Great Experience here at Aulani! We stayed for 4 nights and loved our large suite rooms. The lazy river pool and the beach access is a lot of fun! Their slides are also awesome! The tube one is super fast! Worth the lines! You can also paddle board which is fun!
I love the character breakfast and that you can get pictures all over by professionals, with or without Disney characters in costume. All the workers you come across and the hotel staff are very polite and friendly. Costumer service is still Disney's specialty!
The price for food is really high. We found the ULU Cafe to be reasonable with their pizza deals. We also LOVE the Papalua Shaved Ice hut. Best Shaved Ice I've ever had! Went back for seconds! If you want to save some money, and your hotel room comes with a kitchen or even kitchenette, there's a grocery store right across the street from the resort, as well as other restaurant options that are cheaper. It's a little bit of walk, but worth it for saving money!
For traveling with kids, we loved Aunty's Beach House! It's basically a glorified babysitting service so you can drop the kids off while the adults can go off on their own. You can sign them up for activities (some are free, others do cost, but not much). It's first come first serve so best to reserve before your trip or first thing when they open in the morning. Even without the activities, they have plenty of fun things to do: movies, games, craft stations, outdoor playground, etc. So nice for me and my husband to take a break and have a moment for ourselves!
They have lots of activities for the whole family, and they give you a list of events for each day. You also know exactly where every character will be for photo ops. It changes each day, but you have a number you can call and it gives you the info. We did a tour of the hotel, scavenger hunt, ukulele lessons, and the kids have their own activities at Aunty's like I mentioned above.
There's only two shops for merchandise. One is more of a shack with quick grab-n-go stuff and swim equipment. The main one in the lobby is much bigger, but not by much. I thought for a Disney resort they'd have more to offer. We couldn't even find matching shirts for our family of 3, which made me sad. Oh well, I guess I saved money by not buying more souvenirs.
Other then the things listed, there's not much else to do here. I wouldn't spend longer then 2, maybe 3 nights here. We spent 4 full days and I felt it was too long. We were doing the same things every day and it got a bit boring and repetitive. But its still a great place to visit if you need a place to stay during your...
Read moreAs a DVC member this is one of my home locations. Have always loved it here but definitely seeing a change and not for the better. Things are starting to get tired and dated. It appears that they're cutting back on maintenance staff as you will see in the pictures included. Simple things like bell people meeting you to take your luggage when you get here. No longer happen. Not because there's not enough of them. There were five standing around who didn't bother to ask us a thing when we showed up. Computer systems being down making getting food a very long process. They've gotten rid of the buffet which takes away one of the options that was slightly different than their other affair. Prices have increased. What seems to be dramatically. While services in amenities are decreasing. Definitely this trip. The biggest thing bothering me is the cleanliness. Things just seem to be dirty and not being kept up. Worn out, tired and in some cases just nasty. It is unfortunate. It's always been bother. Some of that. Some of the unique features that they put in at the start that have fallen into disrepair have never been put back into a working state. If you're a DVC member, you'll understand what it means when somebody tells you welcome home. Wristband on not one cast member has said that to me. Not even getting towels. What a shame. Spa reservations made for my family in two of our guests were randomly broke up so one of our guests will be in the spot in the morning and we will not be able to join them until 1 hour before our appointment which will be 3 hours after they've been in the spa. Things like that that will just take what should be a beautiful trip and make it just not quite what you hoped for. still won't go wrong. Being in Hawaii. The island people are fantastic. The location is beautiful and all in all it's still makes for a nice getaway. One last thing, they need to reinstate to the adults only pool. I understand the logic behind it when we were in covid. However, now there is no spot for adults to relax and enjoy themselves without children and families. Screaming yelling splashing and carrying on. There's one adult only hot tub and it is generally full to the brim. This is a wonderful place to bring children. Lots for them to do. I don't think it's too much to ask for our adults only pool back. The countless amount of people I have heard talk about that you would think Disney would get a clue. Definitely...
Read moreThis resort was everything I wanted it to be.
A trip to Hawaii is expensive and you most certainly do not want to feel let down by the amount of money you spent versus the experience. This resort exceeded all my expectations and delivered a fantastic stay.
First and foremost, Disney knows how to provide stellar customer service. If at any point, I had a question all I needed to do was look around and there would be a staff member available to assist.
I considered staying in the Waikiki area but am so glad I chose not to. This hotel was in a quieter area giving the stay a luxury feel. The pools are phenomenal. Many different pools to choose from depending on the vibe you want and plenty of shaded areas if you want to avoid the sun. There are two water slides that provided endless fun for the family. The beach swimming area is a man made cove providing protection from the tide and giving a safer area for less skilled swimmers to play in the ocean. There were free life jackets provided at the place you receive your pool wrist bands giving extra assurance. No matter when we went to the pools we were always able to find open lounge chairs.
There is a snorkeling pool as well that you can pay to snorkel in. That also gives you access to use snorkel equipment at the beach cove. It was great experience for our younger party members who are not quite ready to snorkel in the open ocean.
We did not pay for any enhanced view from our balcony. It faced a parking garage. Even still it provided excellent views of a mountain and a glimpse of the ocean that we could enjoy in the mornings drinking coffee.
The valet were all very helpful in providing recommendations for breakfast and tips on sightseeing during our stay. There was not a single negative experience to be had.
I would absolutely stay here again.
Highlights: flower clips for our hair provided at check in along with stickers and pins. Cute branded food at the pool. Great pools. Gorgeous property. The...
