I gave our stay at Quality Inn, Oceanfront, OC, MD a rating of 3 for the following reasons: 1) Location and oceanfront view were wonderful. Other than the location and view - we were met with some major issues and not happy about them: 1) the ceiling in our room was consistently leaking. We were told it was due to a clogged AC line, but after maintenance came to fix it, it was still leaking. My family and I slipped and fell several times due to the puddles of water on the floor. We had to use our bathroom towels daily and put them all over the floor. There was also water dripping down the walls, over the ELECTRICAL OUTLETS and smoke detector. 2) Our stove didn't work and the elements were not connected. 3) Our room floors were dirty and greasy. 4) There was mold in the bathroom. 5) The bathtub faucet was broken AND backwards. 6) No bathmat for the bathtub - VERY slippery. 7) The microwave was sparking and smoking when we tried to use it. When we looked inside, the walls of the microwave were coming apart and filled with rust. 8) The door leading outdoors on the side of the bldg had a card reader to be able to let hotels residents in and out, but it didn't work and we saw people who were NOT hotel residents coming into the hotel, grab the complementary coffee and then leave. MAJOR SAFETY AND SECURITY issue!!! Anyone could walk into this hotel at any time. 9) Our thermostat did not work. One of the hotel employees said that they knew the temperature didn't work on it - it only goes on or off. We did bring some of these issues up to the front desk and we were told " there isn't another room" and that was it! We had gone to this same hotel about 6 years ago and the experience was almost similar. We were assured the rooms/hotel had been renovated and our stay would be better. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I'm more disappointed that hotel staff didn't seem to care. We will not be recommending this hotel or location to others - especially for the price we paid...
Read moreThe first day we checked in we were given a room that had multiple issues. It was missing multiple outlet covers (fire hazard and also someone can get electrocuted), stains all over the curtains bedspreads etc, mold all over the bathroom (shower, shower ceiling, toilet), mold on the ceiling in the main room, some slimy glob running down the bathroom mirror, coffee stains all over near papers and wall near the coffee machine, main door that would not open without pushing as hard as possible, smelled musty, stove top was in pieces (the burner was disconnected from 3 of the 4 burners), and all the appliances were dirty. My wife was literally in tears.
So, we went to the front desk and they gave us keys of a bunch more rooms. We checked them all out and while none were as bad as the original, none seemed like they were cleaned.
We asked if they had any ocean front rooms and said we would pay for that and hoped the view would be enough to keep us there. We got an ocean front room but were told we'd have to move to another room on our 4th day. At that point we didnt care and anything to get out of the room we were in.
The Ocean front room was definitely better than the other but had other issues. This room my daughter got stuck in the bathroom because it wouldnt open. Even turning the knob as hard as I could it would barely open. On the second day, the air conditioning stopped putting out any cold air. It was just a warm humid musty air being blown at us. Then at 8 am we heard the cleaning people talking as loud as they could outside which woke us. Then we started to smell cigarette smoke even though its a non smoking facility. At this point, we went to the front desk and said we couldnt stay and needed to check out.
We were told we were getting a full refund and they did refund. We did not get the full refund and only got one of the 2 days back. High recommend finding another place to stay. (Unless you like...
Read moreThe staff were amazing, friendly and professional. The atrium is beautiful and the live animals really make it special. Koi fish, 2 species of parrot, turtles and goldfish. As the name implies this is an atrium and because of that there is an echo throughout the building. The indoor pool and hot tub are also in the atrium they are open 10a-10p and even with just a few people it can get quite loud. Also people coming and going in the morning. There rooms that have balconies in the atrium overlooking the pool pond and restaurant. I think there room entrance is outside and requires going up outdoor. Flights of steps. It looks like at one point the indoor balcony rooms once were inside and the. The atrium and now current oceanview rooms were built on later, but I could be wrong. The rooms are clean but obviously busy and have seen better days. Our closest door was busted but glued back together same with the door frame. Bathtub had paint peeling from where it looks like they were trying to cover up putting in the enamel of the bathtub. The balcony chairs need repainted and some of the lamps had rust spots. The bed was very comfortable as well as the pillows. Couch had some stains but once again everything (except the coffee pot) was well cleaned. There are some odd yet good amenities there is a coffee machine free on the first floor behind the elevator. The bathroom at least in our room has a heat lamp. There is a tennis court out by the road and small enclosed playground playground beside it. All the lamps have plugs as well. The table in the kitchen has 2 small stools. We didn't use the kitchen except the fridge and microwave but there was a small stove, dishwasher, toaster, can opener as well as dishes and pots and pans. It was well worth the money but I suggest bringing a fan to block out some noise of the atrium of you plan on sleeping in or going to bed...
