Amazing Breakfast! Stopped in on the morning of July 4th with my family for breakfast and what a great surprise! This was the 1st time we stopped in since they opened last year and we had heard good things.
The staff were very friendly and personable and greeted us all with a big hello. My kids (11 and 8) requested a booth in the corner and our hostess was more than willing to accommodate.
Our server arrived quickly and we received water and coffee for the table just as quick! She was very attentive, always had a smile and checked on us often enough to make sure we had everything we needed.
One of the best parts about the staff was that our water and coffee were constantly refilled without us asking! The servers were walking around to all the guests tables with coffee and water and refilling mugs and glasses. A very nice touch that is often times missing in restaurants these days.
My wife and I ordered the Hash Bowl and the kids had chocolate chip pancakes, the orders came out quick and hot and were spot on. I highly recommend the Hash Bowl, very hearty with shredded hash browns, fresh spinach, cheddar cheese, bacon and 2 eggs of your choosing. Very hearty meal and a great portion size for a great price! And the fresh spinach was a nice touch!
Kiddos pancakes were loaded with chocolate chips too! Another win!
Also, there is a full bar! So yes, you can have morning Bloody Mary's, Crushes, Bailey's and Coffee, or mimosa's if you choose to have an adult beverage with breakfast!
I'm looking forward to stopping back into this hidden gem to try some of their other menu items. I had noticed a smash burger taco that looked awesome and the table next to us got what looked like crabcake benedict with a couple good sized crabcakes on top!
If you're in OCMD, definitely stop in and give them a try! I'm sure you'll get the same friendly experience and a great meal. My family and I are here most of the summer and definitely plan...
Read moreWe were the only ones in the restaurant which should have been a red flag from the beginning but being from out of town and off season we decided to try in anyway. First let me start out by telling you what we ordered. I ordered French onion soup a side salad and Salisbury steak ( which I was told was their recipe) because the two choices I wanted first they didn’t have. My husband ordered the deal of a pizza with 6 wings for $15.99 which is reasonable. So let me begin by saying when they brought me the soup it was ice cold then they heated it up and I burnt myself on the crock. But before that they brought my husband his pizza. A few minutes later my cold soup. Then they brought his wings a few minutes after that. Then I finally got my salad about 5 minutes after that and immediately followed by my dinner. Who brings out one food item at a time? 2 people in the restaurant and took all that time to get our items one at a time? The pizza we were told was homemade dough it tasted just like freezer pizza from the supermarket and not the good kind. After they heated up the soup and I finally got to taste it, it was tasteless and disgusting. The Salisbury steak tasted like a hunk of ground meat just thrown on a plate. No flavor at all. And you don’t get to choose any sides you want it only came with potatoes that had skin which I don’t like and string beans that left a weird taste in my mouth. For a diner this is unusual you usually get to pick your sides but here they only had potatoes and string beans no matter what you ordered. And this wasn’t a paper specials menu this is their permanent menu. Then when we got the bill it was $20 more than it should have been good thing we looked before just paying the bill. I would not recommend going here at all. There is however an amazing buffet next door or a Denny’s...
Read moreNot sure why The Dough Roller closed this location, but that doesn't really matter anyway, they have enough of those in OC. My party and I really wanted to love this new "diner". The only remodeling that appeared to be done on the inside was the removal of all the previous decorations and the carousel horse, and the carpet was replaced with wood-like flooring (smart move for easy cleaning). But the restaurant has the same dirty walls, same dirty old furniture, filthy bathrooms, and award stickers won by The Dough Roller still on the front doors. All that aside, the Staff and our Server were fantastic - very friendly and courteous. The food came out quickly, but the place wasn't busy (9:30pm on a Wednesday). The fries were super hot and very tasty - better than bowling alley fries. The bacon on the BLT wasn't real, freshly-cooked bacon - it was microwave-style, very dry and brittle with no flavor. The pancakes were very mushy. The Server asked if we wanted butter for the pancakes and we said yes, but it wasn't brought out in individual packets - it was put onto the pancakes already. Hence, the mushiness. The Caesar salad was good - huge and fresh. Prices are good, but not sure if any of the other food is worth another visit. The nearby Dennys is better at being a "diner". This place just doesn't stand out as being anything new in terms of food or atmosphere. There wasn't even any music playing in the background. They should get some new furniture and a counter with diner-style stools (not a bar), and maybe table jukeboxes to make it fun. This place could be better, but seems like it opened too soon and is trying to be...
