My family were guests here from Oct. 8th - 10th because we were supposed to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) on the 9th, which is right across from the hotel. My 5-year old still needs her nap so we needed something close for her while visiting PCC. Unfortunately, both of my daughters (16yo & 5yo) developed a high fever the night of the 8th. Naturally, as parents, my wife and I just wanted to take our daughters home. But we waited until 7am to call PCC the next day to try to reschedule our visit because we didn't want to lose all the money that we paid for the luau and the show for our family of 4. PCC understood and were actually very sympathetic so they rescheduled our tickets. I wish I can say the same about this hotel who ONLY cares about their profit. My wife and I walked over to the hotel reception on the morning of the 9th around 7am to tell them that we plan to do early check-out that day because our daughters were both running a high fever. While we understand the early check-out and cancellation policy, there should be another way to accommodate guests that are sick. It's not like people plan to be sick while they're on vacation. After telling the manager our situation, without even trying to listen to us, she told us that we would be charged for early check-out and that we couldn't transfer our credit for another night for next month when we try to visit PCC again. So we would lose our paid reservation and they want to charge us MORE money for needing to leave early and also charge us MORE money for cancelling the last remaining day of our reservation. I guess that's the loophole that Marriott found to rob their guests more money. Unbelievable! So they gave us no choice but to keep our reservation and keep our sick daughters in the room. I guess they would rather keep my family in the hotel and get the other guests sick, too. This hotel only cares about their bottom line. They have no consideration for their guests. On the day of our check-out on the 10th, we couldn't wait to get out of this place! We all got up at 3am that morning so that we could leave after 4am. We drove home that early. We just couldn't stay another minute in the room. If we checked out before 4am on the day of our check-out, they would have also charged us extra so we just killed time in the room until it was time to leave. By the way, my 5-year old tested positive for RSV when we took her to see her pediatrician on the 10th.... So my advise to you is, if you live on the island like we do, just drive home after visiting PCC. If you're a tourist wanting to go to PCC or check out the North Shore area, for the price that you have to pay for this hotel, just stay in Waikiki and just make the drive out there. The drive is not that bad. It's a small island. This is not even a great hotel. What a horrible business practice. We will go to PCC next month but we won't be coming back to this greedy, overpriced, and overrated...

We stayed here for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. This is a bit of a long review but the main question is, would I go back? Absolutely! The staff were great and we really loved it here. It had a great feel to it and they had activities planned for guests every day while we were there!
Getting there. It was about a 45 minute drive from the airport that started at about 5pm. It was an easy drive with a lot of great scenic views along the way.
Hotel Location - I found the location to be an ideal location for us and our itinerary (Haleiwa town - Matsumoto Shave Ice, the food trucks - Fumi’s,Giovannies and Romy’s, Dole Plantation, Kualoa Ranch, Byodo Temple Inn, Hukilau Market and the Polynesian Cultural Centre) Right off the highway you find yourself located a short walking distance across the front parking lot to get some food at the Hukilau Market at the Polynesian Cultural Centre or McDonald’s), Foodland for groceries and food counter (2 min drive north), a short drive to the North Sore Taco, CVS to get other supplies including beer just a 3-5 min drive south
The Bedroom - we stayed in one of the King Suites. This was a large room with lots of space. The main bedroom had plenty of space and storage for clothes and a very comfortable bed.. It also had a couple of chairs that we ultimately used to create a sitting area in the kitchen. the TV in the room was big and worked fine.
The Living room had plenty of space and was big. The foldout had a cushion mattress on top and there is a second cushion/mattress in the closet in the bedroom. Using both is a must for a comfortable mattress on the sofa bed. I slept on the sofa bed and was able to get a comfortable good nights sleep. The air conditioner is right beside the bed so if you are a person that does not like the cold, it is something to consider.
There was a kitchen area/living room area where we ate and hung out. There were plenty of seats and chairs to accommodate us having some friends over to the room for some dinner and some drinks. The fridge in this room (had a freezer too) was a really good size and much larger than the fridges in the regular rooms.
Amenities. The exercise room was on okay size. I did not use it but it did go in to take a look around.
The pool and hot tub were great. They had cabanas that you could rent. We did not rent them but I believe it was $20 for a couple of hours.
Laundry. They had laundry on site but given our visit was at the beginning of our trip we did not use the facilities. Anything you need for doing laundry can be bought at either Foodland or CVS.
Outdoor sitting area. There is a lot of room with lots of seats but very popular for gatherings.
Lobby. Very large and comfortable lobby area to gather and relax.
Bistro. I did not use the bistro aside from getting a coffee...
Read moreWe loved the location, however our arrival was very stressful and frustrating. When we got off the plane at 9:30pm, we saw an email from the hotel asking us to call. We called the hotel and they told us that they didn't have a room for us, and that we should go to Waikiki to find a hotel there. This made no sense to us since we booked the room about 3 months before our trip. They told us that the hotel was oversold and since we were checking in so late, they gave our room to someone else. This is the first time that we have been to a hotel that doesn't honor a reservation. This is the only hotel on the north shore of Oahu, so this news made us even more upset. There isn't another option to stay on the north shore, so we would have had to stay about an hour away in Waikiki. We chose this hotel because of its location. We didn't want to stay in Waikiki with thousands of people around. Benjamin, the Courtyard Marriott person who told us that we didn't have a room, said he will see if he can "find" us a room at the hotel, even though he originally said there wasn't anything available. He called us back after about 20 minutes and said that he can put us in a smaller room (a room with king size bed and set up an air mattress and pad). He did also say that we can move to the room type (2 queens and a sofa bed) that we reserved for the 2nd night and onward. We only needed to stay in this smaller room for the first night. We managed ok, but it was very disappointing and frustrating to be told that our room was given away. We mentioned in the reservation that we would be coming in late that night given our flight arrives around 9:30pm. Also, even if we hadn't mentioned it, the hotel has no right to give our reserved room to someone else. We know that the hotel would have charged us if we didn't show up, even though they didn't have a room for us since our reservation wasn't officially cancelled. A reservation means you reserve a room of a certain type, so you expect that room type to be available when you arrive. Benjamin assured us that we would get free parking for our entire stay and a discount for our stay. When we checked out, we did get free parking, but the person checking us out wasn't going to give us a discount. After insisting about the discount, she did give us $50 off of our first night since the room was much smaller and didn't have the right number of beds for our family of 5. This was another...
