Want a unique travel experience while taking a step back in time? This beautiful Victorian hotel is just the place. The home has been beautifully remodeled in simple elegance giving you a glimpse into its 100+ year history while offering its visitors lots of modern-day luxuries.
From the moment you set eyes on the unmistakable Victorian architecture it's clear you're in a unique space. Stepping through the gate into the courtyard, the front porch invited me for a sit, but I was eager to get inside to my room. Once I entered through the key code locked front door, you're greeted with 2 inviting sitting areas with stained glass windows, beautiful trim work and ornate wood workings found throughout the home.
It was at this moment, I realized I had found a real treasure here in North Little Rock. Beyond the sitting areas I caught a glimpse of a generous kitchen available to all visitors. But from the moment I had entered the home, my eyes were fixed on the beautiful wooden staircase that elevated between the sitting areas that was set to carry me to my room for the night.
As I climbed the stairs to the first floor, I caught myself imagining the time period. What was it like to live in this house? Who were the people that lived here? What did they do for work? How did this area look then, compared to now? Visions of women in in V-shaped dresses with sleeves that were wider from the elbow to the wrist flooded my mind. I felt like one of these women might pop out at any time to greet me.
As I made the first-floor landing, I was set to stay in the Main Street View Room for the night. As I opened the door I was greeted with a sweeping view of the surrounding area and an elegantly remodeled, spacious bathroom with a huge walk-in shower with tube inside! All of this was designed around modern tile work and bathroom fixtures.
The bed, a King, swallowed me whole as I fell into it relaxing for a moment from a long day. As I took in my surroundings, I found many comforts of home. Near the bed I found a small stainless steel and glass mini fridge, a slim line wall mounted flat screen TV and several heating a cooling options, some from the period and others more modern.
Scanning further, I began to find the small luxuries left for the visitors. Things like oversized terry cloth bath towels, makeup removal options for the ladies and 2 plush bath robes hanging near the closet. I slowly settled in admiring the room for its time period craftsmanship and modern amenities. As I slowly faded away into the night, the hustle and bustle of the nearby night life slowly faded into a full night’s sleep and soon I was greeted with the dim light of morning.
One of the things I really loved about the experience was the sense you've stepped back in time. From the occasional creek of a wooden floorboard to the hand-crafted door handles and small details of the era, I couldn't help but think of a time long forgotten where attention to detail and hand crafted homes were the norm.
One unique aspect of this stay I like really enjoyed was the self-check-in the hotel offers. Without the front desk experience that always seems to slow the process of getting to your room, this felt like I was coming home for the evening. A "no-hassle experience" as I simply opened the front door and headed in for the night.
My only regret for the evening was the weather. The rain had set in hard by the time I arrived for my stay. I chose to stay in for the night, not taking in the many food and night life options available literally just steps away from The Baker's front door. When you hear the phrase "Location, Location, Location", the Baker has got it! Convenience meets Luxury at 501 Main St. in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Do yourself the favor if you're traveling through, here for business, or perhaps do it for someone you love staying in the area and book a night. The Baker is a true treasure of history, elegance, style and convenience, at a scale and value...

Owners Nathan and Stacy Hamilton go out of their way to make guests feel "at home." Whether you're a local looking for a relaxing "staycation" or an out-of-towner looking to explore some of the Natural State's hidden gems, you'll enjoy your time at this quaint, newly restored, historic home.
The Baker is the perfect combination of old and new, blending Victorian architectural charm with light and airy decor; clawfoot tubs with soft, embroidered bath robes; cozy fireplaces with wifi and flat screens. Common areas on the main floor encourage shared meals (and wine), conversations, and laughter that often spill out onto the front porch and lawn during warmer months.
Location-wise, this is a great spot. If you're an outdoor enthusiast or into cycling, you're close to a variety of trails close to downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock. Catch a baseball game at Dickey Stevens Ballpark (only a few blocks away) during warmer months. Going to a concert at Simmons Bank Arena or catching a Broadway production at Robinson? Stay at the Baker! There are also loads of great restaurants that are within walking distance: Capeo (the perfect date spot), Mugs Cafe (amazong coffee and all-day breakfast menu), Skinny J's (reliable bar food), and much more!
Quiet hours are respected though, keep in mind, it's an old house, so creaks and footfalls on the stairs are normal and indeed, expected. The owners are in the process of sealing off some unused doors and transoms to enhance privacy and quietude. Beds and pillows are utterly heavenly--soft and ultra comfortable. Find locally sourced snacks, coffee maker (with pods, creamer, and sweetener), and mini fridge stocked with beer, water, and an assortment of soft drinks in your room. There is also a full-size fridge located in the kitchen on the main floor that you may use to store larger items.
Outside of a lovely stay, The Baker is ideal for events of all kinds--birthday dinner parties, bridal showers, cozy reception parties and dinners, holiday soirees, and let's not forget intimate wedding ceremonies! It offers plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces (think garden party style, complete with twinkle lights)...
A native of Arkansas, I enjoyed taking advantage of a place that allowed me to "get away," right in my own backyard! While this charming spot offers a ton of special little details and amenities, I should also point out that it's SUPER affordable. An all-around great find and (as you can tell), I can't say enough...
Read moreWe found The Baker by chance as we were frantically looking for a hotel close to the Children's Hospital. We waited way too long to book a hotel and by some miracle we found The Baker. We are from Oklahoma and not familiar with the Little Rock area. We are beginning a journey with our son that will require a lot of visits to Arkansas so we've been trying to find a place we can stay at consistently. When we found out we needed to add an extra night (more appointments were added) we kept our fingers crossed that we would be able to. My husband called and was able to talk to the owner, without issue we were able to book another night and were so relieved. Now that's just leading up to actually getting to The Cottage. Staying there was literally like being home. Traveling with a toddler is hard and tiny hotel rooms add to the difficulty, but the cottage was so relaxing. We practically ran inside because we were so excited so I didn't get a chance to take pictures of our gorgeous welcome. My husband and I are huge craft beer fans and being greeted with local craft beer in the fridge after a long drive was heaven. I'm 7 months pregnant so I just had to take my husband's word for how good the beer was haha But when baby is finally here and we visit again, that blueberry beer from FlyWay is all mine! They had a pack and play set up for us AND a sound machine for our little guy. Seriously so thoughtful. Also, the restaurants they recommended to us were amazing. We ate at Mugs twice in one day and practically cried over the delicious pasta and desert at Ristorante Capeo 😍 The Baker is now the only place we will be staying as long as it is available during our future trips to Arkansas.
