I originally was booked for another hotel at the last minute, unfortunately after reading a lot of reviews, my other hotel choice did not seem very secure, safe, or clean. It scared me once I read reviews on other sites for a hotel in the area. At the last minute, literally during a flight delay, I had this bad feeling that I should switch to another hotel, so I began researching, I was panicked when everything in the area seemed SO unreasonably priced! A lot of other hotels are a bit pricy! Which there is not a good range of prices near Oakland for hotels. I believe I saw two of the cheapest ones, and on their sites, the reviews were decent, but when you googled closer, there was nothing but bad reviews on other sites, I guess in this area it really is "you get what you pay for". Anyways, running out of options, I researched as many hotels as I could, this hotel: Holiday Inn Express, seemed to be the only hotel within my budget range for the most part, and had spectacular reviews all over!! So I called them during my flight delay originally calling: Holiday Inn, although fully booked, the reservations lady told me about booking me with Holiday Inn Express, and I was more than glad that I was able to do so! I was very grateful for that opportunity as I cancelled with the first hotel I originally booked in the area that was not good. Holiday Inn Express is very clean, friendly, and great! The food was great, service is great, and it is just a safe and secure environment to stay! I was travelling on my own, and this was a very important thing for me to try to feel secure, as I was not comfortable for example with the other hotel originally booked (the ones that are not Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express) and they did a great job at arranging to my needs, and making me feel welcome! I did not feel like a burden if I asked for help, or had questions, the lady at the front desk was great and literally assisted me with anything and everything! Whether it had been in regards to questions with the hotel, or things in the area like uber, etc. As nervous as I was, this calmed me down, and it made me felt secure, so I thank your front desk for that and the friendly hotel staff as well! I had a great time staying here, it was cozy and comfortable, and I this hotel will always DEFINITELY be my go-to next time I am back in town! Thanks again for...
Read moreWe have been IHG Platinum Elite members for over 20+ years and us IHG properties exclusively. We stayed at this hotel due to the proximity to Oakland Airport and the park and fly option. The breakfast was limited in their offerings, compared to other IHG properties. We left our car in the covered parking when we went to the airport. They do charge a fee for the shuttle of $10, while every other IHG property has never charged us.
While we were gone, someone broke out our back window and grabbed a bag that had dirty clothes and other things in it. Our car doesn’t have a trunk so we couldn’t conceal it. We have an alarm on our vehicle but no one from the hotel called us at all. There was a small bag with some credit cards, 49ers apparel and an iPad tucked down in the bag they took. We started getting alerts from the card companies about suspected purchases. Still no call from the hotel. We finally called the hotel and asked if they would check on our car and they confirmed the back window was smashed out.
When we got back all the broken glass was still there! This had been 3 days later. We asked to see the camera footage, there are four cameras in the parking area, but they wouldn’t show us or even look at it. They said we needed to call Oakland PD and have them come out - they said they usually take their time, sometimes days. Of course we needed to get home so we opted not to do that. It was extremely frustrating that they weren’t more helpful. It makes you wonder.
Also, when we made our reservations online, parking was $15 a day. It increased to $20 in January and they wouldn’t honor the lower price. We are going to ask for a complete refund now.
On the Way app, it states it’s safe with cameras. Evidently, no one looks at them. It’s not a safe place for your car! Our suggestion is to go to the parking options on Way. We did that in the past without issues, plus it’s a lot cheaper. We also asked for the price match that is offered on the Way app, but they said that offer is through an independent company and they don’t do that.
We won’t...
Read moreMy wife and I attended a Raider's game and decided to try this hotel. The hotel was right off the freeway near the airport. We were able to check-in immediately. I called in advance to ask about shuttle service to the game. The person on the other end of the phone was not very customer service oriented. Needless to say I had low expectations of the staff, but once we arrived the staff greeted us well and did a competent job.
The shuttle service was free to the game. We tipped the driver and he was very quick with picking us up after the game as well. We got a room near the elevator, which we expected to make for a noisy, sleepless night but just the opposite. We rarely heard elevator traffic, and the hotel was full of Raider and Bears fans.
The beds were really what I remember the most. The pillows, mattress and comforter was unbelievable. I would stay there again just to sleep in the beds. We didn't even want to go downstairs for the complimentary breakfast because the bed slept so well. I wish I could have dragged it home with me.
The breakfast was decent. Something to get your day started but no frills. Overall, my total experience was good and I would recommend this location to others, especially if going to a game at O.Com Stadium. I stayed at another hotel in that area late last year when we attended another game and had to pay for the shuttle to the game, parking at the hotel, didn't get a free hot breakfast and the cost was more. I am sold on Holiday Inn Express-Oakland Airport.
As for regrets, they do not have a pool. Only a small indoor Jacuzzi on the first floor just across from...
