Love the food and service. Itâs dog-friendly but may be a little loud for sensitive dogs. The title gives you a hint of what awaits you inside: a bit of French Quarter, a bit of music and a bit of old speak-easy. Walking in through what is likely an original door, the atmosphere is both old, circa 1920-30âs, with a touch of modern or retro. Itâs dark and you should probably wait a bit for your eyes to adjust before walking past the stage to find a seat. They have live music although we havenât been there when this happens. The wall decorations are a mix of retro scenes from Argenta, and portraits of famous musicians and people. (Theyâre like the patron saints of the Four Quarter Bar.) Scattered on the walls are old furnishings, i.e. small crystal chandeliers, light catching mobiles hang near the front wall which is all large windows, drapes, and over the bar are a variety of items like an Irish harp (may be a Guinness drink decoration), stuffed animal or two that gives the impression of age and a treasure chest. This collection of items also has an air of careful intention, like keepsakes from a family who gathered mementoes of good times, good food and good company. Contrasting that is a touch of the modern, a wall-mounted large screen TV which plays at a high volume, making it a bit difficult to carry on conversations with people, even those sitting at your table.
The food is rich and satisfying; there are outstanding burgers including a veggie (southwest) and unique dishes with Spam. They have an extensive and changing beer menu and if you have questions about a beer, the bartender happily answers and can make recommendations. They also serve mixed drinks (whatever you can think of) which, imo, places Four Quarter Bar in another category of restaurants. So many restaurants serve just beer or wine now which is probably easier on the waitstaff. The bartenders at Four Quarter are knowledgeable and friendly; they also are waitstaff. There are ALWAYS people sitting at the bar, conversing with each other and the bartenders. Iâm unsure if there are âregularâ customers but going by snatches of conversations and overall joviality there probably are. It all adds up to an atmosphere of relaxation, enjoyment and cheerfulness.
We experienced only two occasional unpleasantries: there seems to be a sense of abandon if you sit outside in the umbrellaed tables, i.e. loud and obnoxious drunks tend to be quite loud and physically active, moving from their table, up and down the sidewalk, swinging around the street lamp bases. Being right next to the street (literally) such behavior is concerning, alarming even and distracting. I have yet to experience such similar behavior at other dine-outside restaurants in the area. (I suppose another way to look at that kind of behavior in the context of the Four Quarter is itâs an adventure, you may enjoy the food and atmosphere but consider thereâs an element of the unknown, the unexpected.) The only other unpleasant experience is occasionally people smoke inside, cigars mostly, and there may be a smoking section that Iâm unaware of. If youâre sensitive to cigar/cigarette smoke be prepared to take appropriate action to shield yourself or leave.
But overall I highly recommend checking out the many unique offerings at the Four Quarter Bar, itâs one of our favorite places and may become one of yourâs. It takes all kinds of people to make the world, and that sense of acceptance, a non-judgmental atmosphere is at the heart of the Four Quarter. This is mirrored by the diverse and unique menu, the range of beers, the expertise of the bartenders and the talent of the chefs. Good food, good beer, good peeps....
Read moreI rarely take the time to write reviews, but my recent experience at Four Corners Bar in North Little Rock demands to be shared. What I witnessed was not just disappointing, it was absolutely unacceptable in this day and age.
A bartender employed here openly used racist and highly inappropriate language toward my friend â not once, but multiple times throughout the evening. I personally heard the remarks, and they were offensive, degrading, and completely unprofessional. There is no excuse for this type of behavior, especially in a business that serves the public and should be a place where everyone feels welcome.
The comments werenât slips of the tongue or misunderstandings; they were pointed, deliberate, and repeated. The lack of basic respect shown left us shocked and deeply uncomfortable. No patron should have to endure being disrespected or dehumanized by the very staff meant to serve them.
Bars and restaurants are built on community, hospitality, and trust. Racist language and discriminatory attitudes destroy that foundation. If management at Four Corners Bar truly values its patrons and its reputation, this type of behavior cannot be ignored. Staff must be held accountable, trained properly, and reminded that this is not 1950 â this is 2025, and society has long since rejected such toxic behavior.
Until this issue is addressed, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone who values respect, inclusivity, and basic human decency. There are too many other bars in the area where customers can enjoy themselves without fear of being demeaned.
I sincerely hope Four Corners Bar takes this as a wake-up call and chooses to make changes, because no one should ever walk out of a neighborhood bar feeling...
Read morePat at the Four Quarter Bar is AMAZING.
So my husband and I went there for drinks this afternoon. We like their atmosphere and drinks and prices and go there every other week or so. We love that we can get a drink and go sit outside in the front or back.
Well today was a little different. I went to the bathroom and came outside and my husband was chatting with someone that needed to use his phone.
I wonât get into the specifics. The guy seemed super sweet. But he approached my husband talking about how beautiful I was in the first place. And the conversation continued in a way that made us both feel uneasy. But my husband had to leave early to go to a tennis match and that left me there alone. I wasnât done with my food or drink yet.
I felt fine, the guy was seemingly harmless and hey as a female we are used to this (sadly). But peace of mind for my husband not so much.
But the bartender Pat? OMG.
He took care of me. Not just in service while ordering (that was already impeccable) but when I told him that my husband was nervous leaving me there he TOOK CARE OF ME.
Iâm not kidding. Pat waited for me. Continuing to check on me the rest of the time. Then finished his shift and then walked me to my car. Making sure the entire time that I was safe. Walked me all the way to my car without hesitation. WALKED ME TO MY CAR.
As a female in this world where you never know what youâre going to get, those actions went further than words can ever explain!
So hereâs to Pat! You (and Four Quarter Bar) now have two loyal customers who will forever proclaim how wonderful you are and you officially have two regulars on your hand too!
THANK YOU from the bottom of...
