highly recommend this place (obviously). I also see people getting their order in carry out containers, so I guess that's a nice option if you're unable to stay, but I could never do that. It would ruin the experience. Also, I suppose there are vegetarian options, if you don't mind your food being cooked where meat was cooked. Sorry vegans, look somewhere else...
