Should have went to Denny's. Our waitress, Bree, was great. Her service was on point and she did a great job after working a long shift. The management and the food is where we have an issue. There was a communication issue when our party grew from 4 to 8. Apparently Skye Bar can't, not won't, can't split a check with a group larger than 6. And when we got the bill, they added gratuity to it as well. Without telling us. We all had modest orders, entree and one/two drinks, most burgers or sandwiches, and our bill was $450! That they forced us to split evenly between 8 people because they could not split the check. That's $65 for a burger btw. We had three people who went and spoke to our waitress and the shift manager and we're all given the same response. The manager especially just shrugged us off. There was no attempt to change or fix the bill so people who ordered an appetizer and a drink weren't stuck with a $65 tab.
The food was decent, however, very overpriced for what it was. The "award winning" cheessteak is a JOKE. No one outside the kitchen has given that sandwich any awards whatsoever. To have had to pay that kind of money for basic American cuisine feels horrible. No one wants to get ripped off or taken advantage of and that's exactly what happened. We are a fun, well behaved group, if a little rambunctious, but not rude or disruptive. We and our waitress were treated like s**t. A manager is suppose to do right by their customers and their staff, not hang people out to dry. What Skye Bar management doesn't realize is that we have 70 people staying at a hotel across the street for 7 days, and they will get zero business from any of us while we are here. Glad you made money off us last night! It's the last dollars you'll see from us. If it's a late night and you're hungry, save yourself the experience and find a different place to...
Read moreI wish we hadn't gobbled our food so quickly so I could have shared pictures. We came upon Skye Bar after our first choice couldn't accommodate us (we didn't make a reservation) and we definitely lucked out. The menu looked good but I knew the food would be good when I got a glimpse of the kitchen and saw all the fresh ingredients and real cooking that was going on. My mom and sister started with the clams casino which they said was delicious, fresh bacon, succulent oysters. I made a meal of two starters: the scallops and fried green tomatoes. Both were great. I never would have thought of putting scallops, pickled jalapenos, cranberry relish and a peanut goat cheese together but maaan I'm glad they did. Sweet, savory and tart. It made for a surprisingly good dish. The fried green tomatoes were also excellent. Cornmeal batter on the tomatoes was seasoned and crispy. There was plenty of fresh crab on top, the remoulade was good and the goat cheese a welcome addition. My mother and sister split the double crab cake plate and they both really enjoyed it. It comes with the "starch and vegetables of the day" which doesn't sound like much but in this case they were. Garlicky and buttery mashed potatoes (with the skin, yes!) And the vegetables were a mix of broccoli, squash, carrots and onions. Seasoned well and not overdone. We also got cocktails which were really good, the pomegranate martini and the cucumber mint mule. All in all the meal surpassed expectations and I definitely recommend it. We have plans to go back soon for some of their heavier dishes which I'm sure...
Read moreGroup of 8 on a Saturday Night. Should have known something was up when we were able to immediately find a table to accommodate all of us. To start, the band was so loud that nobody in the group could hear each other. The waitress even had a hard time taking our drink orders because she couldn't here. Fortunately, they ended @ 8PM which was only about 10 minutes after our arrival. The place was still loud, but at least we could hear the people closer to us. Of the 8, 6 people got what they ordered and the other 2 were brought something they didn't order. I ordered the Philly steak nachos, they brought out Philly steak tacos. Waitress knew it was supposed to be nachos, so she took them back and almost immediately returned with a Nacho plate. I feel that they dumped the tacos onto a nacho plate and added some bland guacamole, salsa and covered the thing with canned nacho cheese sauce. The meat was bland and rubbery as if it had been boiled. There was no kick, perhaps adding a few jalapenos might've helped. My wife had chicken tacos. I can say that the black beans were good, albeit, a little spicy for her. The chicken was unseasoned but was the only ingredient actually placed in the taco shells other than a good dose of nacho cheese sauce.
There is a Denny's across the street that will serve you a far superior meal with a better atmosphere, and at a much lower cost. Trust me, I am not actually recommending Denny's, but just saying it would be less of a poor choice than trying to stomach the food at...
