Stayed at the hotel and ate at Taste of Italy on a rainy evening. Hostess seemed dead inside when we greeted her at the hostess stand and we were left us confused as we stood up front for 10 minutes watching while she had 4 employees ridiculously set up our table for our party of 4. We tried their signature drink, the black walnut Manhattan... Save your money and get something else, not delicious. The kids had the Chicken Alfredo; it was good. Husband had the soprasada pizza; does not have cheese all the way on the pizza, just dollops of cheese... Also gave him heartburn which he never gets so something in the tomato sauce... Just an FYI to look out for. I had the salmon; This was cooked perfectly...it came with a side of asparagus that was drowning in boiling oil underneath it. There were also three pieces of potato wedges... I did not eat those due to dietary restrictions. We each ordered a glass of wine, one red one white... Nothing to write home about on either. We ended our meal with the Italian rum cake which boasted that it was soaked in rum... This is a lie. It is a yellow cake drenched in slivered almonds on the outside. There is a little bit of cream flavoring on the inside two different layered flavors I think one chocolate and one vanilla or something. It was hard to tell through all of the slivered almonds on the outside. But there definitely was no rum in that cake. We also had espresso which was good. I do have a complaint that has to do with seating arrangements of small children in an establishment such as this. The restaurant was not full by any means, and for the restaurant to put very small children in the very back corner to where the waitress wasn't even able to move around the tables comfortably to serve the dishes, and then to stick small children in the very back (technically the front next to the pizza oven) to not be able to get out when they started to cry was a huge issue. The children were disruptive in a very quiet, low lit restaurant which made it very uncomfortable for everyone sitting around them. You could see the looks on everyone's faces, and I have children and I understand that it is not always the parents fault, but when you're unable to literally get out of the seats to remove the children from the environment, that is the problem of the restaurant for sticking them way back there. It was an unfortunate situation that everyone had to sit through. Maybe consider this the next time that small children come in and put them in a more convenient location that the parents can get up with them and take them outside when they start...
Read moreWe unfortunately had a bad experience here and it was my husband's birthday dinner too. Everything started out fine, we got our appetizer, the meatballs, which were fantastic but then everything went downhill. Our food took so long that 2 tables who sat down after us got their food and left the restaurant before our server even seemed to notice we hadn't gotten our food yet, which were not difficult orders-Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. I worked many years in food service and try to be very understanding in these kinds of situations but the server and supposed manager did not handle their mistakes well at all. The server did not check on us despite our obvious annoyed body language and she did not apologize until the very end when we were leaving the restaurant with our food in to-go bags because we had been sitting for an hour and a half and just wanted to go home. The manager gave us free dessert but didn't actually apologize for the extremely long wait and lack of attention. She implied that our bill was going to be taken care of but we were still handed a bill for the full amount of the meal which should have at least been partially taken care of if the restaurant wanted to make the situation right. Then when were were trying to pay the bill we should never have had to pay for we ended up waiting another 10 minutes for someone to take the check as the manager just disappeared and our server didn't seem interested in helping us anymore. I've never left a bad tip in my life because I know what its like to live on tips but this time I did because the server did not even try to fix the situation and the manager didn't seem too bothered by it either. The food was the only redeeming thing as it was very good despite being kind of cold by the time we arrived home. It was a very disappointing experience especially since it was my husband's birthday dinner. I'm giving the restaurant 2 stars because the food was very good but due to the bad service i'm not sure...
Read moreHello everyone I recently visited the touch of Italy restaurant on the boardwalk there are steps there and A podium were there is supposed to be someone to greet you and take your order or or seat you outside well it turns out I'm handicap and my girlfriend is as well and we are in scooters first there is no handicap accessible seating even outside we wanted to eat there but instead had to get takeout. We sat there for 20 minutes no one from staff despite seeing us waiting there did not even acknowledge us. Finally someone walked up the steps and got someone's attention to wait on us my money spends as well as others even though I'm handicap. So the manager finally comes out after I requested it the manager explains to me that the kitchen caught fire on the day they were re opening from the pandemic then the manager explained that she was also short handed as well which everyone on the boardwalk wasas well because from what I'm told foreign exchange students from the local college make up most of not all the workforce. The manager takes our order to go because the place is accessable to handicap. Then the manager gave us two soft drinks for free then tells me that she was going to take something off the bull and did not then it took almost 40 minutes just to get take out as well and then I paid the bill and then was told to also comeback the next morning or so for free breakfast I didn't pay for the soft drinks and no discount on my check so we decide two days later to go get our free breakfast and again no one at the podium to acknowledge us we waited ten minutes try to call no one picked up the phone. No free breakfast either the only thing good about this was the food was good but the service and confusion to me in excusable and to lie to me was another thing and no handicap accessible seating made me want to call Maryland authority for disability or the American for disability people and the better business bureau as well thank you...
