This place was the worst mistake i’ve ever made. We’ve been going to Ocean City since I can remember but always stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Salisbury.
I booked ahead of time for the Memorial Day weekend - and thought the price was reasonable. I’ll begin with the pros:
1.Good location - see the beach and walk right to the beach, but on 65th street, not on the boardwalks (streets 1-27). Not a major deal breaker since theres a bus stop right in front of the hotel
Ample parking
Lots of nearby restaurants/stores/onsite restaurant
Great pool area/pool bar
Hotel lobby newly updated and clean
Lobby bathrooms very clean
Staff was beyond amazing - especially Emily and one other lady who worked overnight on Sunday night.
Cons:
Photos on the website are not the same. Photos on the websits show upgraded rooms but the room we got was not upgraded
No breakfast
Far from the boardwalk area
The room carpet was sooo dirty! I had to wash my feet several times before getting into bed
The bathroom was so dirty and had long blonde/brown hair strands all over the tub/shower. I have a tiny afro, husband is bald. It was so icky showering here.
When we turned on the AC water kept dripping on the floor. We initially asked someone to come and take care of this and they did but it kept dripping. The next day we were moved to another room due to this issue. We did not ask to change rooms but we were happy they moved us. However that 2nd room was also leaking water from the AC!
Due to the air quality my whole family got sick. We had a cold, congestion, fever etc. My husband and I came with our 5 month old. We were so weak and could barely enjoy the beach - only went out on day 1 since we werent feeling well.
We received a special offer to either leave late or stay an extra night - we stayed an extra night and ended up leaving the next day at 3am because we were getting sicker and just in a rush to get out of the dirty rooms.
Overall - this was a horrible experience. I ended up with a fever, and passed the cold to my baby. Now he is battling with a cold and ear infection. Its been a terrible experience.
I WILL never recommend this hotel to anyone else! Theres a few other holiday inns in the area and hope they are better!
This holiday inn needs to be demolished, and rebuilt with better quality materials. The walls need to be repainted, carpets need to be stripped and burned. Beds need to be updated - we both had back pain while sleeping there! We stayed from saturday to monday - imagine how bad our backs were. I realllyyyyy hated this hotel so much. I feel so bad for bringing my baby there. Baby has traveled alot - and had never been sick!! I’m so disappointed. Holiday Inn (IHG Hotels & Resorts in general) is a huge name brand that should be able to take better care of its hotels. Demolishing that building and closing the business for 1-2 years will yield better profits and better customer service than what they are doing now.
Almost 2 weeks later, my family and i are still battling this sickness caused by the terrible air quality and poor building conditions of Holiday Inn.
I have stayed at other holiday Inn hotels when traveling due the quality, value, and free breakfast! This holiday inn should not be serving...

Read moreI have mixed feelings about this hotel. For $400 a night ocean view in peak summer, it is too much money for this hotel’s level of rating for the room condition and decor. At that price tag, it should have more updated and luxurious fittings for the rooms. The rooms were small, the bathroom was cramped, and there was certainly wear and tear that you would not normally see at a hotel at this rate. Some example include a loosened safety latch, chips and dents on the furniture and a cramped bathroom with an undersized tub. The common areas showed west and tear on walls and floorboards. The room was temperature controlled which did not appeal to us. We like to be below 65 degrees. The price range competes with getting a condo/rental for the week where you would have the flexibility of multiple rooms and bathrooms and more accommodating temp control and private laundry. So price is a con -get the condo. |The pool is a big draw in photos/website, but it is overcrowded on most days. You can catch a break early 8 am and late before 8 pm and on rainy/ cloudy days. Parents: No pool lifeguards, so no down time. There is good vibes live music by the pool on weekends- a highlight. The swimup pool bar was another highlight. I recommend the Orange Creamsicle drink. The fire pits were a nice touch but OVERLY warm most nights -you had to move away. There is also an indoor pool which was a highlight for the teens and deemed nice. The best pro for this property was proximity to the beach. It is beach adjacent- about 50 steps from our centrally located room. BYO stuff though bc there are no freebies on beach stuff like umbrellas/chairs. And another con: parking in their lot is NOT included in the exorbitant room rate! But self serve laundry is …there are four washers and two dryers available on floor 3. |Check in is kind of a cluster bc the lobby is too small to turn over 100 rooms. I would recommend taking your family to the beach and having one person come back to check in for a better experience. You can grab the bags later after the rush. |I enjoyed the adjacent food venues. A touch of Italy is available in the lobby for great, tasty Italian meals and a decent wine selection. Four stars. We liked it so much we went back again for our last night. Also the snack shack by the pool had amazing fries. |So yes a mixed review. Would I stay again? It’s a maybe for me. For that price, I would explore some condo options.||I would like to give a shout out to the team at the hotel which was a pro for this venue. Someone is doing something right there. All personnel were engaging and helpful. They even notified us of an item left behind that had more sentimental worth than it’s amount of gold -basically priceless to us. Thank you...
