Longboard Cafe does recommend and I highly suggest you do make reservations for your time and date you'd like to dine there ahead of time too (at least one day prior , same day times full up fast!). We had no wait upon arrival as oppose to other walk ins were being told 1 hour 45 minutes wait times! (On a Wednesday evening at 8pm. ) This place was recommended by my brother in law whom had eaten there quite a few years ago with his son. My husband and I both ordered the Filet Mignon dinner entree while my 13 year old son ordered the Burger w/Crab meat (more of a messy sauce though) atop the burger with fries. With steak entree you choose 1 vegetable & 1 starch. Only starch avail was fries, or red potatoes, which were "okay" but nothing to write home about. I ordered side Caesar salad as my veggie and hubby got 🥦. My son ended up trading his burger for my husband's steak and although my son loved their beer battered French fries, he wasn't so thrilled about his crab meat topped burger choice! The filet was pretty good and hardly any fat on it, this was the highlight of the meal for me! The prices are pretty HIGH in my opinion, I ordered one alcoholic beverage, (it was seasonal cocktail mixed drink that was very sweet and just too bitter with barely any alcohol in it at all)! For $15 I got lemonade mixed with chamboard and other citric juices and melted ice with no alcohol to be detected , and tiny bit of sprite soda water was tasted as well. I'm not sure if they made the drink correctly or not but it was not great at all! I couldn't even drink half of it! Our total bill was $176.85 for only 3 people ! (2 adults and 1 child). before the gratuity tip to the server (our server was awesome, all of the staff were friendly and professional). The atmosphere is nice, it's quite dark though inside the restaurant seated tables barely any light at all to see the menus at the tables after the sunsets ! It was a nice family dinner , but For the prices and overall quality of food, I wasn't impressed enough to return again. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as a must go to while in OC, MD either. There are SOOO MANY others great dining choices in ocean city that I would suggest over this one. But , some of my friends still love it here and just rave about this restaurant so go check it out and you decide for yourself!!! It is family /kid friendly but I'd say only older kids are ages I saw there! It was a lot of adults and couples on date night! Young people to middle aged to older, a few handful of "kids" ages 12 and up I'd say. Mainly teenagers with their parents .. but We didn't see any toddlers or babies there now that I think about it. They would be bored and no place for them to run around at inside, and the menu is not really suited for children who are 10 and under I'd say. It's more sophisticated type of dining experience and no one wants to pay $250 for their dinner while a crying infant sits beside them inside a nice restaurant. Think people! Lol...

I was simply sat at a table. However there was a single woman at a table next to me that was told they needed the table at 5:30 so perhaps they are confusing me with someone else. I also never told the waiter I was going to wait and order a drink at 5 because that was not my intent. When I heard the waiter tell another table it was happy hour I ordered a drink. I had TWO drinks. That’s it. I was not at the table for an hour and 45 minutes and would have left sooner if not for the service wait. Lisa only offered me a drink for NEXT time I come in. Not this visit. I also did not make a fuss at the bar. I simply asked the bartender the rude woman’s name so I could get the facts accurate. It’s a shame the owner is letting his customers be lied about and poorly treated but now I know going forward where my business stands.
I hate leaving this review because Longboards has always been one of my favorite places to eat in Ocean City but what happened tonight should never happen to anyone else. Tonight per usual the food and drinks were delicious but unfortunately the entire experience was ruined by the manager Lisa. I was sitting at a two top and was boxing my food when Lisa came to my table saying that I came in without a reservation and they needed the table because the door was backing up. I informed her I had another drink on the way and I hadn’t received my check yet. She was visibly annoyed. She came back over asking if she could move me which I agreed to accommodate. She only offered me a stool in the bar area and I requested at a minimum a seat at the bar so I could have a place to rest my drink. Now she was even more annoyed. I’m still waiting on my drink at this point and for the waiter to take my payment. She comes over two more times rushing me out saying that she should not have sat me as a walk in but since I was alone she didn’t think I would be there so long. It had only been an hour at that point. I wasn’t purposely lingering. She even tried to pick up my things to move me. I’m still waiting on the waiter to bring my change. Once the bill is settled I moved to an open stool at the bar to drink my martini. There was another table near me with two people that already had drinks when I was sat but was never asked to leave their table. She singled me out and bullied me. I was left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and discriminated against because I was eating alone. If a table wasn’t available when I came in I would have happily waited for an open table or stool at the bar. As a paying customer like everyone else no one should be treated this way. I hope this never happens to another customer due to the managers horrible actions. I asked the bartender the woman’s name so hopefully that is accurate because the rest of the staff...
Read moreIt’s been a couple of years since we last visited OC, a gap we never had before and only due to SARS. With our 45th Anniversary we are staying a week to relax, see the bench dedicated to our parents and see what’s changed especially restaurants. This year we discovered Longboard Café and it definitely ranks as one of the best and not just in OC!
When you visit a restaurant and you see the owner greet and mingle with his customers ( many who clearly have come time and time again),, as well as helping staff clear tables, you know you are in for an intimate experience and this restaurant clearly succeeds.
Located on 67th Street, in small shopping mall (OC Towncenter Midtown Boardwalk) with clothing and other stores, Longboard was fortunate that it has an expanded outside seating area that spreads the length of the shopping area. It has a nice inside with tables set apart. It is noisy as many reviews have pointed out with a bar area packed. It was jam packed inside and outside
Caroline G was our main server, awesome, very busy and helped by the rest of the team. She and everyone else stopped by to check on our food and the Owner came by to let us know our dishes were on their way.
There is an extensive menu and I know we didn’t do justice to several items listed as both appetizers and entrees. We didn’t want to fill ourselves up so ordered the guac and chips. Also, some warm bread and butter was also served (so nice that unlike Northern Virginia there is no separate charge). For our main course we order the special fresh catch lime in coconut fish, my wife the mahi mahi and I had the Rockfish. Both excellent, tasty and delicious and well presented. I almost had the salmon.
We were so full and about to leave when we were served a complementary dessert beautifully prepared for our Anniversary. Totally unexpected and another reason why this restaurant ranks so high. Its rare for me to give an unqualified outstanding rating but Longboard belongs in that category . Owner Rick Vach and your staff,...
