PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! If I could give zero stars or even negative stars I would do that.
I don't even know where to start. I reserved this room on 7/19/17 to stay on the night of 8/19 and 8/20. When I got to the motel, I found out that they gave away my room. They told me "its really first come first serve". I told her that was NOT what a reservation was, and that the email confirmation I received specifically states that they have a Reservation Guarantee that they will hold the room until 7am the morning after you were scheduled to arrive. I was checking in at 11pm ( after driving almost four hours to get there). While I was doing this check-in process, the two employees at the front were also trying to count their register which was off, and they spent more time trying to figure this out than help me. I was standing there for about 20 minutes while they were trying to count waiting to find out if they were even going to have a room for me to stay there. Finally they finished their very important task so that they could respond to the customer in front of them. The only room they had left was a king sized bed which my family of four would have to try and fit into. I decided I had no choice but to take this but I told them I would be speaking to their manager about the charges for that night. When I walked into the room, it was disgusting, the AC unit was pulled from the wal,l and it was at least 80 degrees in there. When I went back to the lobby to tell them this, they acted surprised although I later heard an employee talk to someone on her cellphone and mention that they had given us the room that someone had asked to be moved from earlier that day due to the same AC issue. She told me that we couldn't stay there if their was no AC and that we had to leave. She told me the manager would refund me.
Two days later I received another CHARGE from the motel. I called back and she told me that she had refunded it. After further conversation and two emails showing me what they had done - it appears that while they issued a refund, they then ALSO charged me a second time which she assured me was something "the bank did to make sure there was money available on the card in order to issue a refund, because sometimes cards are stolen and when we try to refund the card is no longer in service". Umm, I've worked at a bank for many years, that is not what happens and she is just making stuff up. Regardless, she told me that this second authorization would just drop off in 3-5 business days. I don't have much confidence that this matter will be resolved within that time frame.
Like I said, do NOT stay here, save yourself the hassle and probably...
Read moreIt was a little confusing to be booked into what I thought was "Extended Stay America" and then find "Suburban" something. Wasn't at all clear where I was. But they were nice enough. Then it got interesting when they gave me my key, I went to the room and when I opened the door there was some guy in there in bed watching TV. Could have been iffy. And in order to get back to the front desk and get a different room I had to walk around the entire perimeter of the building, carrying all my stuff. Twice.||||They gave me another room, even closer to the highway than the first (noise suppression is a big thing for me), however the room was quiet enough when sleep-time came. Room was reasonably clean and not too smelly (mostly cleaning chemicals but not overwhelming).||||One of the stove elements didn't work -- it was most efficient to fix it myself, which I did. The fridge definitely worked very well, and I appreciate that. The radio wasn't set at all, had to set the time on it and then when I went to set the alarm, that also didn't work, so there was no point. This particular date I wanted to watch a baseball game, located it on the channel listing and the channel said "no signal". Found another alternative (HBO) and there was nothing there either, so TV was useless. ||||One of the plates I pulled out still had food residue on it so I had to wash that so as not to get blamed even though I wasn't going to use it. Other than that, had sufficient silverware and dishes. I bring my own cooking pots, knowing to do so from past experiences.||||They supply a coffeemaker, but it has no pod tray. Turns out you have to BUY them. Also they do provide dishwashing soap but no paper towels to clean up. Gotta bring your own, live and learn. And be sure to bolt your door shut in case they book the same room twice.||||Overall it was OK if you have the patience to cope. Traffic noise was well-insulated, so I did get to sleep, and that's...
Read moreThis hotel is a disgrace to the Choice Hotel brand. I was unable to stay at this hotel at all, due to an allergy to roaches (roaches were crawling around in the toilet bowl), a 2nd floor laundry room without disability access, and the inability to feel I was paying for a safe room w/out unauthorized access of others. A staff member did feel bad enough about my experience to personally drive me back to my original hotel in SC to save me another cab fare. However, the manager charged me for a 95 extended day reservation, despite my explanation that I was unable to stay due to health reasons and a complaint to Choice Hotels. I have asthma, multiple allergies (including to roaches), chronic pain, and post trauma stress. The Suburban Extended Stay website guarantees a clean and safe place to stay. It is inexcusable to charge any human being for days he/she could not stay in this hotel, due to not meeting the standards promised. It is beyond cruel to charge a homeless woman with multiple chronic health conditions. I can no longer afford to pay twice the price to stay in a hotel without roaches and no stairs required to do laundry. This experience at the Suburban Hotel has ruined my willingness to go anywhere in the country to try other budget hotels in an effort to sleep inside. I will be headed back outside. There is a lack of healthy, affordable housing in our country for very low-income folks. The inequity clearly extends to the lowest priced...
