London Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Oakland

To my surprise, this hotel restaurant was open during COVID-19. Granted this review is dated April 2021 which is a couple of months after the city had started its mass vaccination effort.

For my experience, I tried the Angus Burger cooked well done. The patty was thick, juicy and very well seasoned, but the waffle cut sweet potatoes fries were over cooked and too crispy.

Price was fair. Portion size was as well.

This on-site pub is a good option if you want some decent food and don’t want to be bothered with going out.

Note, all sandwiches and burgers come with a choice of French Fries, Onion Rings, Waffle Cut Sweet Potato Fries, Side Salad or Fresh Mixed Fruit.

If I could put less than 1 star for service I would. I have never been to a restaurant where you order to go from a rude waiter who commandeers their tip after deciding the amount. Given on the front and the back of the menu this entity clearly stated they’ll charge a 21% gratuity. I was not even a party of one as I waited outside I was offended when the server handed me 10$ of my 20$ change without saying a word and then forgot half of my order. Making me return. I thought tips were for good service. I guess it’s true what they say about Oakland you’re liable to get punked and robbed anywhere out here even in the lobby of the Spring Hill Suites. We were on our way to another restaurant when we saw the sign for this one and decided to take a chance. We are glad we did. They have a nice selection of beer on draft, the Patriots preseason game was on the TV, and the bartenders were really friendly. We both got the lamb dinner which was very tasty. The lamb chops were cooked as requested, the potatoes were savory, and the seasonal vegetables were cooked just right. Will definitely come here again if we find ourselves staying over at the airport...
